Tue May 6 | 17:13 | James Outman Making Season Debut Against Marlins |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday and is making his 2025 MLB debut on Tuesday against the hosting Miami Marlins, starting in center field and batting eighth against Marlins right-hander Cal Quantrill. The 27-year-old is taking the roster spot of Teoscar Hernandez (groin), who landed on the 10-day injured list. With Tommy Edman (ankle) also on the shelf for L.A., Outman could play regularly for the Dodgers, at least against right-handed pitchers. Before joining the Dodgers for the first time this year, Outman was swinging it well with a .254/.322/.508 with an .830 OPS, eight home runs, 27 RBI and five stolen bases in 32 games with OKC. The former seventh-rounder only hit .147 (20-for-136) with 55 K's in 156 trips to the plate in 2024, but he's at least worth a short-term look as outfield depth in NL-only leagues. |

Tue Apr 29 | 06:59 | James Outman Swinging A Hot Bat At Triple-A |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman has enjoyed an impressive week at Triple-A and was named Pacific Coast League Hitter of the Week. Over his last seven contests, the outfielder has held a .448/.467/.828 slash line with three doubles, one triple, and two home runs. He has also swiped two bags over this stretch and posted three multi-hit games. This is an excellent sign for Outman, as he held a modest .172/.264/.370 slash line over his first 19 games of the regular season. Outman spent most of the 2023 season in the majors but appeared in only 53 games in 2024, as he was frequently shifted between the big leagues and Triple-A. Fantasy managers should monitor his progression at Oklahoma City, as he could be in the mix to return to the majors. If he does get the call, he could be worth adding in NL-only formats. |

Fri Jul 5 2024 | 19:44 | Jason Heyward To The Injured List, James Outman Recalled |
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Jason Heyward (knee) on the 10-day injured list with a left-knee contusion, according to manager Dave Roberts. The good news is that Heyward's meniscus and ligaments are intact. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 34-year-old Heyward could be back shortly after the All-Star break as a left-handed-hitting platoon outfielder for LA. Heyward has only 118 at-bats in 2024 due to injuries and is hitting a weak .203/.299/.398 with four homers, 20 RBI and 16 runs scored. Outma, 27, was sent to the farm in May and hit .285/.396/.556 with 10 homers and 22 RBI in 182 plate appearances for Oklahoma City. He figures to see occasional starts against righties. On Friday, Miguel Vargas enters the outfield picture in left field and will bat seventh for the Blue. |

Fri Jun 21 2024 | 07:07 | James Outman Hits Third Home Run Of The Week |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman went 2-for-5 with a home run Thursday evening. In his past seven games at Triple-A Oklahoma City, the 27-year-old has launched three long balls and held a strong .594 SLG. The Sacramento State product was demoted to Triple-A on May 27 after getting off to a slow start in the majors. Through his time in the minors this season, Outman has performed exceptionally well with a .291/.419/.563, seven long home runs, five swiped bags, 18 RBI, and a 19:31 BB:K ratio. In 36 games in the majors in the early part of the season, Outman struggled with a .147/.250/.266 line, which is why he was optioned. However, with his recent play at Triple-A he could rejoin the Dodgers fairly soon and could be worth adding in deeper redraft leagues as he should provide a solid combination of power and speed. |

Mon Jun 17 2024 | 09:35 | James Outman Goes Deep For Triple-A Oklahoma City |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman went 1-for-5 with a solo home run for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. Outman has had three homers and eight RBI in June, along with a .226 batting average. The 27-year-old was optioned to Triple-A by the Dodgers on May 17. Since then, he has hit .292 with six homers, 16 RBI, and a .987 OPS. With Mookie Betts (hand) set to miss time, Outman could be on the radar for a call-up to the major leagues. He hit just .147 in 109 at-bats with the Dodgers this season, but his numbers since his demotion to the minors have been good, and they suggest he may be ready for another shot in L.A. Given another opportunity, Outman could be an interesting waiver-wire addition. |

