Thu Apr 1714:44Wilmer Flores, Jung Hoo Lee Sitting On Thursday
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores and outfielder Jung Hoo Lee will take a seat on Thursday afternoon as the Giants will face Philadelphia southpaw Cristopher Sanchez. Flores has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, holding a .242/.286/.515 slash line with 16 total hits and six long balls. He tallied 23 RBI and scored 11 runs. Lee has also been swinging a hot bat as he has slashed a strong .338/.395/.647 line with 10 doubles and three round-trippers across the first 17 contests of the regular season. Fantasy managers should expect both Flores and Lee to likely rejoin the starting nine on Friday evening when they face the Angels. However, the Angels are scheduled to send out lefty Tyler Anderson, which could keep Lee out of the lineup. Instead, Luis Matos will cover center field, and Casey Schmidt will cover first base. The Giants should be faded in DFS facing Sanchez, who enters Thursday with a strong 3.12 ERA.

Sun Apr 1308:41Wilmer Flores Stays Hot On Saturday
San Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores has been crushing the ball all over the park to begin the season. He continued his power surge during Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. Flores tied the game with a two-run home run off right-hander Will Warren in the second inning. He would later add on two more runs with a single in the sixth. Flores finished his day 2-for-4 with RBI in what would end up being an 8-4 loss. The veteran slugger is now slashing .275/.302/.267 with six home runs and 19 RBI this season. Flores has five hits and seven RBI over his last three games, so he's really picking up steam right now.

Thu Apr 1005:33Wilmer Flores Homers In Wednesday Win
San Francisco Giants DH Wilmer Flores had a big night in an 8-6 win over the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings on Wednesday. Flores went 3-for-4 with a homer, two runs, and two RBI to help lead his team to the win. The veteran is off to a strong start in 2025, hitting .273 with five homers, seven runs, and 14 RBI over 44 at-bats. Flores had just four homers in 214 at-bats during the 2024 season. While his days of being a must-start fantasy option are over, he's worth a look in deeper leagues while he's swinging a hot bat.

Mon Apr 715:00Wilmer Flores Walks Off The Mariners With RBI Single
San Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores entered the game in the ninth inning of Sunday's contest as a pinch-hitter and took the first pitch he saw to right field for an RBI single to complete the three-game sweep over the Seattle Mariners over the weekend. Flores is off to a nice start to his 2025 campaign with 12 RBI, five runs scored, and four home runs in 35 plate appearances. Flores is slashing .273/.314/.636 in the young season and will continue his hot start as the Giants host the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game series. Flores has been known to sit against right-handed pitchers occasionally, so fantasy managers should consider riding the hot bat in the short term or adding him in deeper league formats.

Tue Apr 108:02Wilmer Flores Hits Home Run, Tallies Four RBI In Victory
San Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI during their 7-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Monday evening. Flores tallied an RBI single in the second frame off Houston right-hander Ronel Blanco. This hit scored outfielder Heliot Ramos. Later in the sixth, Flores would launch a three-run shot, which scored Jung Hoo Lee and Patrick Bailey. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a productive start to the campaign, going 4-for-15 with three long balls, eight RBI, and a 1:1 BB:K. After going deep just four times across 71 contests last season, Flores is just one home run away from matching that number in 2025. Fantasy managers should expect Flores to continue to serve as the everyday DH in San Francisco while Jerar Encarnacion (hand) remains sidelined.

Sun Nov 3 202409:30Giants Exercise Club Option On Wilmer Flores
The San Francisco Giants exercised their 2025 club option on infielder Wilmer Flores, according to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic. The 33-year-old appeared in only 71 games this past season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Flores hit for a mere .207/.277/.318 line with just four home runs and 12 doubles. Under the hood, he posted a poor 27.6% hard-hit rate and 5.9% barrel rate. However, he did show a strong eye at the plate with a stellar 13.6% K rate and 13.9% whiff rate, which were among the highest marks last season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress during Spring Training as Flores may miss some time early on in the season.

