Fri May 212:14Chase Meidroth Busy In Thursday's Return
Chicago White Sox infield prospect Chase Meidroth (thumb) had a productive return on Thursday during their victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Meidroth went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. The former fourth-round pick was held out of action for a week due to a thumb injury. However, the infielder returned to his leadoff spot on Thursday and looked comfortable at the plate. Through his first 10 games in the majors, Meidroth has performed quite well, holding a .267/.389/.300 slash line. Meidroth was included in the package that sent Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox during the winter. Fantasy managers should expect Meidroth to continue to have an everyday role in the Chicago starting nine. Given his role in the lineup, he is worth adding in 12+ team formats.

Thu May 112:17Chase Meidroth Reinstated From Injured List And Starting On Thursday
The Chicago White Sox announced on Thursday that rookie infielder Chase Meidroth (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and infielder Gage Workman (hip) was placed on the 10-day IL with a right-hip flexor strain. Meidroth is starting at shortstop and is batting leadoff for Thursday's contest against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Chad Patrick. It's nice that Meidroth is back for the Pale Hose and hitting leadoff in his first game back, but he didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment at all, and this will be just his 10th game in the big leagues. In nine games after being called up early in the 2025 season, the 23-year-old middle infielder has gone 7-for-26 with an RBI, stolen base, four runs scored, five walks and four strikeouts. Meidroth, Jacob Amaya and Brooks Baldwin could all see action at the 6 going forward in Chicago.

Mon Apr 2115:37White Sox Place Chase Meidroth On 10-Day Injured List
The Chicago White Sox announced on Monday that they placed infield prospect Chase Meidroth (thumb) on the 10-day injured list with right-thumb inflammation and selected the contract of infielder Bobby Dalbec from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Left-hander Martin Perez (elbow) was also moved from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL. Meidroth had been dealing with the thumb injury for a few weeks, but he'll now go on the shelf after being scratched from Sunday's contest. It remains to be seen how long the 23-year-old will be out, but in the meantime, expect Jacob Amaya and Lenyn Sosa to split playing time at the keystone for Chicago, with Brooks Baldwin playing the 6. Sosa started at second in Monday's loss to Boston and went 1-for-4. In his first nine games in the majors since being recalled, Meidroth has gone 7-for-26 (.269) with an RBI and a stolen base.

Sun Apr 2013:19Chase Meidroth Scratched With Thumb Injury
The Chicago White Sox have scratched infield prospect Chase Meidroth (thumb) due to a thumb injury. The 23-year-old was initially listed as the starting shortstop and was batting in the leadoff spot. Meidroth was promoted to the major leagues earlier this week and was in the starting lineup in each of the previous eight games. During his first taste of the big leagues, Meidroth has posted a .269/.387/.269 line with a seven total hits (all singles) with a 4:5 K:BB. Fantasy managers should monitor Meidroth's status leading up to their game against the Red Sox on Monday. This afternoon, Meidroth will be replaced by Jacob Amaya, and he will bat in the nine-hole. Meidroth is worth targeting on waivers in deeper formats this week as he appears to have an everyday spot in the lineup.

Thu Apr 1712:49Chase Meidroth Hitting Leadoff Against A's
Chicago White Sox middle-infield prospect Chase Meidroth is starting at second base and is batting leadoff for Thursday's series finale against the visiting Athletics and left-hander J.P. Sears. Meidroth received his first big-league promotion last week, but this is the first time that he will hit higher than fifth in the batting order for the Pale Hose. In his first five major-league games, the 23-year-old has gone 4-for-14 with three runs scored, four walks and two strikeouts. The team's No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, might be best utilized in deep fantasy leagues for his on-base skills, especially if he sticks near the top of the order going forward. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder has a compact swing from the right side and high-level bat-to-ball skills, helping him avoid punchouts. Because he lacks power and is playing for one of the worst teams in baseball, he won't move the needle all that much in shallow-mixed leagues.

Sun Apr 1313:08Chase Meidroth Batting Sixth On Sunday
Chicago White Sox infield prospect Chase Meidroth is batting sixth and covering second base during Sunday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox. The White Sox promoted Meidroth before Friday's game. He was a key piece in the trade that sent Garrett Crochet to Boston earlier in the winter. Through his first two games of his MLB career, Meidroth has tallied at least one hit in each contest. During his first game on Friday, Meidroth reached base four times. At the start of the season, the No. 8-ranked prospect in the system posted a strong .267/.450/.600 slash line with three home runs through the first nine games of the Triple-A campaign. Fantasy managers should consider adding Meidroth in deeper formats, but should consider fading him in DFS facing Boston ace, Garrett Crochet.

