Sat Apr 1223:02Jose Miranda Optioned To Triple-A
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda will be headed to Triple-A after a slow start to the season and a costly mistake on the basepaths on Saturday. Miranda went just 6-for-36 (.167) in his 12 games before being sent down. On Saturday, he singled as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning and thought he was forced out at second base. However, second baseman Colt Keith didn't touch the base, and Miranda was called safe. Miranda didn't realize the call, though, and started walking back to the dugout before getting to second base himself, allowing Keith to tag him to kill the potential rally. Whether it was that mistake or his lack of performance in the early part of the season that forced the issue, the 26-year-old will head back to Triple-A and can be dropped in almost all formats.

Fri Apr 1117:31Jose Miranda Getting The Day Off On Friday
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Detroit Tigers at Target Field. Miranda will be given a day to clear his head after a tough start to the season at the plate. The 26-year-old has gone just 5-for-35 (.143) with a homer, five RBI, no walks and 13 strikeouts in 35 trips to the plate over 11 games played. Willi Castro will get the start at the hot corner and will hit second, while Edouard Julien is at the keystone and is batting sixth against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. The switch-hitting Castro will be the more attractive piece for DFS lineups, although he's hitting just .214 (9-for-42) with a homer, four RBI and four runs scored in the early going. He's hitless with an RBI in only two career at-bats against Olson. Julien has two hits and two RBI in 10 career at-bats versus Olson.

Thu Apr 312:30Jose Miranda Out Again On Thursday
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda is on the bench for the second straight day on Thursday against the visiting Houston Astros at Target Field. Willi Castro is making the start at the hot corner and will hit sixth versus Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Miranda has an opportunity for regular playing time at third base early on in 2025 due to Royce Lewis' (hamstring) latest injury, but so far he hasn't taken advantage by going 3-for-18 with two RBI, a run scored, no walks and six strikeouts in his first five games played. The 26-year-old Puerto Rican infielder may need to pick it up at the plate soon in order to keep Castro from spelling him more often at third. Castro, who also hails from Puerto Rico, is 5-for-20 early on with a homer and three RBI. He's faced Brown eight times in his MLB career and is hitting .625 against him with one RBI.

Fri Feb 2107:34Jose Miranda Expected To See Plenty Of Playing Time
Minnesota Twins first baseman/third baseman Jose Miranda is expected to see plenty of playing time, even with Ty France slotting in as the everyday first baseman. Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic noted that Miranda has "abundant" playing time at the hot corner and at the designated hitter spot. Last season, Miranda saw most of the work at third base (78 starts) but did see time at DH (27 starts) and first base (13 starts). Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that France is expected to be the everyday first baseman. After struggling during his first two MLB seasons, Miranda enjoyed a strong third year as he held a .284/.322/.441 line with 28 doubles and nine home runs across 121 games. Fantasy managers should expect Miranda to alternate starts at the hot corner and the DH spot with Royce Lewis and also occasionally see time at first base when France is out of the lineup. Given his strong play last season, he does have value in deeper formats, even if he is not guaranteed an everyday spot in the lineup.

Sat Sep 28 202413:12Jose Miranda Hits 10-Day Injured List
Minnesota Twins first baseman/third baseman Jose Miranda (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday afternoon, which will sideline him for the remainder of the 2024 season with the Twins eliminated from the playoff picture. Miranda was scratched from Thursday's lineup with a back injury and remained sidelined on Friday evening. In a corresponding move, the Twins promoted infielder Michael Helman. Miranda had a solid 2024 campaign as he posted a .284/.322/.441 line with nine home runs. This was a significant improvement over the .211 AVG he held last season. The 26-year-old was one of the best hitters in the sport during July as he held an incredible .439/.477/.634 slash line. Fantasy managers should view Miranda as a depth corner infield option heading into the 2025 campaign.

Thu Sep 26 202421:00Jose Miranda Scratched From Thursday's Lineup
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda (back) was scratched from Thursday's lineup due to lower back tightness, according to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com. He was replaced by Austin Martin. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to the Minnesota starting nine in their final series against the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend, as Miranda may remain sidelined. After posting a disappointing .211 AVG last season, the 26-year-old enjoyed an excellent bounce-back campaign this summer as he sits with a solid .284/.322/.441 slash line. Miranda was one of the best hitters in the sport during June and July, as he boasted a stellar .367/.415/.578 line. If Miranda remains out, fantasy managers should expect Brooks Lee to see an increase in opportunities at the hot corner.

