Mon Mar 3112:34Adrian Del Castillo Placed On 7-Day Injured List
Arizona Diamondbacks catching prospect Adrian Del Castillo (shoulder) was placed on the 7-day injured list with a shoulder injury. Fantasy managers should monitor his status, but should expect him to miss at least a few weeks of action at Triple-A. Del Castillo received a brief taste of the majors last season and performed quite well. He posted an elite .313/.368/.526 slash line with five doubles and four long balls. During this brief stint, he generated a strong 11.5 percent barrel rate but generated a weak .215 xBA, which suggests he could face some regression when he returns to the big leagues. When he returns to action at Triple-A, fantasy managers should monitor his production at the top level of the minor leagues, as he should see time in the majors later in the summer.

Fri Mar 2118:43Adrian Del Castillo Optioned To Triple-A
The Arizona Diamondbacks have optioned catching prospect Adrian Del Castillo to Triple-A Reno. Del Castillo was competing for the No. 2 catching role behind Gabriel Moreno. However, the team will instead have him continue his development at the top level of the minor leagues. Last summer, the 25-year-old made his MLB debut and posted an impressive .313/.368/.525 slash line across 25 games. During this stint, he tallied five doubles and went deep four times. He added 19 RBI and held a 7:28 BB:K. He flashed a similar upside with Triple-A Reno last season as he posted a .312/.399/.603 line with 36 doubles and 26 long balls. With Del Castillo opening the season at Triple-A, fantasy managers should expect Jose Herrera and Rene Pinto to continue to compete for the No. 2 catching job. Del Castillo is monitoring in NL-only leagues as he carries high power upside.

Fri Feb 2116:23Adrian Del Castillo Dealing With Arm Fatigue
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Adrian Del Castillo (arm) has been dealing with arm fatigue to begin the spring. He underwent testing which didn't reveal any significant damage, so Del Castillo is believed to be dealing with a minor issue. For now, the D-Backs have decided to play it safe and limited Del Castillo to designated hitter duties to begin the spring. The expectation is that Del Castillo is going to begin the year in Triple-A, but he could earn his way into the D-Backs lineup, assuming he continues to play well in the minors.

Mon Sep 16 202421:20Adrian Del Castillo Optioned By D-Backs
The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned rookie catcher Adrian Del Castillo to Triple-A Reno after Sunday's contest and recalled right-hander Scott McGough from Reno in a corresponding move on Monday. Del Castillo will head back to the farm for now after regular catcher Gabriel Moreno (groin) returned from the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Moving forward with several weeks left in the 2024 regular season, Jose Herrera will serve as the backup to Moreno. The 24-year-old Del Castillo is the team's No. 14 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and showed plenty of promise in his first 25 big-league games when Moreno was injured. In 87 plate appearances, he hit .313/.368/.525 with an .893 OPS, four home runs and 19 RBI. Del Castillo has plenty of pop from the left side of the plate and has been barreling the ball up all year. He should get much more run in Arizona in 2025.

Sun Sep 1 202414:51Adrian Del Castillo Sitting On Sunday
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Adrian Del Castillo will take a seat on Sunday afternoon as the Diamondbacks continue a four-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As a result, switch-hitter Jose Herrera will slot in behind the dish and bat in the nine-hole. Since Gabriel Moreno (thigh) hit the 10-day injured list earlier in August, Del Castillo has begun to gradually earn more stable starting opportunities. Through his first 17 games in the majors, the 24-year-old has posted a strong .321/.400/.528 slash line with three home runs and 14 RBI. Fantasy managers should expect Del Castillo to return to the starting nine on Monday afternoon. Herrera has gone 5-for-22 across his past nine games and is best to leave off of your DFS lineup on Sunday.

Tue Aug 20 202415:49Adrian Del Castillo Not In Tuesday's Lineup
A night after hitting a grand slam and driving in six runs, catcher Adrian Del Castillo is not in the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup at the Miami Marlins. Del Castillo will be replaced by Jose Herrera, who will bat eighth in the lineup. Del Castillo is hitting .333/.405/.667 with three homers, 14 RBI and six runs scored in his first nine games in the majors, becoming one of the hottest waiver-wire options. If Del Castillo remains available, fantasy managers should waste no time adding him. However, daily fantasy managers must look elsewhere for production behind the plate on Tuesday.
