Sat May 10 | 02:40 | Kevin Ginkel Implodes In First Blown Save | Kevin Ginkel | RP | Diamondbacks | Free Agent |
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Kevin Ginkel had an atrocious outing on Friday, allowing five runs (all earned), blowing the save, and taking the loss in a 14-11 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ginkel was summoned with a three-run lead in the ninth, and proceeded to get only one out while giving up four hits and hitting a batter before being pulled. Shohei Ohtani then hit a three-run homer to add a few more earned runs to Ginkel's line. The disastrous affair brings Ginkel's ERA to 15.43 and his WHIP to 2.57. Even though Arizona's bullpen is depleted right now, it seems unlikely that Ginkel will get another chance to close out games, at least for a while. Shelby Miller will likely see the bulk of the opportunities, and he is worth a look in leagues where saves are scarce. |

Sat May 10 | 02:06 | Ketel Marte Homers Twice, Reaches Base Four Times | Ketel Marte | 2B | Diamondbacks | Free Agent |
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte did all he could for his team on Friday, going 2-for-3 with two homers and two walks in a 14-11 loss to the New York Yankees. Marte cracked a pair of solo homers and also scored on Lourdes Gurriel Jr.'s grand slam. The 31-year-old has put together strong numbers in an injury-shortened start to his season, hitting .292 with 11 runs, three homers, and four RBI in 48 at-bats. When healthy, Marte is one of the best-hitting second basemen in the game. He should remain a fantasy standout throughout the season. |

Fri May 9 | 23:30 | Erick Fedde Fires First Career Shutout | Erick Fedde | SP | Nationals | Free Agent |
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Erick Fedde allowed six hits and no runs over nine innings in Friday's 10-0 win over the Washington Nationals. The 32-year-old struck out eight batters and walked none in the first complete game and shutout of his MLB career. It was easily the best start of the season for him and marked the first time he'd punched out more than four batters. Fedde hammered in 68 of 109 pitches for strikes and had previously not gone longer than six innings in any outing. The Las Vegas native scattered six hits (one double) and allowed no runs for the second time in 2025. He'll have a much tougher task in his next start, which projects to come on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies early next week. Despite the dominant showing against Washington, he'll be difficult to trust moving forward. |

Fri May 9 | 23:12 | Francisco Lindor Notches Second Straight Multi-Hit Outing | Francisco Lindor | SS | Mets | Free Agent |
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with a home run in his team's 7-2 victory against the Chicago Cubs. The superstar switch-hitter singled and scored twice, adding his fifth stolen base of the campaign. Lindor started the scoring for New York with a 388-foot shot off Cubs pitcher Jameson Taillon to lead off the bottom of the first inning. The long ball was his eighth, and second in his last four outings, as he continues to enjoy a fantastic start to 2025. He's up to a .297 average to go along with seven doubles, 26 runs scored, and 25 RBI. If the former first-round pick is set to take off in the summer months as he usually does, he could be in store for a monster season. Friday marked his second straight multi-hit effort and third in his last five. |

Fri May 9 | 21:39 | Connor Joe Traded To Reds | Connor Joe | LF | Rockies | Free Agent |
The San Diego Padres have traded outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. In exchange, the Padres will receive right-hander Andrew Moore and cash considerations. The 32-year-old outfielder was hitless in nine plate appearances before getting traded. Joe doesn't have great career stats, but is someone who could be a contributor off the bench. The Reds are in need of some depth with Jake Fraley (calf) and Tyler Callihan (forearm) both injured right now. The move to Cincinnati should hopefully give Joe more playing time, but he's still unlikely to be a viable fantasy option. |

Fri May 9 | 21:14 | Evan Phillips Shut Down For Two Weeks | Evan Phillips | RP | Dodgers | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Evan Phillips (elbow) was recently placed on the 15-day injured list due to forearm discomfort. An MRI revealed that Phillips is dealing with elbow inflammation, so he'll likely be sidelined longer than expected. For now, Phillips will be shut down for the next two weeks before hopefully beginning a throwing program. That being said, Phillips might not be back on the mound until some point in June. Before going down, Phillips threw 5.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts and one save in seven appearances. There should be a better timetable on him in a few weeks. |

