Sat Apr 26 | 23:00 | Adael Amador Collects Three Hits And Home Run No. 1 |
Colorado Rockies second baseman Adael Amador has struggled at the plate for a second straight season since being called up to the majors, but he had a big game on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in the fifth inning. The home run was the first of his MLB career and came in his 21st MLB appearance. The speedy protect just turned 22 earlier this month, and still has plenty of upside, but he may not be able to hold on to a full-time role if he scuffles like he did before Saturday's breakout. Amador is up to .214 after his three-hit performance, and he has shown good speed potential in the minors with 35 thefts in 100 games at Double-A last year. If he gets playing time, he could develop into a bargain DFS play with upside, but the Rockies could send him back to Triple-A for more seasoning |

Sat Apr 12 | 23:37 | Rockies Calling Up Adael Amador |
The Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports that Colorado Rockies second base prospect Adael Amador will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque for Sunday's series finale at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres, according to a source. The corresponding roster move will likely be outfielder Tyler Freeman (oblique) going on the 10-day injured list after he was scratched from Saturday's lineup after tweaking his oblique in the batting cage. The 22-year-old Amador is considered Colorado's No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and will hopefully boost what has been a dormant Rockies offense early in 2025. He was hitting .275/.408/.450 with two homers, fur RBI, three steals and nine runs in 49 plate appearances at Triple-A. Amador should see regular playing time at second for the Rockies. Although he hit just .171 in his MLB debut last year, it was in just 10 games. His power/speed upside could play immediately in mixed fantasy leagues. |

Thu Mar 13 | 01:20 | Adael Amador, Drew Romo Optioned To Triple-A |
Colorado Rockies prospects Adael Amador and Drew Romo were both optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday. Amador was having a nice spring, going 8-for-27 (.296) with nine RBI, five runs scored, and an 8:5 BB:K. The switch-hitter is Colorado's seventh-ranked prospect and offers a blend of power and speed. Last season at Double-A, he hit 14 home runs and stole 35 bases in 100 games. Romo got off to a cold start this spring, going 2-for-17 (.118) along with a 1:4 BB:K. The Rockies' 11th-ranked prospect will head back to Triple-A, where he hit .297 with 14 home runs last season. Both had a taste of the majors in 2024, albeit with little success, but Amador offers the better fantasy profile of the two and is likelier to get back to the big leagues sooner, maybe even before summer. |

Fri Aug 16 2024 | 17:22 | Adael Amador Enjoying Power Surge |
Colorado Rockies second base prospect Adael Amador has enjoyed a nice power surge this week and has begun to settle in at Double-A since the start of the month. In his past six games, Amador has gone deep three times and tallied one triple with eight RBI. Since the start of the month, the 21-year-old boasts a .292/.346/.521 line. The infielder made his major league debut earlier this season and posted a modest .171/.194/.200 line through 10 games. The switch-hitter currently sits as the No. 6 prospect in the Colorado system and 98th-best in the entire sport on MLB.com. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status at Double-A, as he could earn another taste of the majors down the stretch. |

Thu Aug 1 2024 | 08:45 | Adael Amador Heating Up In Double-A |
Colorado Rockies middle infield prospect Adael Amador continued his hot hitting by going 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Wednesday for Double-A Hartford. The home run was his second in as many games for the 21-year-old. Amador is the Rockies No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline and is has been scorching hot of late with nine hits over his last 24 at-bats. Amador got a look with the big-league club earlier in the season, but suffered a right oblique injury and eventually returned to Hartford when activated. The Rockies are in a full rebuild, so there stands a chance that Amador will see some time with the big-league club before the season over, but he is more likely to help dynasty managers in the future versus redraft managers in 2024. |

Tue Jul 23 2024 | 12:02 | Adael Amador Inconsistent In Return To The Minors |
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Adael Amador has had trouble finding consistency since returning to Double-A after his brief major league debut. Since July 1 at Double-A Hartford, the top prospect in Colorado has struggled with a poor .174/.321/.196 line. During this span, he has hit only one extra-base hit and held a disappointing 10:22 BB:K ratio. However, Amador has posted two multi-hit games in his past four games, which could suggest he might be turning the corner. The 21-year-old infielder is considered the 46th-best prospect and could see another opportunity in the major leagues during the second half of the season. |

Thu Jul 4 2024 | 08:22 | Adael Amador Activated And Sent To Double-A |
The Colorado Rockies activated shortstop Adael Amador (oblique) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Double-A Hartford on Wednesday. Amador had been sidelined since June 21 after being diagnosed with right oblique tightness. Upon his activation the club chose not to keep the 21-year-old on the active roster by sending him back to Hartford, where he has spent most of his year. Amador struggled in his brief stay at the big-league level, but figures to get plenty of playing time on the farm to work out his kinks as he still offers plenty of potential as one of the club's top prospects. Amador could get another chance this summer with the Rockies, but as it stands, his best value is in dynasty leagues. |

