Mon Apr 2103:01Javier Sanoja Hits First MLB Homer
Miami Marlins outfielder Javier Sanoja had a huge day at the dish on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning of a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Sanoja added two runs and five RBI to the impressive line. The homer was the rookie's first big-league shot, and it was an important one. The 22-year-old was a top-20 prospect coming into the year for the Marlins, but hasn't been given a ton of playing time to work with so far. He's now hitting .350 with a .822 OPS, so maybe that will change. Still, for the time being he can be left on waivers in all but the deepest formats.

Wed Mar 2621:02Javier Sanoja Makes Opening Day Roster
Miami Marlins infielder/outfielder Javier Sanoja has made the team's Opening Day roster, sources tell ElExtraBase's Daniel Alvarez-Montes. Sanoja breaks camp with the big-league squad after hitting .314 (11-for-35) with three doubles, seven RBI and eight runs scored in 14 Grapefruit League games this spring. The 22-year-old's versatility is key, and he'll give the Fish an extra option in the outfield with Jesus Sanchez (side) opening the year on the injured list. Sanoja made his big-league debut in Miami last year and went 8-for-35 (.229) with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in only 15 games played. He's a much more attractive real-life player than a fantasy one, as Sanoja's defensive versatility and ability to make contact at the plate are his strong suits. In 111 games for Triple-A Jacksonville last year, he had six homers and 14 stolen bases.