Mon Sep 16 202418:21Jose Miranda Absent On Monday
Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. The right-handed slugger is having a breakout season with .292 batting average with nine home runs and 49 RBI across 117 games. However, Miranda has struggled to the tune of a .229 average against left-handed pitching. In his absence, Ryan Jeffers will serve as the designated hitter while Royce Lewis covers third base against left-handed Matthew Boyd. Fantasy managers who have Miranda rostered should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Sun Sep 15 202412:15Jose Miranda Sitting On Sunday
Minnesota Twins first baseman/third baseman Jose Miranda will sit out on Sunday as the Twins close out a series against the Cincinnati Reds. This is the third time this week that Miranda has been held out of the starting nine. This is due to the Twins welcoming back Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa from the injured list. As a result, the Minnesota lineup has become quite crowded, and Miranda seems to be the odd man out. Since the start of the month, the 26-year-old has held a mere .244/.244/.311 line with just one double, one RBI, and no home runs. However, from June through August, the infielder posted a strong .343/.386/.544 line. As a result, Trevor Larnach will serve as the designated hitter. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Miranda's status as he may not be a reliable fantasy asset down the stretch due to his drop in playing time.

Wed Sep 11 202418:18Jose Miranda Heads To The Bench
Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda heads to the bench ahead of Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. This is a much-needed day off for Miranda who has started in each of the last 10 games. The 26-year-old is in the middle of a breakout campaign. Through 115 games, Miranda is hitting .295 with nine home runs and 49 RBI in 2024. He has moved around from first base, third base, and the designated hitter spot this season. Carlos Santana moves first base while Trevor Larnach serves as the designated hitter and bats cleanup versus right-hander Jack Kochanowicz on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should expect Miranda to be back in the lineup after this game.

Mon Aug 5 202419:19Jose Miranda, Brooks Lee Out Versus Cubs
Minnesota Twins infielders Jose Miranda and Brooks Lee are absent from the starting lineup at Wrigley Field on Monday against the hosting Chicago Cubs. Royce Lewis is playing third base and is batting third, while Matt Wallner will operate as the designated hitter and bat cleanup against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Austin Martin is at the keystone and batting ninth for the Twins. Miranda was on fire at the dish before going on the injured list before the All-Star break and has gone 6-for-20 (.300) with two doubles and an RBI in six games since coming off the IL on July 27. Lee started in 24 straight games after his first big-league call-up but will head to the bench for the second straight day. The 23-year-old has gone 4-for-23 (.174) since Miranda returned from the IL and will need to start swinging a hotter bat to hold off Martin at second base.

Tue Jul 30 202414:55Jose Miranda Returns To Lineup On Tuesday
The Minnesota Twins welcome back third baseman Jose Miranda (head), who will bat cleanup in Tuesday's game against the New York Mets and left-hander Sean Manaea. Miranda was hit in the head with a 95 mph fastball in Sunday's win over the Detroit Tigers and was able to pass preliminary concussion tests. He is batting .324/.367/.517 with nine homers, 43 RBI, 35 runs scored, and two stolen bases in three attempts. Given the way that Miranda has swung the bat this month, fantasy managers need to get him back in their starting lineups now that he's back.

Sun Jul 28 202414:07Jose Miranda Leaves Sunday’s Game Early
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda (head) left Sunday's game early in the opening frame after getting hit by a pitch on the left side of his batting helmet. Evan Woodbery of the MLive Media Group reported that the 26-year-old was down on the ground for a while but was eventually able to walk off on his power. He was replaced by Austin Martin. This was a scary sight, but fortunately, Miranda was able to stand on his own and walk off the field. The infielder was recently reinstated from the injured list on Saturday after missing a few weeks due to a back injury. Miranda has enjoyed a nice post-hype breakout season this summer as he boasts an excellent .324/.364/.517 line with nine home runs and 43 RBI. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to any updates on the third baseman after Sunday's game.UPDATE: Miranda suffered a head contusion on Sunday and passed the preliminary concussion testing.

Sat Jul 27 202412:02Twins Reinstate Jose Miranda From Injured List
The Minnesota Twins reinstated infielder Jose Miranda (back) from the 10-day injured list on Saturday and optioned infielder Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. It remains to be seen if Miranda will jump right back into Minnesota's starting lineup on Saturday against the division-rival Detroit Tigers, but with regular third baseman Royce Lewis (groin) also coming off the IL on Friday, the Twins are going to have to get a little more creative to keep Miranda's bat in the lineup regularly. However, if he keeps hitting like he was before going on the IL, Minnesota is going to find a spot for Miranda. The 26-year-old finished off the first half of the season as one of the league's hottest hitters. He was carrying a 13-game hitting streak that saw him go 25-for-47 (.532) with a homer, seven doubles, 13 RBI and one steal before going 0-for-4 on July 10.

