Thu Apr 1014:30Rhys Hoskins, Sal Frelick Sitting On Thursday
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins and outfielder Sal Frelick are not in Thursday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Colorado Rockies. Fantasy managers should expect both Hoskins and Frelick to return to the lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday evening. Hoskins has tallied just two hits over his previous four games and will cede first base duties to Jake Bauers, who will bat sixth. Frelick is riding a six-game hitting streak and has enjoyed a very productive start to the campaign. With Frelick sitting out, Jackson Chourio will shift to right field, opening up left field for Christian Yelich. The Brewers are a great lineup to target in DFS competitions this afternoon as they will face Colorado right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner.

Mon Mar 2413:24Sal Frelick Sidelined Again By Calf Injury
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (calf) was out of the team's lineup again on Sunday due to calf soreness. The 24-year-old has been out of action since last Tuesday after experiencing mild calf soreness. Fortunately, Frelick is expected to play in the team's final spring training tune-up on Monday. It's good news for the former first-round pick, who is projected to hold down right field for the Brewers again. Frelick hit just two home runs a season ago in 145 games. However, he's been astounding this spring, garnering an impressive .359/.432/.538 triple-slash with eight RBI, four steals, and two long balls. Known for his hit tool in the minors, if the Gold-Glove-winning outfielder can increase his in-game power, he may significantly impact fantasy in 2025.

Mon Mar 2413:22Sal Frelick Back In The Lineup Monday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (calf) will return to the team's lineup on Monday for their spring training finale against the Colorado Rockies. The 24-year-old has been out of action since last Tuesday after experiencing mild calf soreness. Fortunately for him, he only missed a handful of games due to the discomfort. It's good news for the former first-round pick, who is projected to hold down right field for the Brewers again in 2025. Frelick hit just two home runs a season ago in 145 games. However, he's been astounding this spring, garnering an impressive .359/.432/.538 triple-slash with eight RBI, four steals, and two long balls. Tue Feb 1815:31Sal Frelick Bulks Up
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick added 25 pounds of muscle since the end of last season, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Frelick is trying to stay around 190 pounds for as much of the 2025 season as possible as he heads into his second full big-league season. The 24-year-old former first-rounder hit .259/.320/.335 with only two home runs, 32 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 66 runs scored in 524 plate appearances and 145 games for the Brew Crew in 2024. Per Statcast, his 83.4 mph average exit velocity was the lowest in MLB. Most of Frelick's value came as a defender in the outfield and on the basepaths, which gives him limited fantasy upside. The added muscle on Frelick's frame could help him hit the ball harder this year, but it probably won't be enough to make a significant enough impact in fantasy.

Wed Feb 514:26Sal Frelick Not An Option At Shortstop For Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that outfielder Sal Frelick will not be an option at shortstop in 2025 as the team looks to replace Willy Adames. The starting job at the 6 in Milwaukee will come down to Brice Turang and Joey Ortiz, but Murphy wouldn't shed light on who might have the upper hand at the position in spring training. It's possible that Frelick could get some looks at third base this year after he proved in spring training last year that he could handle the hot corner. However, with both Christian Yelich and Garrett Mitchell getting hurt in 2024, Frelick proved his a Gold Glove-caliber right fielder. The 24-year-old could see more time at third base this year and is a big asset defensively for Milwaukee. However, he doesn't move the needle all that much in fantasy because he doesn't hit the ball very hard and lacks power. He ranks just inside RotoBaller's top-100 fantasy outfielders.

Thu Oct 10 202417:22Brewers To Revisit Moving Sal Frelick To Third Base
Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy said the team will revisit moving outfielder Sal Frelick to third base next season. It doesn't guarantee that Frelick will play a lot at the hot corner, but the Brewers were encouraged by what started last spring and like the idea of his versatility as both an outfielder and an infielder. The 24-year-old worked at third in spring training earlier this year but ended up playing only four innings at the position all year. Garrett Mitchell's fractured hand right before the start of the regular season basically ensured that the Brewers would be using Frelick exclusively in the outfield. Next year could be a different story, though, with the speedy outfielder potentially gaining more fantasy value by adding third-base eligibility. In his first full season in the majors in 2024, Frelick hit .259/.320/.335 with a below-average .655 OPS, two homers, 32 RBI and 18 steals in 145 games.

