Tue Apr 2909:50Edouard Julien Homers In Twins Triumph
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien isn't known for his power, but he hit a leadoff home run to set the tone for the Twins in their 11-1 romp over the Guardians in Cleveland on Monday night. He finished the game just 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, but his one hit was a big one. Julien hit the first pitch of the game from Gavin Williams over the center field fence for his second long ball of the season. The 25-year-old is hitting .213 on the season with a .296 wOBA, two home runs, eight runs scored, eight RBI, and 10 walks. He has hit leadoff in his last 12 starts, but could get crowded out of playing time when Royce Lewis (hamstring) returns from his rehab assignment.

Tue Apr 1517:42Edouard Julien In Leadoff Spot Again On Tuesday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is starting at second base and batting leadoff for the Twins in Game 2 of their series against the visiting New York Mets at Target Field on Tuesday. Julien will be facing right-hander Tylor Megill. The Twins are trying to scrape together offense after a slow start to the season, and this marks the third straight game that Julien will operate at the top of the batting order. The 25-year-old Canadian has become a fixture in Minnesota's starting lineup as well. The third-year infielder has gone 11-for-43 (.256) in the early going in 2025 with a home run, three doubles, four RBI, two runs scored, two walks and 12 strikeouts in 15 games played. Julien's move to the leadoff spot is good news for his fantasy value if he can stick there, but he still represents somewhat of a lackluster DFS play against Megill on Tuesday.

Tue Apr 117:52Edouard Julien Making First Start Of The Season
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien (illness) is making his first start of the 2025 season on Tuesday on the road in Chicago against the division-rival White Sox at Rate Field. Julien will serve as the designated hitter and bat eighth against right-hander Shane Smith, who will be making his major-league debut. Although this will be Julien's first start of the year due to an illness he's been dealing with, the 25-year-old had three at-bats off the bench on Monday and has gone hitless with two strikeouts. Most of the Canadian's playing time should come at second base again for the Twins this year, but at best, he'll be in more of a platoon situation, limiting his fantasy appeal to deeper formats. In his second year with the Twins in 2024, Julien slashed just .199/.292/.323 with eight home runs, 21 RBI and six steals in 94 games played.

Tue Mar 1100:44Brooks Lee, Edouard Julien Both Expected To See Time At Second
Minnesota Twins second basemen Brooks Lee and Edouard Julien are the favorites to make the team out of camp and share duties manning second base for Minnesota. The Twins also have super-utility man Willi Castro, who can play the position as well, but would likely see time all over the field after playing five different positions last season for the Twins. Lee made his MLB debut in 2024 with mixed results but is showing well this spring and comes with 2B, 3B, and SS eligibility on Yahoo, while Julien draws lots of walks and hit as many as 16 homers back in 2023. Neither one makes for a great fantasy option at the moment, though, unless one secures the position for themselves.

Sun Feb 2319:58Edouard Julien, Brooks Lee Competing For Second Base Job
Minnesota Twins infielder Edouard Julien and prospect Brooks Lee are expected to compete for starts at second base during spring training. Willi Castro is also expected to be in the mix as well but could find a role at another position. Last season, Julien held an underwhelming .199/.292/.323 line with eight home runs and six stolen bases. He drew walks at an elite 11.0 percent rate but held a hefty 33.9 percent strikeout rate. He was deployed primarily on the strong side of a platoon. Lee was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft out of Cal Poly. Lee made his MLB debut last summer and posted a .221/.265/.320 line with three home runs across 50 contests. At Triple-A, Lee posted a .308/.368/.606 line in 25 games. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor their development during camp. While both have flashed upside at times, they could be tough to trust in standard formats if they end up splitting time.

Mon Jun 3 202412:05Twins Officially Send Edouard Julien Down
The Minnesota Twins officially optioned struggling second baseman Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday. Julien, an 18th-round pick in 2019 out of Auburn, hit .263 as a rookie with 16 home runs and 37 RBI in 109 games for the Twins last year but hasn't been able to replicate that so far in 2024, slashing .207/.309/.367 with seven homers, 17 RBI and six stolen bases in 58 games played. The 25-year-old infielder really struggled in the month of May and will now go down to the farm to work on some things. In the meantime, utility man Willi Castro should see most of the starts at the keystone in Minnesota, with Kyle Farmer also seeing an uptick in opportunities. Eventually, the plan is likely for Julien to come back up this summer to try and regain the starting job at second base for the Twins.