Tue Aug 20 202417:35Wilmer Flores Won't Make It Back This Year
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (knee) will miss the rest of the season, manager Bob Melvin announced back on Aug. 6. Flores had a Tenex procedure on his right knee on Aug. 6 after being put on the injured list on July 25. He had returned from the same injury on July 9. The Giants moved Flores to the 60-day IL on Aug. 16. "He was fighting it all year and unfortunately, we're losing him for the rest of the year, which isn't ideal," Melvin said. It's possible that Flores' knee had been bothering him well before he was shut down for the year and had surgery, as he hit .206/.277/.318 with a .595 OPS, four home runs, 26 RBI and 19 runs scored in 214 at-bats for the Giants this year. It was a disappointment after one of his best offensive showings in 2023, when he hit .284/.355/.509 with 23 home runs, all career-highs. Flores could bounce back with better health next year, but don't count on it.

Mon Aug 5 202422:33Wilmer Flores To Have Knee Surgery
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (knee) traveled to Los Angeles on Monday to undergo a Tenex procedure on his right knee with Dr. Steve Yoon that is scheduled for Tuesday. Flores is likely not going to be able to resume baseball activities for at least a couple of weeks after he goes under the knife, which may make it difficult for him to rejoin the Giants before the end of the regular season at the end of September. The 32-year-old veteran corner infielder hadn't been much help to fantasy managers in NL-only formats this year anyway, slashing just .206/.277/.318 with a .595 OPS, four home runs, 26 RBI and 19 runs scored in 214 at-bats as a utility infielder on the short side of a platoon at first base. The Giants acquired Mark Canha from the Detroit Tigers at last week's trade deadline, and he has essentially taken over first-base duties in San Fran against left-handers.

Thu Jul 25 202415:19Wilmer Flores Goes Back On Injured List
The San Francisco Giants placed first baseman/designated hitter Wilmer Flores (knee) back on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with right-knee tendonitis and recalled infielder David Villar from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Flores will go back on the IL after returning two weeks ago from the same ailment. The 32-year-old veteran right-handed bat is having a tough season, injuries aside, and is batting .206 (44-for-214) with only four home runs, 26 RBI and 19 runs scored in 71 games played in his 12th year in the big leagues. Villar is starting at first base and batting sixth for the Giants on Thursday against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander Clayton Kershaw, but he's merely going to be the backup at first base for regular LaMonte Wade Jr. with Flores back on the shelf.

Tue Jul 9 202418:23Wilmer Flores Returning On Tuesday
San Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores (knee) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. The veteran corner infielder is back in the mix after missing a few weeks due to left knee tendinitis. The 32-year-old figures to platoon with LaMonte Wade Jr. at first base going forward. Flores will play first base and bat fifth versus southpaw Yusei Kikuchi on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Sat Jun 8 202407:03Wilmer Flores Blasts Pair Of Homers On Friday
San Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores had a big night in a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Friday. Flores went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo homers in the winning effort. The veteran infielder hit both of his homers off Texas starter Michael Lorenzen, one in the second inning and another in the fourth. Flores is now hitting .224 with four homers, 16 runs, and 21 RBI across 156 at-bats this season. He has done most of his damage of late, hitting .280 with three homers and seven RBI over his past seven contests. Flores is worth a look in deep, NL-only leagues while he is swinging a hot bat.

Mon Apr 1 202420:31Wilmer Flores In Monday's Lineup
San Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores (shoulder) is starting at first base and is batting fifth on Monday against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander James Paxton. Flores was initially held out of the lineup after injuring his shoulder in the series finale against the San Diego Padres on Sunday, but the team's updated lineup has Flores in there. The 32-year-old Venezuelan veteran had a strong 2023 campaign in the Bay Area by hitting .284/.355/.509 with an .863 OPS, a career-high 23 home runs and 60 RBI in 126 games played and he's off to a 2-for-9 start with two RBI and three runs scored in the first four games of the 2024 season. Flores has just six career at-bats against Paxton and is searching for his first hit against the lefty.

Sun Mar 31 202419:49Wilmer Flores Removed From Sunday's Game
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (shoulder) was forced to exit early during Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. Flores suffered a left shoulder contusion when he fell into the dugout while trying to make a catch in foul territory. The injury doesn't sound serious and this shouldn't force Flores onto the injured list. At the moment, fantasy managers should consider Flores as day-to-day. LaMonte Wade could see more action at first base until Flores is ready to play again.