Mon Jul 1 2024 | 07:46 | Adael Amador Sent On Rehab Assignment |
The Colorado Rockies have sent shortstop Adael Amador (oblique) on his rehab assignment in Double-A Hartford. Amador was promoted to the Rockies on June 9, but suffered right oblique tightness and has been on the 10-day injured list since June 21. The good news is that Amador has recovered quickly, but his struggles in his brief time at the big-league level might keep him back in Hartford upon his activation. Amador has a bright future ahead of himself, but seem overmatched in his first look at the big-league level with six hits in 35 at-bats and one run and stolen base. Amador should be rostered in dynasty leagues, but is more of a watch-list candidate in redraft leagues for now. |

Fri Jun 21 2024 | 19:34 | Adael Amador Lands On Injured List With Oblique Strain |
The Colorado Rockies placed rookie infielder Adael Amador on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a right-oblique strain and activated second baseman Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) from the injured list in a corresponding move. The Rockies expect Amador to have a quick recovery, although when he's all healed up, he seems likely to head back to the minors to continue his development. Colorado called up their top prospect to handle second-base duties with Rodgers on the shelf, but he looked overmatched in his first taste of big-league pitching and went 6-for-35 (.171) with a double, stolen base, one walk and six strikeouts in 10 games played. The 21-year-old suffered a similar oblique injury earlier this year while playing for Double-A Hartford, although it doesn't look like he's going to be out long. |

Thu Jun 20 2024 | 20:23 | Adael Amador Dealing With Mild Oblique Strain |
Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Adael Amador (oblique) is dealing with a mild oblique strain after being pulled early from Thursday's series finale against the visiting division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. According to manager Bud Black, Amador suffered a similar injury in May while playing for Double-A Hartford. Before leaving the eventual 5-3 loss in the eighth inning, Amador went 1-for-3. The plan has been for the 21-year-old to head back down to the minors once Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) returns from the injured list, but Amador may be put on the IL himself before Rodgers is able to rejoin the major-league roster. The Rockies' top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has looked overmatched at the plate in the early going, as he entered Thursday's contest 5-for-32 (.156) with no homers, one steal, one walk and six strikeouts in his first nine major-league games. |

Thu Jun 6 2024 | 00:19 | Adael Amador Rips Another Home Run, Steals Another Base |
Colorado Rockies top prospect Adael Amador continued his recent run of hot hitting on Wednesday, going 2-for-5 with a walk for Double-A Hartford. One of his two hits was a three-run blast, which was the switch-hitter's fifth home run in his last seven games after clubbing just one over his first 37 games. The 21-year-old also stole a base for the fourth game in a row and now has 22 on the year. Despite going 12-for-30 (.400) over his last seven games, Amador's batting average is still .193 on the season. What has not been an issue all season is his patient eye at the plate, walking at a 16.6% rate (19.3% K%) and posting a .342 OBP. He's likely not going to see the majors this year, but with that kind of power-speed combo, he may soon earn a promotion to Triple-A if he can keep up this recent turnaround. |

Wed May 29 2024 | 08:15 | Adael Amador Has Huge Week Versus Portland |
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Adael Amador is one of the best hitters in minor league baseball, making terrific pure contact. He combines his bat-to-ball skills with plus speed, making him a threat to leg out extra-base hits and swipe bags. He also has a phenomenal 1.03 K/BB ratio this season, confirming that he has great zone awareness, works walks, and cuts down on strikeouts. The biggest void in his offensive profile is his power; Amador won't slug more than 12 to 20 homers in a season. Defensively, he possesses average glovework but will likely patrol second base long-term. Amador went on a tear against Portland last week, going 10-for-31 (.323) with four homers, 10 RBI, seven walks, and eight strikeouts. He also continued to show his ability on the basepaths, swiping three bags. His best game came on Saturday as he went 5-for-6 with two homers, three singles, five RBI, and four runs scored. He's had subpar numbers for much of this year, but this hot week might be enough for a promotion to Triple-A in the near future. |

Mon May 27 2024 | 09:16 | Adael Amador Hitting Stride In Double-A |
Colorado Rockies shortstop prospect Adael Amador has begun to heat up for Double-A Hartford. Over his last 10 games, the 21-year-old is hitting .282 with four homers, 10 RBI, eight walks and four stolen bases. Amador is currently the Rockies No. 1 prospect per MLB.com and has really stepped it up of late after a sluggish start to the season. Amador is a switch-hitting middle infielder and possesses a very strong eye when he steps to the plate. His strong plate discipline is a strong sign for his potential big-league success, but he is likely a year or two away from making an impact for the Rockies and fantasy managers. He should be rostered in dynasty leagues, but can be avoided in redraft formats this season. |

Tue Apr 16 2024 | 01:18 | Adael Amador Off To A Slow Start In Double-A |
Colorado Rockies top prospect Adael Amador is hitting just .105 (2-for-19) over six games at Double-A Hartford. On the bright side, the second baseman has walked seven times compared to just three strikeouts, and he's swiped four bases. The keen eye at the plate is nothing new either, with 160 walks over the course of his minor league career as compared to 136 strikeouts. Per MLB.com's scouting report, his Hit tool grades better than his Power tool (60 vs 45), but the switch hitter did manage to hit 12 home runs in just 69 minor league games last season, and he's just 21 years old. He's not expected to see the big leagues until next season, and he's not doing much to force the issue at this point, but if Brendan Rodgers continues to scuffle (Rodgers was also scratched Monday for unknown reasons), then perhaps we see him sooner rather than later. |