Sun Jun 2 202419:11Edouard Julien Likely To Be Sent Down
Minnesota Twins infielder Edouard Julien is expected to be sent down to Triple-A St. Paul prior to Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees. The 25-year-old had a closed door meeting with manager Rocco Baldelli following Sunday's game. Afterwards, Julien was seen giving handshakes and hugs to teammates. The assumption is that Julien is going to be sent down with Royce Lewis set to return on Tuesday. Julien is slashing .207/.309/.367 with seven home runs and 17 RBI this season. Fantasy managers who are rostering Julien will likely need to look for another option.

Fri May 10 202417:24Edouard Julien, Max Kepler Sitting On Friday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien and outfielders Max Kepler and Alex Kirilloff are not in the starting lineup on Friday with the team facing Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. The Twins typically sit a lot of their left-handed hitters when they face a southpaw, so this isn't really anything new. Kyle Farmer is starting at second base and is hitting seventh, Manuel Margot is in right field and is batting fifth, and Ryan Jeffers is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for the Twins. Jeffers is hitless in four career at-bats against Kikuchi, but he's been one of the hottest hitters in baseball the last couple weeks and is hitting .306/.389/.631 with a 1.020 OPS, eight home runs, 29 RBI and 20 runs scored in 111 total at-bats. He'll be a prime DFS target against a southpaw.

Sun Apr 28 202414:43Edouard Julien Sitting Against Southpaw
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is not in Sunday's lineup as the Twins are scheduled to face left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers. Julien has had a great week at the plate with an incredible .474/.565/.1.105 stat line with three long balls. However, he has only made two starts this season against left-handed pitchers and will be on the bench once again. Instead, Kyle Farmer will shift to second base and bat in the eight-hole. Farmer has struggled to begin the campaign and has a difficult matchup today and should be avoided in DFS as he will face Reid Detmers who enters Sunday with a 2.12 ERA and 1.04 WHIP.

Fri Apr 26 202408:15Edouard Julien Collects Two Hits
Minnesota Twins infielder Edouard Julien is off to a shaky start at the plate, but he has turned it around recently. On Thursday, Julien went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the win over the Chicago White Sox. His slash line is at an ugly .213/.308/.513, but Julien does have seven home runs and nine RBI this season. The Twins are banged up right now, so expect Julien to continue playing everyday. His pop alone makes him worth snagging off the waiver wire.

Mon Apr 15 202415:16Edouard Julien In Lineup Against Lefty
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouardo Julien is staying at second base and batting ninth on Monday against left-hander Cole Irvin and the Baltimore Orioles. This will be the second straight time that Julien has stayed in Minnesota's starting lineup with the team facing a southpaw. It will be a boost for Julien's fantasy stock if he continues to play every day, although his move from the leadoff spot to the nine-hole will make him a bat to fade in DFS lineups. The Canadian infielder does have four home runs in his first 14 games of 2024, but he's also gone just 9-for-46 (.196) with five RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored in 52 trips to the plate. Julien has never faced Irvin in his career.

Wed Apr 10 202418:33Edouard Julien Homers Twice In Win
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien put together a strong performance versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Julien blasted a leadoff home run to kick off the bottom of the first inning. He later homered again in the fifth inning to give the Twins a 3-2 lead. The score would hold as Julien provided most of the offense in this victory. Outside of this performance Julian has struggled this season, so hopefully this game will help him get back on track.

Mon Apr 8 202419:08Edouard Julien, Alex Kirilloff, Max Kepler Sitting Monday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien, first baseman Alex Kirilloff and outfielder Max Kepler are all sitting on Monday against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander James Paxton. Kyle Farmer is starting at second base and batting sixth, Ryan Jeffers is the designated hitter and batting third, and Manuel Margot is in right field and hitting leadoff against Paxton. Farmer, Jeffers and Margot have a combined four career at-bats against Paxton. Both Margot and Jeffers will be DFS sleeper options against Paxton on this one. The 26-year-old Kirilloff has been on the bench in both of the games that the Twins have faced a left-handed hurler this year.