Fri Mar 22 202420:03Wilmer Flores Returns To Action Friday
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (knee) returned to Cactus League action on Friday against the Chicago Cubs, starting at first base and batting third in the lineup. Flores returned to the field on Friday after he was scratched from Wednesday's Cactus League lineup due to minor knee soreness. The fact that the 32-year-old is already back on the field heading into the weekend suggests he won't open the 2024 regular season on the injured list next week. The Venezuelan veteran hit an impressive .284/.355/.509 with an .863 OPS, a career-high 23 home runs and 60 RBI in 126 games in 2023 in his third year in the Bay Area. At the very least, Flores should be a lineup regular for the Gigantes this year against left-handed pitching at either first base or designated hitter.

Wed Mar 20 202412:32Wilmer Flores Scratched With Knee Soreness
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (knee) was scratched from the team's Cactus League lineup on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels due to a little knee soreness. Flores said "it's nothing." Flores should be considered day-to-day for now and should be ready for Opening Day next Thursday versus the division-rival San Diego Padres. Despite the 32-year-old Venezuelan putting up the best offensive numbers of his career last year for the Giants -- .284 average, 23 home runs and 60 RBI in 126 games -- playing time is going to be an issue for him in 2024. Flores was a bit fortunate to put up the numbers that he did, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he hits lefties well. At worst, he should be in some sort of short-sided platoon role in San Francisco's infield.

Thu Feb 15 202423:16No Clear Role For Wilmer Flores
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores enters spring training this year without a clear role once again. Last year, he had a stretch when he mostly came off the bench, but then he ended up being a lineup regular and the team's best hitter due to injuries. Until this past week when the team signed right-handed slugger Jorge Soler, Flores looked headed for right-handed designated hitter duty and time at first base. "Wilmer is a tough one, man. I mean, that guy hits righties, hits lefties. He's so well respected, not only around the league but certainly in this clubhouse. You don't always have a full complement of players. Guys are going to get hurt, too, but I'll figure out a way to get him in there," manager Bob Melvin said. The 32-year-old hit a career-high 23 homers in 2023, but the addition of Soler is going to make it much tougher for him to find regular ABs.

Mon Sep 25 202321:34Wilmer Flores Takes A Seat Vs. Padres On Monday
San Francisco Giants third baseman Wilmer Flores (knee) is not in the starting lineup for his team's game against the San Diego Padres on Monday. Flores left Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a knee issue and apparently still needs some time to rest up. The Giants will turn to Tyler Fitzgerald at the hot corner as they open up their final homestand of the season. Look for the Giants to update Flores' status in the coming days.

Mon Sep 25 202300:30Wilmer Flores Exits Game Early
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores left Sunday's game early with right knee discomfort. Flores exited in the fourth inning after collecting a pair of hits in his first two at-bats. It appears to be a minor issue, as Gabe Kapler said after the game that he doesn't believe it will be a lingering concern. Flores has been excellent for the Giants this season, slashing .285/.356/.509 with 22 homers in 393 at-bats. Fantasy managers will want to make sure Flores is in the starting lineup on Monday before setting their own lineups.

Tue Aug 15 202319:50Wilmer Flores Returns To Lineup For Giants
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (ear) is back in the starting lineup on Tuesday, playing third base and batting third for San Francisco against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Zack Littell. Flores was scratched from Monday's lineup due to an ear infection, but he'll be right back in the mix on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Venezuelan is hitting an even .300 (82-for-273) in his fourth year in the Bay Area while also providing 15 home runs, 19 doubles, 39 RBI and 38 runs scored in 302 plate appearances and 87 games played. Fantasy managers will want to get Flores back into their lineups in deep-mixed leagues. He's gone .333 (18-for-54) with two homers, five doubles, seven RBI and seven runs scored in 14 games (13 starts) since July 26.

Mon Aug 14 202321:30Wilmer Flores Scratched Monday
San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (ear) has been scratched from his team's Monday matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. Flores is dealing with an ear infection and nausea and will not be in the starting lineup as the Giants kick off their series with the Rays. Johan Camargo will instead draw the start at third base and bat ninth. Look for Flores to return to the lineup in the next day or so once he's feeling better.