Fri May 9 | 20:28 | Tommy Edman Still Feeling Pain In His Ankle | Tommy Edman | 2B | Cardinals | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman (ankle) is still dealing with some discomfort in his ankle when doing straight-line running, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Edman is scheduled for live at-bats next week. The Dodgers placed the 30-year-old on the 10-day injured list on April 30 with an injured right ankle. He's already eligible to return from the IL, but he won't be able to rejoin the big-league club for the rest of their weekend series in Arizona against the division-rival Diamondbacks. Before his injury, the versatile switch-hitter was batting .252/.295/.523 with an .818 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI, 19 runs scored and two stolen bases in 111 at-bats. Edman is on pace for a career-high in homers and he should continue to be productive in runs and RBI when he returns to L.A. Hyeseong Kim and Miguel Rojas should continue sharing second base duties while Edman is out. |

Fri May 9 | 20:01 | Freddy Peralta To Start On Monday | Freddy Peralta | SP | Brewers | Free Agent |
Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta (groin), who tweaked his groin at the end of his last start against the Chicago Cubs on May 4, threw a bullpen session on Friday and didn't report any problems, according to manager Pat Murphy. Peralta is now scheduled to start on Monday against the Guardians again in Cleveland. Right-hander Chad Patrick will slide up a day to start Sunday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 28-year-old still managed six shutout innings with one walk and seven strikeouts in his last outing against the Cubs to secure his fourth win of the season. Peralta has been magnificent for fantasy baseball managers in his first eight starts of 2025, going 4-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 48 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings. The Dominican will be going up against a Guardians offense that is middle of the pack in terms of team OPS (.697). |

Fri May 9 | 19:47 | Jorge Soler Scratched On Friday With Groin Tightness | Jorge Soler | RF | Marlins | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (groin) was scratched from Friday's starting lineup against the visiting Baltimore Orioles at Angel Stadium with groin tightness, according to The Athletic's Sam Blum. With Soler hurting, Jo Adell will start in right field and bat eighth against Orioles right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano. It's unclear if Soler's injury is serious enough to land him on the 10-day injured list, but fantasy managers will want to check back on Saturday to see if he's available for Game 2 of the series against Baltimore. The 33-year-old right-handed slugger has gone 5-for-27 (.185) with a homer, double, five RBI and two runs in seven games so far in the month of May. The Cuban outfielder has performed pretty much as expected through his first 130 at-bats with a low average .231 and modest power production (six homers, 16 RBI) in his first year with the Halos. |

Fri May 9 | 18:44 | Thairo Estrada Ramping Up Baseball Activities | Thairo Estrada | 2B/SS | Giants | Free Agent |
Colorado Rockies infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) did some fielding drills at Coors Field on Wednesday and then ran the bases and did fielding drills on Thursday. Estrada resumed swinging a bat last weekend as he gets closer to making his Rockies debut while recovering from a fractured right wrist that he suffered in late March. The 29-year-old was put on the 60-day injured list on March 27 and still does not have a firm timetable for a return. He will eventually go on a minor-league rehab assignment and could be looking at a return to the big leagues in June. When he's healthy, he won't be a big fantasy producer, but he's expected to play regularly at second base for the Rockies. Estrada had back-to-back 14-homer seasons in 2022-23 with the San Francisco Giants but fell out of the rotation quickly last year after hitting .217/.247/.343 with nine homers and 47 RBI in 96 games played. |

