Fri May 2 | 18:27 | Rockies Place Ryan Feltner On 15-Day Injured List With Back Spasms |
The Colorado Rockies announced on Friday that they placed right-hander Ryan Feltner (back) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 29) with back spasms and recalled right-handed pitching prospect Bradley Blalock from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner will now miss the next two weeks after having his last start pushed back from Sunday to Monday. The 28-year-old wasn't sharp in the loss to the Atlanta Braves, allowing five runs on a season-high 10 hits allowed while walking one and striking out four in 4 2/3 innings. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to return from the IL when he's eligible on May 14. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues shouldn't view Feltner as a must-stash arm while he's out. He's gone 0-2 on the year with a 4.75 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in his six starts covering 30 1/3 frames. |

Thu Apr 10 | 19:33 | Ryan Feltner Records Quality Start Despite Pitching Through The Flu |
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that right-hander Ryan Feltner (illness) pitched through the flu in the team's 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday at Coors Field. It makes Feltner's outing even more impressive, as he held a Brewers offense that put up 17 runs the night before to just one earned run in six innings to pick up a quality start. The 28-year-old didn't earn a win, but he allowed only three hits while walking two and striking out seven while being under the weather. We'd venture to guess that Feltner will be feeling better in time for his next outing, which is scheduled to come next Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite Feltner's gutsy performance on Thursday, we'd recommend avoiding him next time out against L.A. He's pitched well through three starts, though, posting a 2.81 ERA with 16 K's and four walks in 16 innings pitched. |

Sun Sep 29 2024 | 12:32 | Ryan Feltner Set To Start On Sunday |
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Ryan Feltner (arm) is set to start in the final game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Feltner left his previous start early due to cramping but that injury does not seem serious as he will get the nod in the season finale. The Ohio State product has held a 4.66 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, with a 50:135 BB:K ratio across 156 1/3 innings of work. The right-hander has held a slightly higher 5.53 ERA and 1.49 WHIP at home, where he will pitch this afternoon against a high-powered Dodger offense. DFS players should look to avoid Feltner in this start as he will have a tall task ahead of him. |

Wed Sep 25 2024 | 16:20 | Ryan Feltner Dealing With Arm Cramps |
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said that right-hander Ryan Feltner (arm) was dealing with some cramping in his right arm during his outing on Tuesday at Coors Field against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Black decided he didn't want Feltner to continue to pitch through the cramping after he made one pitch to start the seventh inning. The skipper said Feltner should be fine to make his final start of the year on Sunday in the season finale against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Fantasy managers still playing for a championship will want to avoid Feltner in that matchup, especially coming off a minor injury. He managed a quality start on Tuesday despite his injury, tossing six innings of two-run ball while walking one and striking out six in a no-decision. Feltner has gone 3-10 this year with a 4.66 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings over his 29 starts. |

Mon Aug 26 2024 | 19:39 | Ryan Feltner Reinstated And Starting On Monday |
The Colorado Rockies reinstated right-hander Ryan Feltner (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Monday and placed left-hander Lucas Gilbreath (shoulder) on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move due to left-shoulder inflammation. The team also recalled right-hander Jake Bird from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned right-hander Peter Lambert to Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner will make the start on Monday at Coors Field against the Miami Marlins. He threw 2 2/3 innings for Albuquerque on Aug. 21 in a minor-league rehab start and gave up five runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Manager Bud Black had been hoping Feltner would have gone three or four innings, so expect him to be on a pitch count in his first start back on Monday. It's a great matchup for the 27-year-old, but we still wouldn't recommend him as a streamer, especially at Coors. |

Thu Aug 8 2024 | 14:22 | Rockies Place Ryan Feltner On 15-Day Injured List |
The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander Ryan Feltner (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with a right-shoulder strain and recalled right-hander Riley Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Feltner was headed for the IL after leaving his start on Wednesday versus the visiting New York Mets after just one inning of work due to a lat/shoulder injury. It remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will be ready to return from the IL when he's eligible on Aug. 27. Feltner hasn't really been a fantasy asset in standard-sized mixed leagues, as he's gone just 1-10 on the year with a 5.00 ERA (4.30 FIP) and 1.41 WHIP with a career-high 107 strikeouts and 39 walks in 122 1/3 innings over his 23 starts for the Rockies. However, he hadn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last eight starts, dating back to June 26. |