Fri Oct 4 202401:46Sal Frelick Smacks Clutch Homer In Game 3 Loss
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick came up clutch in Game 3 of the Wild Card series against the New York Mets, smashing a seventh-inning solo home run to give the Crew a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately for Frelick and the Brewers, they would end up blowing the game in the ninth inning and losing 4-2. The 24-year-old had a solid postseason, going 4-for-11 (.363) with a homer, a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. He will have a chance to earn an everyday role with the Brewers next season, although it may be difficult with Christian Yelich returning and Jackson Chourio solidified into a spot.

Tue Oct 1 202415:29Sal Frelick In Game 1 Lineup For Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (hip) was included on the team's roster for the wild-card series against the New York Mets at American Family Field this week and is starting in Game 1 on Tuesday. Manager Pat Murphy said the team will keep a close eye on Frelick, though, and if he's having trouble moving, they'll adjust. Frelick is in right field for Milwaukee and will hit eighth against Mets right-hander Luis Severino. The 24-year-old Frelick is returning to the lineup after suffering a bone bruise in his left hip last Saturday against these same Mets. He doesn't really scare opposing pitchers with a bat in his hand, as the former first-rounder hit .259 (123-for-475) with only two home runs and 32 RBI in 475 at-bats this year. Frelick is mainly a speed guy (18 steals) and is valuable to the Brewers for his ability to handle all outfield positions and even play some infield in a pinch. His presence on the playoff roster is bad news for Blake Perkins.

Mon Sep 30 202420:13Sal Frelick Says He's Good To Go For Playoffs
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (hip) said he's good to go for the start of the wild-card series at American Family Field on Tuesday against the New York Mets, but the ultimate decision will be up to the coaching staff, and the final roster for the wild-card series is due on Tuesday morning. Manager Pat Murphy said Frelick's status for the wild-card round is uncertain after he was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left hip over the weekend. The 24-year-old was due to get some testing done on Monday to determine if he's ready to go. Frelick is mostly useful to the Brewers for his speed and defensively abilities at multiple spots in the outfield and infield. He hit .259 in 475 at-bats during the regular season and had only two home runs, 32 RBI, 18 steal and 66 runs scored. Blake Perkins would see more action in Milwaukee's outfield for this week's wild-card series against the Mets if the Brew Crew doesn't include Frelick on the roster.

Fri Sep 27 202421:44Sal Frelick Leaves Game Early After Collision Into Wall
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (undisclosed) left the Brewers game against the New York Mets early after crashing into the wall attempting to catch a foul ball in the top of the second inning. He was replaced by Garrett Mitchell after going 0-for-2 at the plate. Frelick was limping heavily while leaving the field, certainly not a sight the Brewers wanted to see with the playoffs right around the corner. No information on his condition has been released by the team yet, and until then, he should be considered day-to-day, though it won't be surprising to see the Brewers rest the 24-year-old throughout the weekend. Frelick was subpar at the plate in 2024, hitting for just an 83 OPS+. Much of his value lies in his fielding skills, though, as his sprint speed and OAA both rank in the 90th percentiles in 2024. Should he miss any time in the playoffs, it will certainly be a blow to a surprisingly strong Brewers team. Mitchell should be expected to get starts if Frelick misses any time.UPDATE: Manager Pat Murphy said Frelick will have an MRI exam on his left hip on Saturday. X-rays at the stadium were inconclusive.

Wed Jul 24 202414:04Sal Frelick Out On Wednesday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick will take a seat on Wednesday for the series finale at Wrigley Field against the division-rival Chicago Cubs. With Frelick getting the day off, Blake Perkins will start in center field and bat ninth, with Garrett Mitchell moving to right field while batting sixth against Cubs left-hander Justin Steele. The 24-year-old Frelick is mainly sitting due to a left-hander being on the bump. Frelick is batting a pedestrian .250 (11-for-44) with one of his two home runs against southpaws this year. Aside from speed (14 stolen bases) and runs (45), Frelick doesn't offer much for fantasy managers, although he does have a decent .342 on-base percentage. With Christian Yelich (back) potentially missing the rest of the year, Frelick should be in Milwaukee's lineup regularly against right-handed pitchers the rest of the way.

