Thu Jul 31 | 23:55 | Anthony Santander Making Slow Progress |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) has been making much slower progress than expected, but there is progress being made, reports Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca. It's a tiny bit encouraging to hear some progress is being made, but based on prior reports, he is still at least one week away from even being cleared to swing a bat. The 30-year-old hasn't played since May 30 due to a left shoulder subluxation and has been stuck in this same spot in his rehab for over a month. It's looking more and more like a lost season for the slugger, who batted just .179 with six home runs in 50 games prior to his injury. |

Mon Jul 21 | 18:46 | Anthony Santander Still Not Swinging the Bat |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) is still a few weeks away from swinging the bat, according to manager John Schneider. Yikes, this is tough news with Santander having no timetable to return. He has been out since late May due to a left shoulder issue. He would likely need a few weeks to ramp up once he does start swinging the bat. It's hard to imagine Santander getting back on the field for the Jays within the next month. Possibly Santander is back in September, but that isn't going to give fantasy managers much incentive to keep rostering him. |

Fri Jul 18 | 19:22 | Anthony Santander Not Swinging, Will be Re-Evaluated in Toronto |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (shoulder) has yet to resume swinging a bat and is heading to Toronto this weekend to be evaluated by the team's medical staff, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling. It's bad news for a player that has been on the injured list since May 30 due to a left-shoulder subluxation. Santander has been one of the biggest free-agent busts in all of baseball in his first year in Toronto after making his first All-Star team in 2024 with a .235/.308/.506 slash line, a career-high 44 home runs and 102 RBI in 155 games with the Baltimore Orioles. He's hit just .179 (33-for-184) this year with six homers and 18 RBI in 50 games. Santander is eligible to return from the IL later this month, but we're pretty certain he won't be back until sometime in August. |

Tue Jul 8 | 00:16 | Anthony Santander Hoping to Hit Soon |
According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) still isn't hitting yet but will hopefully do so soon. Santander has been sidelined on the IL since May 30 with a shoulder subluxation and still hasn't taken swings, although it appears he'll do so soon. The Venezuelan native's first stint with the Blue Jays hasn't begun the way he'd imagined after a career-year in 2024 -- slashing a woeful .179/.273/.304 through 50 appearances. Maybe his inevitable minor-league rehab assignment will be enough to break him out of his funk. The switch-hitting right-fielder won't be eligible to return until the end of the month (Jul. 30). |

Fri Jul 4 | 16:31 | Anthony Santander Moved to 60-Day Injured List |
The Toronto Blue Jays transferred outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list on Friday, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith. Right-handed pitching prospect Lazaro Estrada was also called up, with left-hander Justin Bruihl being sent down in a corresponding move. Santander is dealing with a subluxation of his left shoulder and now will not be eligible to return to the team until July 30. He's been on the IL since May 30 but is getting close to swinging a bat. The 30-year-old Venezuelan switch-hitter has been one of the most disappointing players in real life and fantasy in 2025, as he's hit just .179 (33-for-184) with six home runs and 18 RBI in 50 games in his first year in Toronto after hitting a career-high 44 homers and driving in 102 last year in Baltimore. Davis Schneider has seen an increase in playing time in the outfield for the Jays with Santander sidelined. |

Mon Jun 30 | 16:07 | Anthony Santander Close to Swinging a Bat? |
Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said that outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (shoulder) is getting close to starting a hitting progression. Atkins also said that Santander suffered a left-shoulder subluxation (partial separation) when he crashed into the outfield wall in early May in a game against the Los Angeles Angels. After being a first-time All-Star in 2024 in his final year with the Baltimore Orioles, Santander has been a big free-agent bust so far in 2025 in Toronto, slashing .179/.273/.304 with a .577 OPS, only six home runs, 18 RBI and 55 strikeouts in 209 plate appearances before his shoulder injury. It's good news that the 30-year-old Venezuelan is close to resuming baseball activities, but he won't be back until after the All-Star break as he looks to turn around his awful first half with the Jays. |

Sun Jun 15 | 08:27 | Anthony Santander Not Hitting Yet |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) has not been cleared to swing the bat yet, according to the team's manager John Schneider. Santander has been throwing the baseball, but hasn't progressed to hitting yet. The 30-year-old has been sidelined since late May due to left shoulder inflammation. He did receive a PRP injection in June, but it hasn't helped him too much. Once Santander has begun hitting, he'll likely need to go on a minor league rehab assignment. There is currently no timetable for his return to the field. He was struggling before the injury, so fantasy managers might need to make a decision soon. |

