Wed Apr 1621:16Chris Bassitt Records 10 Strikeouts In Win
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt was excellent on the mound during Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Bassitt had little issues in this game as he struck out 10 batters while allowing only three hits across five scoreless innings on Wednesday. He exited the game after 90 pitches, but did enough in this one to earn himself the win. The rest of the bullpen picked up where Bassitt left off as they recorded a franchise record 19 strikeouts during Wednesday's game. Bassitt has been unbelievable early in the season with only two earned runs across four starts. He's going to be a popular waiver wire addition after this outing.

Fri Apr 1112:27Chris Bassitt Strikes Out Five In No-Decision
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt allowed one run on five hits in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox. The veteran struck out five batters and walked one over 5.2 innings of work -- narrowly missing his third quality start. Bassitt pitched well again, stifling the Red Sox through five innings. He ran into trouble in the sixth, though, walking outfielder Jaren Durran, who would eventually steal second and score on an Alex Bregman single. The right-hander has been excellent thus far in 2025 -- holding a sterling 0.98 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with a 21:3 K:BB ratio in 18.1 innings. Statcast thinks he may be over-performing his metrics, but Bassitt has started another season off on the right foot. If it holds, the right-hander's 28.8% strikeout rate would be the highest of his career.

Sun Apr 610:08Chris Bassitt Strikes Out Nine In No-Decision
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings on Saturday, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out nine batters, but he did not factor into the decision in the 3-2 loss to the Mets. Through two turns in the rotation -- one at home and one on the road -- the veteran has looked good, posting a 0.71 ERA (0.89 FIP), 1.11 WHIP, and a 27.5 percent K-BB% (2:16 BB:K). Coming off a year in which he posted the worst full-season ERA and WHIP of his career, this was not to be expected, but with a solid career ERA of 3.56 and 1.23 WHIP, he's always been fairly good. However, looking closer, from April 9 to June 29 last season, the righty posted a 2.76 ERA before fading to a 5.38 ERA from July on. Fantasy managers may want to consider packaging Bassitt up in a trade, as there's sure to be some regression coming. The former All-Star will take on the Red Sox on the road in his next start on Thursday.

Mon Mar 3109:47Chris Bassitt Excellent On Sunday Against The Orioles
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt led the Blue Jays to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday to help salvage a split in their four-game series. He recorded his first win of the season, allowed eight hits, one run, and two walks, and had seven strikeouts over six innings of work. Bassitt was able to scatter those eight hits and get out of traffic quite often on the afternoon against a solid lineup. Bassitt will look to keep it rolling next weekend, when he is tentatively lined up to face the New York Mets on the road. Fantasy managers can continue to rely on Bassitt until proven otherwise, as he is a veteran pitcher who knows how to pitch in the big leagues.

Fri Sep 27 202417:07Chris Bassitt Won't Pitch In Season Finale
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt will no longer take the hill for the regular-season finale this Sunday at Rogers Centre versus the visiting Miami Marlins, according to manager John Schneider. The Blue Jays are now listing Sunday as a "TBA" day. Toronto hasn't named a replacement for Bassitt or given a reason for why the 35-year-old veteran won't take the ball to close out the season. Bassitt won a league-high 16 games for Toronto in his first year with the club in 2023 but wasn't nearly as successful this year, going 10-14 with a 4.16 ERA (4.08 FIP), a 1.46 WHIP and a 168:70 K:BB in 171 innings over his 31 starts. His ERA was his highest since 2016, when he pitched for the Oakland Athletics, and he also led the league with 16 hit-by-pitches. It's possible that he's dealing with a minor injury and the Blue Jays didn't want to risk anything.

Sat Jun 29 202418:13Chris Bassitt Excellent On Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt was sharp on the mound during Sunday's outing against the New York Yankees. The right-hander allowed one run (zero earned) with eight strikeouts over six innings of work in the win. This marks the third straight outing that Bassitt has thrown a quality start. The 35-year-old takes a 3.24 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 91/37 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Houston Astros.

Sat Jun 8 202409:16Chris Bassitt Strikes Out Seven In No-Decision
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt threw eight innings of one-run ball in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Athletics but did not factor into the decision. The veteran allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out seven, but the Jays' offense did not provide enough run support to allow him to pick up the victory despite the stellar showing. Aside from a seven-run hiccup against the Dodgers back on April 26, Bassitt has been rather good this season, allowing three earned runs or less in 10 of 13 starts and two or less in seven of them. The righty now has a 3.80 ERA on the season with a 1.38 WHIP and a 70:28 K:BB in 73 1/3 IP.