Fri May 9 | 18:28 | Kris Bryant Has Successful Surgery | Kris Bryant | RF | Rockies | Free Agent |
Colorado Rockies designated hitter Kris Bryant (back) had a successful ablation surgery on his back on Friday and will rest for the next 72 hours. The Rockies expect him to be back in Denver next Saturday, and he will begin activities to build up strength in his back on Sunday. The 33-year-old oft-injured outfielder is hoping to return this season, but he's going to at least be recovering for the next several weeks before he can even think about resuming baseball activities. The four-time All-star and former MVP had gone 6-for-39 (.154) with no home runs and 13 strikeouts in 11 games before landing on the injured list in the middle of April with his back injury. Based on Bryant's last few years in Colorado, we're not banking on him returning before the All-Star break in mid-July or returning to be much of a fantasy asset in mixed leagues in the second half. |

Fri May 9 | 18:20 | Brandon Woodruff To Make One More Rehab Start | Brandon Woodruff | SP | Brewers | Free Agent |
Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will make one more minor-league start with Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Barring a setback, Woodruff will be activated from the injured list to make his 2025 debut during the team's series at home against the Minnesota Twins that starts next Friday, May 16, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. The 32-year-old veteran has looked good in five rehab starts, posting a 2.70 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with seven walks and 22 strikeouts with High-A Wisconsin (two starts) and Nashville (three starts). He is making his way back from right-shoulder in September of 2023. Woodruff was a fantasy ace before his injury and should be stashed in all fantasy formats, but you might want to temper your expectations initially as Milwaukee looks to ease him back into their starting rotation. |

Fri May 9 | 17:45 | Tyler O'Neill Returns From 10-Day Injured List | Tyler O'Neill | LF | Cardinals | Free Agent |
The Baltimore Orioles have activated outfielder Tyler O'Neill (neck) from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's contest against the Los Angeles Angels. In a corresponding move, the Orioles have optioned third baseman Coby Mayo to Triple-A Norfolk. O'Neill is also in the starting nine this evening. He will bat sixth and cover right field. Before his injury, O'Neill held a modest .215/.284/.385 slash line with three doubles, one triple, and two home runs across his first 19 games of the campaign. He has tallied 10 RBI and scored eight runs. Under the hood, O'Neill has generated an impressive 17.4% barrel rate but has held a high 28.4% strikeout rate, which lowers his value in points leagues. This evening, he has a favorable matchup against Angels right-hander Kyle Hendricks, who enters this game with a 5.28 ERA. |

Fri May 9 | 17:45 | J.T. Realmuto, Brandon Marsh Out Of Action Against Guardians | J.T. Realmuto | C | Phillies | Free Agent |
| | | Brandon Marsh | RF | Angels | Free Agent |
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto and outfielder Brandon Marsh will both start on the bench for Friday's series opener versus the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Rafael Marchan is doing the catching and batting ninth, while Johan Rojas will start in center field and bat eighth against Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams. Realmuto fouled a ball off his foot on Wednesday but returned to the lineup on Thursday, so there shouldn't be any concerns about his health. The 34-year-old has yet to really get going offensively and has gone 5-for-21 with a homer and four RBI in six games in May. Given his slow start to the year -- .170 (9-for-53) with a homer and seven RBI and a trip to the injured list -- Marsh isn't even guaranteed regular playing time against righties. Neither Marchan nor Rojas are very attractive DFS sleepers |

Fri May 9 | 17:38 | Kyle Wright Pulled From Rehab Assignment | Kyle Wright | SP | Braves | Free Agent |
The Kansas City Royals have pulled right-handed pitcher Kyle Wright (shoulder) from his rehab assignment due to shoulder fatigue. The team noted that Wright is tentatively set to miss at least two starts before returning to action. Wright is currently on the 15-day injured list as he is working his way back from a torn capsule in his right shoulder. He missed the entire 2024 campaign but was nearing an early return to the big leagues. However, given this setback, Wright could be in danger of missing an extended period of time. Through his first six innings of rehab work with Double-A Northwest Arkansas, Wright has allowed seven hits and six runs. If the 29-year-old is able to progress well, he could be in line to return to Kansas City in early June. |

