Mon Mar 1722:55Noah Murdock Earns Opening Day Roster Spot
Athletics right-handed pitcher Noah Murdock was notified on Monday by manager Mark Kotsay that he made the team's Opening Day roster. The 2019 draft pick earned the spot based on his performance this spring according to Kotsay. The 6-foot-8 hurler allowed three earned runs on two hits and a 5:7 BB:K in seven-and-two-thirds innings of relief. The tall righty owns a solid 23.4 percent K% and 9.45 K/9 during his minor leaguecareer but also carries a high 13.3 percentBB%. Still, the A's could have been impressed by his extreme ground ball rate, posting a 59.7 percent rate betweenDouble-A and Triple-A last season, then registering a 75.0 percent GB% this spring. The 26-year-old will make his MLB debut once the season begins and is expected to fill a low-leverage role that won't be conducive to fantasy productivity. As such, Murdock will be off the fantasy radaruntil that changes.

Fri Mar 1408:30Noah Murdock Could Make Opening Day Roster
Athletics right-handed pitcher Noah Murdock is a favorite to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster. Murdock has performed well during spring training, which has given him a good opportunity to break camp. Across six 2/3 innings, Murdock has held a strong 0.90 WHIP with six punchouts. He has allowed just two hits with three earned runs. Martin Gallegos of MLB.com noted that he will likely earn a spot in the bullpen. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress during camp but it appears he is set to make his MLB debut. Last summer, Murdock made his Triple-A debut and tossed 38 1/3 innings to the tune of a 3.76 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP. He held a 26:46 BB:K and did not allow a home run. If he makes the Opening Day roster, he will likely open the season in a low-leverage role and carry minimal fantasy value.