Wed May 29 202419:33Chris Bassitt Set To Start Sunday
The Toronto Blue Jays have released their probable starting pitchers for their three-game weekend series against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates that starts on Friday, and right-hander Chris Bassitt (neck) is listed as the team's starter for Sunday's series finale. Bassitt will make his next start after having to leave his last start early on Monday against the Chicago White Sox after he battled through neck spasms for five scoreless innings. The 35-year-old veteran has been great for the Blue Jays and fantasy managers of late and will carry 12-inning scoreless streak into a strong matchup at home against Pittsburgh. The Pirates rank 26th in major-league baseball with a .661 OPS. Bassitt has gone 5-6 this year with a 4.03 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 56 K's in 60 1/3 frames over 11 starts.

Mon May 27 202418:07Chris Bassitt Strikes Out Seven, Battles Neck Spasms On Monday
Toronto Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt (neck) tossed five scoreless innings during Monday's 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. He struck out seven batters, gave up five hits and did not issue a walk. It was a solid performance from the veteran right-hander, especially since he almost missed Monday's start due to a battle with neck spasms. His neck was clearly bothering him throughout Monday's outing and ultimately resulted in an early departure from the game. Bassitt now owns a 4.03 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 56:25 K:BB after the gritty effort. There is no word yet on whether the 35-year-old will make his next scheduled start, but it is a situation to monitor for fantasy managers.

Thu May 23 202410:42Chris Bassitt With Fifth Quality Start In Win
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt went seven strong innings in Wednesday's 9-2 victory over the White Sox. The veteran allowed five hits and two walks while striking out four on his way to earning the win. It was the righty's fifth quality start out of 10 starts, and his record now stands at 4-6. This season has been a bit of a mixed bag, as the 35-year-old has a 4.39 ERA on the season despite Wednesday's strong outing, and owns a 1.46 WHIP with a low 10.0% K-BB%. His K% is slightly below average at 20.5%, but it's the walks that have been hurting him, as his BB% stands at 10.5%. He's also got an elevated .314 BABIP, which isn't normal for him (career .281), so perhaps there's been a bit of bad luck too. You're probably only using Bassitt in easier matchups like this one against the Sox, and as luck would have it, he'll face them again in his next start next Monday in Chicago.

Wed May 8 202421:49Chris Bassitt Logs Another Quality Start
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt delivered an outstanding performance in Wednesday's 5-3 victory on the road over the Philadelphia Phillies, striking out six and allowing just two runs on three hits and two walks for his third win of the season. That's back-to-back quality starts now for Bassitt, who was hammered for seven runs at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers in his prior appearance on April 26. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander still has work to do to enhance his 5.06 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and 40:20 K:BB through 42 2/3 frames (eight starts) for the Jays this season, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. Tuesday's scheduled start against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards unfortunately looks like a nightmarish spot for Bassitt, who went 0-2 and gave up 12 runs across nine innings (two starts) against Baltimore a year ago.

Fri Apr 26 202414:39Chris Bassitt Looking To Get Back Into Win Column Friday
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt will be looking to get back into the win column for the third time this season on Friday versus the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. The veteran took a tough-luck loss his last time out after tossing 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball but also allowed six hits and three walks against the Padres his last time out. While the 35-year-old owns a solid 3.90 ERA on the season, he also sports a 4.77 FIP and a 4.47 SIERA that both suggest some regression could be on the horizon. Of course, there's at least a decent chance of that happening on Friday against a Dodgers offense that ranks second in baseball with a .348 wOBA on the season.

Mon Mar 4 202408:21Chris Bassitt Looks To Improve
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt has made two appearances in the Grapefruit League this spring with mixed results. After two scoreless innings of relief in his first outing, Bassitt served up three runs in his most recent performance on Saturday. The veteran got off to a slow start last season, but had a good year overall with a nice 3.60 ERA to go along with 186 k's in 200 innings in 33 starts. His next chance to show off his talent should come in the middle of this week. Entering 2024, Bassitt is a nice 3/4 option for managers as he remains a consistent year-to-year option.