Thu Apr 1017:21White Sox Calling Up Chase Meidroth
The Athletic's James Fegan confirms that the Chicago White Sox are recalling infield prospect Chase Meidroth from Triple-A Charlotte. Meidroth, who is considered the team's No. 8 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is getting his first big-league call-up after hitting .267/.450/.600 with three home runs, a double, four RBI, two stolen bases, eight walks and five strikeouts in 40 plate appearances over nine games with Charlotte to begin the year. The 23-year-old has experience at both second base and shortstop, but he's most likely to see time at the 6 in Chicago, which is bad news for Jacob Amaya. Meidroth has elite bat-to-ball skills and is disciplined at the plate, but he lacks power and doesn't stand out defensively, making him only worth a waiver-wire pickup in AL-only leagues at this time.

Mon Apr 712:26Chase Meidroth Stays Hot With Three-Hit Game
Chicago White Sox infield prospect Chase Meidroth went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run during their victory over Norfolk. Meidroth drew two walks in this contest and tallied two RBI with four runs. Meidroth went deep in the sixth frame on a two-run shot, which also scored Zach DeLoach. This was another impressive outing for Meidroth, who has enjoyed a strong start to the Triple-A regular season. The former fourth-round selection was in contention to make the MLB roster out of camp, but may not need to wait long to make his major league debut. Through the first seven games of the Charlotte Knights season, Meidroth has tallied three round-trippers and held an overall .333/.500/.750 line. Fantasy managers in AL-only formats should continue to monitor his development.

Thu Apr 312:27Chase Meidroth Launches Second Long Ball
Chicago White Sox third base prospect Chase Meidroth went 2-for-4 with his second home run of the campaign during Tuesday's loss to the Norfolk Tides. Meidroth wasted little time as he went deep in the opening frame off Cameron Weston. Later in the contest, he knocked a single for his second hit of the evening. Through the early part of the Triple-A regular season, Meidroth has enjoyed a strong start, as he has only gone hitless in one game. Through five games, the former fourth-round selection has posted a solid .294/.478/.647 slash line. Meidroth was included in the package that sent budding ace Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox during the winter. Last season, Meidroth held a .293/.437/.400 line through 122 games with Triple-A Worcester and should be in the mix for an MLB debut on the Southside early in the campaign.

Mon Mar 2423:01Chase Meidroth To Begin Season At Triple-A Charlotte
Chicago White Sox infield prospect Chase Meidroth will not make the Opening Day roster and will begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Charlotte. The former fourth-round draft pick was in camp as a non-roster invitee but was only able to muster six hits in 39 at-bats (.154), although he did display a patient approach with a 9:10 BB:K. The right-handed hitter slashed .293/.437/.400 last season in 122 games at Triple-A, belting seven home runs and stealing 13 bases along the way. The most impressive thing, however, was his exemplary 18.8 percent walk rate compared to just a 12.7 percent strikeout rate. With another showing like that, there's a good chance we'll see the 23-year-old in Chicago sometime later this season, although he doesn't fit the profile of a must-stash for fantasy. With Colson Montgomery optioned as well, it looks like Jacob Amaya is the front-runner for starting shortstop, although Brooks Baldwin, Nick Maton, and ... [More]

Wed Mar 1215:25Chase Meidroth Returns To Cactus League Lineup
Chicago White Sox infield prospect Chase Meidroth (calf) returned to the team's Cactus League lineup on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels and was penciled in at shortstop and in the leadoff spot. Meidroth is back in action for the first time since leaving last Saturday's spring game against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to cramps. The 23-year-old is competing with Brooks Baldwin for the Opening Day job at shortstop now that prospect Colson Montgomery was sent to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Meidroth came over from Boston in the trade involving left-hander Garrett Crochet in the offseason, and he'll now have a much better chance at making an impact at the big-league level in 2025. While Meidroth is an advanced hitter, he doesn't have much power or speed, so he'll need everyday playing time to generate fantasy value in deeper formats.

Sat Mar 817:14Chase Meidroth Removed Early On Saturday
Chicago White Sox infielder Chase Meidroth (calf) has been removed early during Saturday's spring training contest. Meidroth was pulled from the contest as a precaution after experiencing soreness in his calves. He went 0-2 for from the leadoff spot before being taken out of the contest. The 23-year-old has struggled early in camp, but has shown solid potential with his numbers in the minor leagues. The White Sox are hopeful that Meidroth can help the big league team this season, so hopefully this is only a minor issue.