Thu Aug 8 2024 | 00:48 | Ryan Feltner Likely Going On Injured List |
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said after Wednesday night's loss to the visiting New York Mets at Coors Field that starting pitcher Ryan Feltner (shoulder, lat) was pulled from his start after one inning due to posterior shoulder soreness and a lat issue. Feltner is likely going to head to the injured list as a result. It remained unclear for quite some time why Feltner was removed from Wednesday's contest after he threw just 24 pitches and struck out one while allowing one run on two hits, but it now sounds like he could be out of action for a decent period of time. Over his last eight appearances since June 26, the 27-year-old right-hander is winless with 17 walks but holds a 3.02 ERA with 34 strikeouts across 41 2/3 innings for the Rockies. |

Sun Apr 7 2024 | 10:15 | Ryan Feltner Strikes Out 10 Rays Saturday |
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Ryan Feltner threw six strong innings in Saturday's 8-6 loss to the Rays. Feltner allowed just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 10 in what should have been a win, however, the Rockies' bullpen imploded which resulted in a no-decision for the righty. It was a pleasant surprise from the 27-year-old who posted a 5.82 ERA in 2023 (10 starts) and a 5.83 ERA in 2022 (19 starts) while averaging less than a K per inning for his career. With that track record, fantasy managers will want to see him prove himself consistently before rostering him though. He'll get another chance next Friday in Toronto against the Blue Jays. |

Fri Feb 2 2024 | 12:45 | Ryan Feltner Ready To Compete For Rotation Spot |
Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner (head, elbow), who took a line drive to the head on May 13 last year that fractured his skull, is healthy now and is ready to compete for a roster spot in spring training with both German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela recovering from Tommy John surgery. Barring injuries or roster additions, Feltner will be competing with fellow righties Peter Lambert and Noah Davis, plus non-roster lefty Ty Blach. After returning from his head injury late in 2023, Feltner ended the year on the injured list with elbow inflammation and finished 2-4 with a 5.82 ERA (4.18 FIP) and 1.68 WHIP with 28 walks and 38 strikeouts in 10 starts. The 27-year-old showed increased four-seam fastball velocity when he returned late last year after relying more on his two-seam sinking fastball earlier in the year. If Feltner can stay healthy and become more of a power pitcher, he could have a shot to stick in Colorado's rotation. |

Mon Sep 18 2023 | 21:46 | Ryan Feltner To Be Reinstated From Injured List For Tuesday Start |
Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner (head) is expected to be reinstated from the injured list to make the start for his team against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Feltner has been sidelined since mid-May after taking a liner off of his head while on the mound. He wound up suffering a concussion and a fractured skull but his ability to return to the mound is an uplifting story late in the season. Feltner has a 2-3 record and a 5.86 ERA across 35 1/3 innings of work this season. |

Sun May 14 2023 | 13:48 | Ryan Feltner Lands On The Injured List |
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Ryan Feltner (head) has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a skull fracture. Feltner took a comebacker off his head in his start on Saturday in what was a very scary moment. He walked off the field without help but stayed in the hospital overnight. It's unclear how long he will be out as he has no timetable at the moment. Riley Pint was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. |

Sun May 14 2023 | 00:56 | Ryan Feltner Under Observation |
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Ryan Feltner (head) exited Saturday's meeting with the Phillies. The 26-year-old didn't last long before taking a ball to his head via a line drive by Nick Castellanos. Skipper Bud Black provided an update postgame, reporting that Feltner was sent to the hospital, where he will remain for observation. The righty has gone 2-2 in seven starts this season and is currently sitting on a 5.08 ERA. While he isn't a consistent fantasy producer outside of strikeouts, everyone is certainly hoping for a positive update, which may come on Sunday. |

Wed Mar 29 2023 | 13:16 | Ryan Feltner To Open Season As No. 5 Starter |
Colorado Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner will open the 2023 season as the team's No. 5 starter. The 26-year-old's first outing of the regular season is scheduled for Monday, April 4, on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Feltner went 4-9 with a 5.83 ERA in 20 games (19 starts) as a rookie for the Rockies last year. He'll be hoping to be better than he was in his final Cactus League start on Monday, when he allowed two home runs and walked four in 4 1/3 innings. The key for him will be moving the ball around the zone and not becoming predictable on the mound. Feltner finished spring action with an ugly 9.92 ERA, 2.20 WHIP, 10 walks and 10 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings. Needless to say, fantasy managers should avoid him as a streamer against LA on Monday. |