Wed Oct 4 202314:10Chris Bassitt Ready To Pitch Out Of The Bullpen Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt is going to be ready to pitch out of the bullpen if needed for Wednesday afternoon's must-win Game 2 of the Wild Card series versus the Minnesota Twins. The Blue Jays have their backs against the wall following a 3-1 loss on Tuesday while Bassitt added that he's "pretty comfortable" coming out of the bullpen. Jose Berrios is the Game 2 starter for Toronto but he will have a short leash if he struggles early. Bassitt has 13 career relief outings, but zero since the beginning of the 2020 season. The 34-year-old worked to a 3.60 ERA across 33 starts and an even 200 innings in his first season with the Blue Jays in 2023.

Fri Sep 29 202300:55Chris Bassitt Hits 200 Innings For First Time
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt was magnificent Thursday, tossing 7 shutout innings and earning the win in a 6-0 victory over the New York Yankees. Bassitt allowed five hits and one walk while striking out a season-high 12 batters. The 34-year-old will end the season at exactly 200 innings pitched, a feat he has never accomplished before. It has been a great year for the veteran, who has pitched to a 3.60 ERA and 1.18 WHIP while racking up 186 strikeouts in the aforementioned 200 IP. He will have solid mid-round value next season.

Thu Sep 28 202317:54Chris Bassitt Tries To Aid Playoff Push In Final Start
The Toronto Blue Jays will try to hang on to an American League wild-card spot while starting pitcher Chris Bassitt takes the mound on Thursday versus the division-rival New York Yankees. The 34-year-old also aims for his 16th win of the campaign during his final start of 2023 and tie Zach Eflin as the AL leader in this category. Bassitt should have a good chance to do so against a Yankees club that he boasts a 1.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 14:3 K:BB over 13 career innings since 2021. The right-hander has kept the contact light when opposing the current New York roster, giving up only one extra-base hit in 50 plate appearances. Bassitt should remain deployed across all fantasy formats during championship week.

Fri Sep 22 202321:57Chris Bassitt Picks Up Quality Start, Win
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt threw 6 2/3 innings giving up two earned runs on six hits and zero walks. He struck out eight in a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Bassitt tossed 88 pitches, 61 for strikes while lowering his ERA to 3.74 and running his record to 15-8. Though he doesn't strike out a ton of batters and he gives up his fair share of home runs, he's been a quality starter for a handful of years now. This season, he's pitching like a top-30 starter in fantasy circles and while he'll be 35 next season, he should again provide good numbers.

Wed Aug 30 202318:36Chris Bassitt Throws Eight Shutout Innings
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt put together a masterful performance during Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals. The right-hander went eight innings, allowing zero runs and three hits in the 7-0 victory. The 34-year-old also struck out three batters while walking one during this contest. He now holds a 3.81 ERA through 27 starts this season. He'll head into a favorable matchup against the Oakland Athletics during his next outing. Fantasy managers should consider Bassitt a solid streaming option for that game.

Sat Jul 15 202310:25Chris Bassitt Moved Up To Start On Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt will take the hill for Saturday's game versus Zac Gallen and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Bassitt was initially slated to toe the rubber next on July 18 vs. the San Diego Padres, but is having his start pushed ahead for this one with Kevin Gausman (side) scratched with left side discomfort. Since 2021, Bassitt owns a 2.50 ERA with 16 strikeouts over 18 innings pitched against Arizona. The former All-Star has been very volatile all year, carrying a 6.83 ERA across his last six starts (27 2/3 IP) with a scoreless, 12-strikeout gem mixed in between. Bassitt takes a 4.81 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 102 punchouts (109 2/3 IP) overall into Saturday's tilt.

Sat Jun 24 202321:42Chris Bassitt Squanders Bounce Back Opportunity
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcherChris Bassittlimped his way to another mediocre final line in Friday's 5-4 loss to the A's. He allowed four earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four across five innings. Bassitt logged a no-decision Friday, keeping his record at 7-5 for the season. The 34-year-old righty had a chance to get back on track when the 30th-ranked offense against right-handed pitchers came to the Rogers Centre, but three singles and a homer resulted in a quick 3-0 deficit in the top of the first. Bassitt settled down for a bit but eventually allowed two more base runners and a sacrifice fly in his fifth and final frame, leaving with the score knotted at 4-4. The lackluster start marks his third short outing in a row. The absence of strikeouts, elevated walk rate, and tendency to allow crooked numbers make Bassitt tough to trust as a fantasy asset outside of deep leagues, even in the easiest of matchups. Bassitt owns a 4.32 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and an 81: 32 K: BB across 93 2/3 innings in 2023. Another home start is on deck for the veteran right-hander, but things get more difficult as he's slated to take on the red-hot San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