Tue Jun 3 | 17:23 | Anthony Santander Receives PRP Injection |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (shoulder) received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his injured left shoulder and will take five to seven days off before throwing and ramping up, according to The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Santander is currently on the 10-day injured list and probably won't be able to return when he's eligible if he's shut down for around a week. However, barring a setback when he resumes baseball activities, it's possible he could be back in Toronto before the end of June, even if he goes on a minor-league rehab assignment. Considering all the money the Jays gave the 30-year-old switch-hitter in free agency, they probably won't be rushing him back before he's ready. With Daulton Varsho also on the IL, Addison Barger, Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw should see more playing time in the outfield for Toronto. |

Fri May 30 | 16:02 | Blue Jays Place Anthony Santander on 10-Day Injured List |
The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Friday and recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move, according to the team. With Santander out, Myles Straw and Nathan Lukes are starting in the corner-outfield spots for Toronto for Friday's contest against the visiting Athletics. Santander has been a huge free-agent and fantasy bust so far in his first year in Toronto, hitting just .179/.273/.304 with a .577 OPS, six home runs, 18 RBI, 14 runs and 55 strikeouts in 209 plate appearances after a career year in 2024 in Baltimore in which he had a career-high 44 long balls and 102 RBI. The 30-year-old went hitless in 17 at-bats with seven strikeouts in five games before landing on the IL. In addition to a shoulder injury, he's also been battling a hip ailment. Straw, Lukes and Roden could all split playing time in Santander's absence. |

Fri May 23 | 23:16 | Anthony Santander Expected Back Saturday |
Per manager John Schneider, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (hip) is expected to rejoin the team on Saturday for their road meeting with the Tampa Bay Rays. Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reported the news. Schneider also noted that he "liked Clase's ability to make contact in the 7th," when asked if Santander was an option off the bench on Friday, insinuating he may have been available if Schneider felt it was the right move. It's good news for the 30-year-old, who's dealt with an ailing hip for the last week or so. Still, though, he has some work to do to recover from his dreadful start to the year (.188/.270/.327). Hopefully, he's completely past his hip issue. He'll face off against right-handed hurler Shane Baz if all goes according to plan. |

Fri May 23 | 17:00 | Anthony Santander Remains Out on Friday |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (hip) remains out of action for Friday's contest against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. Santander will miss a second straight game on Friday due to a left-hip injury that he's been dealing with now for the last week. Although the 30-year-old's injury doesn't seem all that serious, we can't rule out an injured-list stint if it continues to bother him and keep him off the field the rest of the weekend. In addition to his hip injury, Santander hasn't lived up to his big free-agent deal and is slashing just .188/.266/.327 with a .594 OPS, six home runs, 18 RBI and 13 runs scored in his first 43 games for the Jays. George Springer is the DH and is batting cleanup on Friday against Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Jonatan Clase is in left field and hitting eighth, while Nathan Lukes is in right field and batting ninth. |

Thu May 22 | 12:06 | Anthony Santander Out With Hip Injury on Thursday |
Toronto Blue Jay outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (hip) is absent from the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the visiting San Diego Padres at Rogers Centre as Toronto goes for the three-game sweep. Santander was pulled early from Wednesday's 14-0 blowout win over SD after aggravating a left-hip injury, so it's not a huge surprise the 30-year-old isn't playing a day later in a matinee game. It's unclear if the injury is serious enough to land him on the injured list, but perhaps Toronto will view it as a chance to get the struggling slugger an extended mental break after a tough start to his first year in Canada. Santander is hitting just .188/.266/.327 with six homers, 18 RBI and 13 runs scored. Outfielder Daulton Varsho is the DH and is in the three-hole, while Myles Straw patrols center field and hits eighth on Thursday against Padres right-hander Stephen Kolek. |

Wed May 21 | 21:41 | Anthony Santander Exits with Hip Inflammation |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (hip) left Wednesday's game against the Padres in the seventh inning due to hip inflammation. Jonatan Clase pinch-hit for him with the bases loaded. This has been an ongoing issue for the slugger, as he recently sat out on Saturday with soreness in the same hip. There should be an update after the game, but there's a chance this will require a trip to the injured list if he wants to move past the injury completely. |