Wed May 22 202416:03Brice Turang, Sal Frelick Sitting Against Lefty
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang and outfielder Sal Frelick are both out of the starting lineup on Wednesday with a left-hander on the mound. Turang and Frelick are on the bench for the third straight day with the Miami Marlins just bombarding the Brewers with lefty starters. With the two lefty hitters out again for Milwaukee, Andruw Monasterio is playing second and batting leadoff, with Blake Perkins in center field and in the nine-hole against Marlins lefty Jesus Luzardo. Even in the leadoff spot on Wednesday, the 26-year-old Monasterio is a deep DFS sleeper while entering the day with a .182 average (4-for-22) with a homer, two RBI and two steals in just 12 games. Perkins is even more of a DFS long shot at the bottom of the batting order for the Brew Crew. Perkins has four homers while hitting .233 (31-for-133) in 2024.

Sat Apr 27 202418:16Sal Frelick Out Of The Lineup Saturday Night
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's tilt with the New York Yankees. Frelick will sit against the Yankees' left-hander, Carlos Rodon. Joey Wiemer will take his place in left field and hit ninth. Frelick is hitting .267 with no home runs, five RBI, three stolen bases, and 14 runs scored. Frelick is only 2-for-18 since last Saturday. Frelick has 101 plate appearances thus far in 2024, and only eight of those have come against left-handed pitching. This appears to be the case Saturday night. Look for him back in the lineup Sunday afternoon when veteran right-hander Marcus Stroman takes the mound for the Yankees.

Tue Apr 2 202412:07Sal Frelick In Leadoff Spot Again Tuesday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick is starting in center field and is batting leadoff again on Tuesday against the visiting Minnesota Twins and right-hander Louie Varland. Frelick was on the bench for the season opener last Thursday against a left-hander, but since then he's started and hit leadoff in three straight games. It's good news for Frelick when the Brewers face right-handed pitchers, although he's off to a slow start at the plate through two games played, going 1-for-9 with a stolen base and a run scored. The 23-year-old also worked on the infield in spring training and could be an option for the Brew Crew at second or third base on occasion in 2024 given all of the team's outfield options. Frelick isn't a bad DFS play on days he's hitting leadoff against a right-hander.

Wed Mar 20 202413:29Sal Frelick To Play Third Base Against Righties?
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg writes that it seems like the Milwaukee Brewers are intent on outfielder Sal Frelick being the primary third baseman against right-handers this year. Frelick hasn't seen much action at the hot corner in Cactus League games, but he's shown in drills in camp that he's gotten more comfortable at the position and is very fluid and smooth drifting to the ball. RotoBaller has Frelick ranked as the No. 65 fantasy outfielder for 2024, but he's going to become more valuable to managers when he gains third base eligibility. It's a move that will make things easier for the team given their crowded outfield picture. The former first-rounder hit .246/.341/.351 with three homers, 24 RBI and seven stolen bases in 57 games in his rookie year in 2023.

Fri Feb 23 202412:26Sal Frelick To Play Third Base In Spring Opener
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick will bat leadoff and play third base in the team's Cactus League opener on Saturday against the San Diego Padres. Given all of the outfield depth that Milwaukee has at the big-league level, the Brewers have had Frelick working out on the infield in camp, and they are going to throw him in there at the hot corner right away to kick things off this weekend. The 23-year-old is an exceptional athlete, but it would still be a bit of a stretch to think that he'll play regularly on the dirt for the Brew Crew in 2024. Frelick hit .246 (47-for-191) with three homers, 24 RBI and seven stolen bases in his first 57 major-league games last year. The former first-rounder takes his walks and doesn't strike out much, giving him upside as an average and runs contributor atop Milwaukee's lineup.

Sat Feb 17 202412:29Sal Frelick Working Out On The Infield
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick has been working out at second and third base this offseason under the tutelage of former big-league second baseman Dustin Pedroia. Frelick rated as an above-average defender in both right and center field in his rookie season in 2023, but he's adding to his versatility in camp. The arrival of top prospect Jackson Chourio and the return of Garrett Mitchell, who missed most of last year with a shoulder injury, give the Brew Crew a surplus of outfielders. If Milwaukee likes what they see from Frelick on the infield, he could become a possibility for them at the hot corner or at the keystone in 2024. The 23-year-old former first-rounder would greatly increase his fantasy value by adding to his positional eligibility, but it remains to be seen if that will actually happen. Despite underwhelming at the plate in 2023, Frelick has great plate discipline and could serve as a high-average leadoff man for fantasy managers.