Sat Mar 30 202414:57Edouard Julien Making First Start Of Season Saturday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is getting his first start of the 2024 season on Saturday against Kansas City Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. Julien started Thursday's Opening Day contest on the bench against the left-handed Cole Ragans but went 1-for-2 with a walk after infielder Royce Lewis departed with an oblique injury. The 24-year-old enjoyed a big rookie season that saw him hit .263 with 16 home runs, 60 runs, three stolen bases, and an .840 OPS across 109 games and 408 trips to the plate. He should see more playing time in the 2024 season as the everyday second baseman against right-handed pitching as he spent time to begin last season in the minors. That won't be the case in 2024 as he is a premium option for fantasy managers at the second-base position.

Thu Mar 28 202414:14Edouard Julien Riding Pine On Opening Day
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien will have to wait to make his 2024 debut as Kyle Farmer will man second base. The left-handed bat looks to be on the strong side of a platoon role for now as the Twins are facing southpaw Cole Ragans today. However, with the talent that Julien flashed last season, he may be able to play himself out of it as the season progresses.

Sat Mar 9 202415:51Twins Not Concerned About Edouard Julien's Wrist
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien (wrist) left the visitors' clubhouse at LECOM Park with his right wrist wrapped up after being hit by a pitch in the first inning of Friday's spring training loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the team has no initial concerns about his health. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli and a team trainer went to first base to check on Julien but left him in the game. Once back in the dugout, Julien was replaced in the field by Michael Helman in the bottom of the frame. Julien's ability to stay in the contest echoes the club's sentiment that the Canadian infielder's setback is of minimal concern. Following the offseason trade of Jorge Polanco, Julien is locked into Minnesota's everyday role at the keystone and is slashing a robust .421/.476/.789 over 21 plate appearances this spring. Don't let this recent injury influence the 24-year-old's 217.9 Yahoo ADP in fantasy drafts.

Wed Mar 6 202417:35Edouard Julien Plays Long Ball Wednesday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien launched his second home run of the spring during Wednesday's 7-1 triumph over the Boston Red Sox. The 24-year-old launched a three-run homer off of Red Sox righty Cooper Criswell in the bottom of the third inning that ended the latter's afternoon. The long ball continued a hot start for the infielder as he's up to a .421 average (8-for-19) with the two homers along with a double and a walk across 20 plate appearances, good for a big-time 1.239 OPS. Julien also enjoyed a big spring for the Twins last season and he'll once again hope to parlay this one into success after he broke out with a .263 average alongside 16 home runs, three stolen bases, and an .840 OPS in his rookie season. He is an excellent middle-infield option in the 2024 campaign.

Sun Oct 8 202316:53Edouard Julien On The Bench Sunday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien will take a seat Sunday night against Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez. With Julien on the bench, Jorge Polanco will move over to second base while Kyle Farmer jumps in the lineup and will play third base. Julien had a .196/.229/.217 slash line against left-handers this season so it's not a surprise to see him on the bench Sunday. The rookie was a productive hitter and did damage against righties. He will be a big piece of the Minnesota offense next season and a popular fantasy name as well.

Wed Aug 16 202312:20Edouard Julien Returns Against Tigers
Minnesota Twins rookie second baseman Edouard Julien (hamstring) has returned to the keystone and is batting leadoff for the Twins on Wednesday against the visiting Detroit Tigers and right-hander Reese Olson. Julien missed just one game on Tuesday due to a mild hamstring issue, but he's back in action on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Canadian infielder has impressed so far in his first MLB season, hitting .281/.378/.479 with an .857 OPS, 10 home runs, 11 doubles, a triple, 18 RBI, three stolen bases and 37 runs scored in 255 trips to the plate over 70 games played. Julien has plenty of value in mixed leagues hitting atop Minnesota's batting order, but he's also gone just 7-for-36 (.194) with no homers or RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored in 12 games (10 starts) so far in August.

Tue Aug 15 202318:44Edouard Julien Out On Tuesday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. It appears the 24-year-old is dealing with a hamstring issue, so the Twins will hold him out of the lineup. It's also worth noting that Julien is in a 1-for-16 slump, which could be part of the reason he's out of the lineup as well. Jorge Polanco bat leadoff and shift over to second base versus right-hander Alex Faedo on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Julien.