Tue May 20 | 16:09 | Anthony Santander Hitting Sixth on Tuesday Against Padres |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander is serving as the DH for the Jays on Tuesday and will hit sixth in the batting order versus the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Dylan Cease in the series opener. Santander is slowly moving his way down Toronto's batting order after originally starting as their three-hole hitter for the first 39 games of the 2025 campaign. The 30-year-old slugger had a career year as a first-time All-Star in 2024 with Baltimore, clubbing 44 homers and driving in 102 runs, but he's currently slashing just .182/.264/.308 with five homers, 16 RBI and a 44:18 K:BB in his first 41 games with the Blue Jays. Tuesday's matchup isn't the best one for him to turn things around against Cease, although Santander has hit .313 with a .916 OPS, a homer and three RBI against Cease in 16 career at-bats against him. |

Sat May 17 | 12:58 | Anthony Santander Remains Sidelined on Saturday |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (hip) remains out of the starting nine on Saturday when the Blue Jays continue a series against the Detroit Tigers. Arden Zwelling noted that the slugger is dealing with a sore left hip. On Friday, Santander was dealing with a sore left shoulder. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Sunday's contest. As a result, this will open the DH spot for first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., which opens first base for Ernie Clement. Through his first 39 games of the campaign, Santander has held a modest .187/.266/.316 slash line with just five doubles and five home runs. Under the hood, he has generated a low .283 xwOBA. The Blue Jays are worth considering in DFS facing Reese Olson, who enters this game with a 3.38 ERA. |

Fri May 16 | 18:59 | Anthony Santander Out on Friday |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander will retreat to the bench for Friday's series opener versus the visiting Detroit Tigers at Rogers Centre. George Springer will serve as the DH and will hit cleanup, while Jonatan Clase will start in left field and bat ninth against Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty. It's been a rough start to Santander's time with Toronto in 2025. The 30-year-old Venezuelan switch-hitter has hit .187 (29-for-155) with five home runs, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored, 17 walks and 41 strikeouts in 173 plate appearances after clubbing a career-high 44 homers and driving in 102 in 2024 with the Orioles. He went 1-for-12 with five strikeouts in his last three games and missed some time with a sore shoulder. Springer has swung the bat well this year but is hitless in 14 career at-bats against Flaherty. Clase has never faced Flaherty. |

Tue May 13 | 15:57 | Anthony Santander Returns Against Rays |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (shoulder) is serving as the DH and is hitting third for Toronto on Tuesday against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Shane Baz at Rogers Centre. Santander miss the three-game sweep over the Seattle Mariners over the weekend with a shoulder injury that he suffered last Thursday. The 30-year-old veteran switch-hitter is back in action on Tuesday, though, and will be looking to get his season average up over .200. Fantasy managers probably aren't in a rush to get him back into their starting lineups, although he does bring a modest three-game hitting streak into Tuesday's action after going 5-for-14 with a homer, four RBI and a run scored in last week's series against the Los Angeles Angels. Santander is hitless in his six career at-bats against Baz. |

Mon May 12 | 13:29 | Anthony Santander Should Be Good To Return On Tuesday |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander (shoulder) missed the three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners over the weekend after his shoulder "felt cranky" after falling into the right-field seats against the Los Angeles Angels late last week. However, manager John Schneider said that Santander should be good for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. The 30-year-old was swinging the bat a bit better prior to his minor shoulder injury last Thursday, but fantasy managers are still waiting for more. The Venezuelan switch-hitting outfielder has so far been a disappointment in his first year in Toronto, slashing .196/.275/.336 with a .611 OPS, five home runs, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored in his 143 at-bats. Check back on Tuesday before throwing Santander back into your starting fantasy lineups. |

Sun May 11 | 14:13 | Anthony Santander Remains Out On Sunday |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) remains out of the starting nine on Sunday when the Blue Jays conclude their series against the Seattle Mariners. Santander was unable to start on Saturday as well. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Santander's status leading up to their next game on Tuesday evening against the Tampa Bay Rays. Before his injury, the 30-year-old had begun to find his swing as he had held a strong .250/.333/.500 slash line with a double, three long balls, and eight RBI across his past 10 games. This afternoon, George Springer will shift to the DH spot with opens center field for Myles Straw. Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes will cover the corners. The Blue Jays are best to fade in DFS facing Seattle right-hander Bryce Miller. |

Sat May 10 | 21:11 | Anthony Santander Remains Out On Saturday |
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Santander injured his shoulder during Thursday's game and as a result he'll miss his second straight game. It's worth noting that Santander could be available off the bench, which means his injury isn't too serious. Fantasy managers should consider Santander as day-to-day until further notice. George Springer will take over as the designated hitter and bat third against right-hander Logan Evans. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch. |