Tue Jul 23 202420:00Jose Miranda To Start Rehab Assignment On Wednesday
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda (back) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday. As long as Miranda doesn't suffer a setback with his back at St. Paul, there's a chance that Miranda will be activated from the 10-day injured list to rejoin the big-league roster for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Tigers in Detroit. The 26-year-old has been out since before last week's All-Star break with a lower-back strain. Before his injury, Miranda was scorching-hot at the plate, going 28-for-59 (.475) with a homer, nine doubles, 16 RBI, five walks and a stolen base in 16 games since June 22. He snapped a 13-game hitting streak just before he was injured before the All-Star break. Regular third baseman Royce Lewis (groin) is also on track to return from the IL on Friday, but if Miranda picks up where he left off, the Twins will find a lineup spot for him on the daily.

Mon Jul 22 202421:36Jose Miranda May Start Rehab Assignment Tuesday
Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda (back) hit flip tosses in the batting cage on Sunday, and he was expected to progress to running ahead of Monday's series opener against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. The Twins will continue to evaluate Miranda's progress and make further determinations on his timetable, but there's some sense that he could potentially begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday if he continues to recover well. The 26-year-old hitting machine was on an absolute tear over his last 14 games before going down with a strained lower back, batting .490 (25-for-51) with a home run, 13 RBI, and 11 runs scored since June 26. Although star third baseman Royce Lewis (groin) should be back soon, Miranda was playing too well to be left on fantasy waiver wires and could be back as soon as Friday's series opener against the division-rival Detroit Tigers.

Sun Jul 21 202413:56Jose Miranda Not Ready Yet
Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda (back) won't be activated off the injured list on Sunday. The organization was hopeful it would be a minimal stay on the IL for Miranda but that's not the case. Manager Rocco Baldelli said Miranda has shown good improvement but Miranda isn't quite ready to play yet. There is a chance that Miranda does return to the lineup without needing a rehab assignment. Fantasy managers will have to wait and see how Miranda feels over the next few days.

Sat Jul 13 202423:23Jose Miranda Heading To The IL, Diego Castillo Expected To Be Promoted
Minnesota Twins infielder Jose Miranda (back) will be placed on the injured list. The Twins are expected to call up Diego Castillo from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Miranda was scratched from Friday's lineup due to lower-back stiffness and was rested again on Saturday. The 26-year-old will get a few extra days of rest with the All-Star break coming up and will have extended time for his back to heal. Miranda had a terrific first half for the Twins, slashing .325/.366/.522 with nine home runs, 43 RBI, 35 runs, and two stolen bases over 276 plate appearances. Castillo slashed .269/.375/.399 with five homers and seven stolen bases across 283 games with St. Paul. The 26-year-old should have a clear path to everyday at-bats and is a speculative add in most fantasy leagues.

Sat Jul 13 202414:34Jose Miranda Out Again On Saturday
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda (back) is out of the starting lineup again on Saturday afternoon for the second consecutive game due to back stiffness. The 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day for the time being and may also sit out on Sunday and continue to rest over the All-Star Break. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a nice breakout season as he has posted a stellar .325/.366/.522 line with nine home runs and two stolen bases. Earlier this month, Miranda held an incredible 13-game hitting streak and even tallied 13 consecutive hits, which set a new record. As a result, rookie Brooks Lee will start at the hot corner this afternoon and bat in the cleanup spot. Lee has held a strong .333 AVG across his previous nine games and is worth a look in DFS this afternoon as he will face San Francisco right-hander Hayden Birdsong.

Fri Jul 12 202422:21Jose Miranda Scratched With Back Stiffness
The Minnesota Twins scratched third baseman Jose Miranda (back) from Friday's series opener against the hosting San Francisco Giants with lower-back stiffness. Rookie infielder Brooks Lee was originally slated to make his first career big-league start at second base, but the injury to Miranda caused him to be moved to third base while hitting seventh. Willi Castro will now play the keystone and hit fifth for the Twins against Giants left-hander Kyle Harrison. Matt Wallner draws into the lineup in right field and is batting eighth. Even if Miranda's back injury isn't serious, it wouldn't be a surprise if he sat out the entire weekend with the All-Star break coming next week. The 26-year-old has been swinging a hot bat all year in a bounce-back campaign, especially recently, hitting .490 (25-for-51) with a homer, seven doubles, 13 RBI and a steal in 14 games since June 26.

Sat Jul 6 202419:05Jose Miranda Records Hit In 12 Straight At-Bats, A First In The Expansion Era
Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda recorded two hits in his first two at-bats on Saturday, extending his streak to 12 straight at-bats recording a hit. He did get retired once today to go 2-3 at the plate with an RBI in the Twins' 9-3 win over the Houston Astros. Miranda's streak of 12 straight at-bats with a hit was the first time in the expansion era (since 1961) and the first player overall to do it since Walt Dropo recorded 12 straight hits for the Detroit Tigers in 1952. Miranda improved his OPS to .901 on the season, the highest mark of any Twin with at least 100 PA on the season. Fantasy managers should snag up the righty if still available on the waiver wire. He'll get his next opportunity to keep his hot streak going on Sunday against Houston's scheduled starter Spencer Arrighetti.