Fri May 9 | 17:25 | Jake Fraley Back From Injury | Jake Fraley | LF | Reds | Free Agent |
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (calf) is starting in right field and batting eighth for the Reds in Friday's series opener against the hosting Houston Astros and right-hander Hunter Brown at Daikin Park. Fraley will return to the starting lineup for the first time since suffering a minor calf injury on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter hasn't really gotten going so far in 78 at-bats in 2025, hitting just .205/.319/.359 with three home runs, nine RBI, 12 runs scored and three stolen bases. He's gone 2-for-22 in his last 10 games, making him pretty unattractive in his return to the starting lineup for DFS purposes. Fraley has faced Brown just once in his career and has recorded a hit. When healthy, Fraley rests regularly against lefty pitchers, limiting his upside in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues. |

Fri May 9 | 17:15 | Hayden Wesneski Placed On 15-Day Injured List | Hayden Wesneski | SP | Cubs | Free Agent |
The Houston Astros have placed right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a sore elbow. In a corresponding move, the Astros recalled right-handed pitcher Logan VanWey. The 27-year-old only logged four innings in his most recent outing. In this start, he allowed a season-high four runs to the Milwaukee Brewers. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the right-hander will miss at least the next two weeks of action. Through his first 32 innings of work this season, Wesneski has held a 4.50 ERA with an impressive 1.09 WHIP. During this stretch, the 27-year-old has struck out 29 batters and served up six walks. While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Ryan Gusto to rejoin the starting rotation. |

Fri May 9 | 17:04 | Hunter Greene Placed On 15-Day Injured List With Groin Strain | Hunter Greene | SP | Reds | Free Agent |
The Cincinnati Reds placed right-hander Hunter Greene (groin) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a Grade 1 right-groin strain that he suffered in his outing on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. In a corresponding move, the Reds are calling up right-handed pitching prospect Chase Petty. It's a bummer for Greene's fantasy managers, but the good news is he isn't dealing with a serious groin strain and could be back in Cincy's starting rotation when he's eligible to come off the IL in a couple weeks. It's entirely possible that the hard-throwing 25-year-old will only miss a couple of starts. The former second overall pick in 2017 has been a must-start fantasy pitcher in 2025, going 4-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings. Petty is the club's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. |

Fri May 9 | 15:35 | Mark Vientos Getting A Breather Versus Cubs | Mark Vientos | SS | Mets | Free Agent |
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener at Citi Field against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Brett Baty will draw into the lineup at third base and bat sixth against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. So far in 2025, Vientos has been unable to replicate his breakout season from a year ago. The 25-year-old right-handed slugger is sitting for the second straight game and is currently slashing an underwhelming .220/.301/.370 with a .671 OPS, four home runs, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored in 127 at-bats for the Mets. The good news, though, is he currently has a five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-19 with two runs scored. Baty, a former first-rounder in 2019, has yet to figure it out at the big-league level and has gone 11-for-58 (.190) with a homer and four RBI in limited action. The 25-year-old has never faced Taillon in his MLB career. |

Fri May 9 | 15:10 | Ryan Weathers Throws Five Scoreless Frames In Latest Rehab Start | Ryan Weathers | SP | Padres | Free Agent |
Miami Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers (forearm) looked good in his third minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, throwing five shutout innings with two hits allowed, no walks and three strikeouts to pick up the win. The 25-year-old southpaw averaged 97.8 mph with his fastball and could potentially be activated from the injured list and make his 2025 season debut for the Marlins next Tuesday in a tough matchup against the Chicago Cubs. The former first-rounder of the San Diego Padres in 2018 has made three rehab starts (two with Jacksonville) and has only allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking four and striking out 13 in 10 2/3 innings pitched. Weathers only got up to 57 pitches in his efficient outing on Thursday, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him make one more start in the minors. He deserves to be picked up off the waiver wire now in fantasy leagues if he's available. |
