I&#8217;ve done an initial averaging of four sources:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlyw.net\/\">CAIRO<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; from S B of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlyw.net\/\">Replacement Level Yankees Weblog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tangotiger.net\/marcel\/\">Marcel<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the basic projection model devised by Tom Tango, coauthor of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.insidethebook.com\/\">The Book<\/a>. This year I&#8217;m using Marcel numbers generated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseballheatmaps.com\/marcel-database-download\/\">Jeff Zimmerman<\/a>, using <a href=\"http:\/\/summerofjeff.wordpress.com\/2011\/01\/14\/python-code-for-marcel-projections\/\">Jeff Sackmann&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0Python code.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/steamerprojections.com\/\">Steamer\/Razzball<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; developed by Jared Cross, Dash Davidson, and Peter Rosenbloom, and using playing time projections from Rudy Gamble of <a href=\"http:\/\/razzball.com\/\">Razzball.com<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/?p=181\">RotoValue<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; my new and (I hope) improved projection algorithm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a simple average of these sources &#8211; if a source does not project some stat (some sources don&#8217;t project batters faced for pitchers, for example), then the average does not include that source for that stat; but it will include a 0 in the stat so long as the source projects some players with positive values for it.<br \/>\nSo here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotovalue.com\/cgi-bin\/Search?year=2013&amp;league=4&amp;source=Consensus\">link<\/a> to prices for the 5&#215;5 league format that I&#8217;m doing a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/mock-drafting\/\">mock draft<\/a> for later today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Consensus forecasts, an averaging of forecasts from different sources, have done quite well\u00a0in studies comparing forecast values with actual ones, so it makes sense to have a consensus of the projection sources RotoValue has for baseball.
