{"id":272,"date":"2012-04-03T11:24:26","date_gmt":"2012-04-03T15:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/?p=272"},"modified":"2012-04-03T11:24:26","modified_gmt":"2012-04-03T15:24:26","slug":"if-you-cant-beat-em","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/index.php\/2012\/04\/03\/if-you-cant-beat-em\/","title":{"rendered":"If You Can&#039;t Beat &#039;em&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; integrate with &#8217;em!<br \/>\nSince my <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/?p=181\">efforts<\/a>\u00a0to project major league baseball statistics <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/?p=247\">did not<\/a>\u00a0do better than some of the freely available systems, I figured I should make their data available in the RotoValue site.<br \/>\nSo I now have data from multiple projection sources available on the site:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlyw.net\/\">CAIRO<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; from S B of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlyw.net\/\">Replacement Level Yankees Weblog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tangotiger.net\/marcel\/\">Marcel<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; the basic projections from Tom Tango, coauthor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insidethebook.com\/\">The Book<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/steamerprojections.com\/\">Steamer<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; developed by Jared Cross, Dash Davidson, and Peter Rosenbloom.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseballthinkfactory.org\/oracle\/discussion\/2012_zips_projections_spreadsheets_v._1\">ZiPS<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; projections from Dan Szymborski of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.baseballthinkfactory.org\/\">Baseball Think Factory<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/search.espn.go.com\/dan-szymborski\/\">ESPN<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.rotovalue.com\/?p=181\">RotoValue<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; my own algorithm, still using the same model as last season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The RotoValue <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotovalue.com\/cgi-bin\/Search?league=17&amp;year=2012&amp;source=Steamer\">Search<\/a>\u00a0page lets you sort by different statistics, and filter by MLB team, position, or (for appropriate position filters) IP or AB. Change the Source field to get different statistics, either other projections, current or previous seasons, or preseason data.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotovalue.com\/cgi-bin\/Search?league=17&amp;year=2012&amp;source=Steamer\">This<\/a>\u00a0link searches all MLB players using Steamer projections and lots of stats.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotovalue.com\/cgi-bin\/Search?league=1&amp;year=2012&amp;source=Marcel\">This<\/a> link is an AL only search using Marcel and the traditional 4&#215;4 categories.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotovalue.com\/cgi-bin\/Search?league=3&amp;year=2012&amp;source=CAIRO\">This<\/a> link is an NL only search using CAIRO and 4&#215;4 categories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From any of these you can change source easily, sort by any visible category, and\/or add filters.\u00a0For current season data, you can also show statistics for any date range &#8211; which is great if you want to compare numbers since a trade, call-up, or major role change for a player. And if you&#8217;re using RotoValue for your league&#8217;s standings, then it can search only among free agents, or show all players on one particular fantasy team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; integrate with &#8217;em!
