It remains to be seen if he'll be able to return from the IL when he's eligible on May 14. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues shouldn't view Feltner as a must-stash arm while he's out. He's gone 0-2 on the year with a 4.75 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in his six starts covering 30 1/3 frames.

Despite Feltner's gutsy performance on Thursday, we'd recommend avoiding him next time out against L.A. He's pitched well through three starts, though, posting a 2.81 ERA with 16 K's and four walks in 16 innings pitched.

Feltner has gone 3-10 this year with a 4.66 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings over his 29 starts.

The team also recalled right-hander Jake Bird from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned right-hander Peter Lambert to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner will make the start on Monday at Coors Field against the Miami Marlins. He threw 2 2/3 innings for Albuquerque on Aug. 21 in a minor-league rehab start and gave up five runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Manager Bud Black had been hoping Feltner would have gone three or four innings, so expect him to be on a pitch count in his first start back on Monday. It's a great matchup for the 27-year-old, but we still wouldn't recommend him as a streamer, especially at Coors.

Feltner hasn't really been a fantasy asset in standard-sized mixed leagues, as he's gone just 1-10 on the year with a 5.00 ERA (4.30 FIP) and 1.41 WHIP with a career-high 107 strikeouts and 39 walks in 122 1/3 innings over his 23 starts for the Rockies. However, he hadn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last eight starts, dating back to June 26.

Over his last eight appearances since June 26, the 27-year-old right-hander is winless with 17 walks but holds a 3.02 ERA with 34 strikeouts across 41 2/3 innings for the Rockies.

It was a pleasant surprise from the 27-year-old who posted a 5.82 ERA in 2023 (10 starts) and a 5.83 ERA in 2022 (19 starts) while averaging less than a K per inning for his career. With that track record, fantasy managers will want to see him prove himself consistently before rostering him though. He'll get another chance next Friday in Toronto against the Blue Jays.

Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner (head, elbow), who took a line drive to the head on May 13 last year that fractured his skull, is healthy now and is ready to compete for a roster spot in spring training with both German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela recovering from Tommy John surgery. Barring injuries or roster additions, Feltner will be competing with fellow righties Peter Lambert and Noah Davis, plus non-roster lefty Ty Blach. Feltner finished spring action with an ugly 9.92 ERA, 2.20 WHIP, 10 walks and 10 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings. Needless to say, fantasy managers should avoid him as a streamer against LA on Monday.