Fri May 31 2024 | 13:19 | James Outman Performing Well Since Demotion |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman has been performing well since being moved down to Triple-A and should be back up in the major leagues fairly soon. Through nine games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, the 27-year-old has posted a .333/.524/.567 line with two home runs, four RBI, two stolen bases, and a 10:13 BB:K ratio. Outman had a big game on Thursday where he tallied three hits, including a home run, and brought in two runs. The former seventh-round pick struggled at the plate during the early part of the season and posted a poor .147/.250/.266 line, which resulted in his demotion. However, Outman is looking much more comfortable since taking some time in the minor leagues and is worth stashing in deeper redraft leagues as he could still provide fantasy managers with a solid combination of power and speed when he returns to Los Angeles. |

Fri May 17 2024 | 19:49 | James Outman Sent Down |
The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned outfielder James Outman to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday to make room on the active roster for outfielder Jason Heyward (back), who was activated from the 10-day injured list. Outman impressed with 23 home runs, 70 RBI and 16 stolen bases in his first full big-league season in 2023 with the Blue, but he hasn't been able to replicate that so far in 2024, slashing .147/.250/.266 with three homers, 10 RBI and two stolen bases in 36 games. Rookie sensation Andy Pages basically took over the strong side of a platoon with Outman in center field before Outman's demotion on Friday. The demotion is good news for fantasy managers that swooped on Pages quickly. The 27-year-old Outman will now need to make some adjustments in the minors before he'll get another opportunity against right-handed pitching in the big leagues. |

Sun May 12 2024 | 14:03 | James Outman Absent From Sunday's Lineup |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the San Diego Padres. Outman had started five of the Dodgers last six games. The 26-year-old was a surprising source of offense last season, but he is batting a dismal .114 with one home run across his last 15 contests. Enrique Hernandez will start in left field and bat seventh in Outman's absence. Hernandez has also struggled at the plate this season and is 1-for-8 in his career against Padres starter Yu Darvish. He is not a recommended DFS play for Sunday's slate. |

Wed Apr 10 2024 | 09:23 | James Outman Continues To Heat Up |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's victory against the Minnesota Twins. The home run would be the second in as many days for the outfielder that was struggling entering the week. Outman was hot and cold in 2023, but dominant when things were going right. Outman's performance raises his average to .175, but five of his seven hits on the season have come over the last six games. As an everyday player in one of the best lineups in the league, Outman should be rostered in most formats. He will look to make it three games in a row with a homer versus Chris Paddack and the Twins on Wednesday. |

Sun Apr 7 2024 | 13:05 | James Outman Hits The Bench Sunday |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is absent from the team's starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Chicago Cubs. Outman has not started against a southpaw all season and that trend continues with Shota Imanaga on the mound. In Outman's absence, Enrique Hernandez will start in centerfield and bat sixth. Hernandez is batting .222 with three RBI across 18 at-bats in 2024. He is nothing more than a DFS dart-throw when he is in the starting lineup. |

Wed Mar 6 2024 | 09:10 | James Outman Having Nice Spring |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman has been enjoying a nice Cactus League thus far. Entering his second season, the young outfielder is hitting .429 with two homers, four RBI and three stolen bases over his first 14 at-bats. Outman had an impressive rookie campaign with a .248 batting average to go along with 23 homers, 70 RBI and 16 stolen bases and will look to build off of that in 2024. Part of one of the best lineups in the league, Outman should have plenty of counting stats to go along offering power and speed. Despite having hot and cold results as a rookie, he is worth a look in all formats. |

Wed Oct 11 2023 | 19:40 | James Outman To Sit Out Game 3 |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is not in the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's Game 3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers will opt to use Kike Hernandez in center field versus right-hander Brandon Pfaadt on Wednesday. Outman is 0-for-5 with three strikeouts over the first two games in this series. The Dodgers can't afford to use another game, so they will shake it up with Hernandez on Wednesday. |

Wed Aug 16 2023 | 18:56 | James Outman Sitting Versus Lefty |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. This appears to be a matchup move to stack the lineup with right-handed hitters versus left-hander Wade Miley. Chris Taylor and Kike Hernandez will move into the outfield with Outman and Jason Heyward sitting out on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should expect Outman to be back in the lineup after this contest. |

Sun May 28 2023 | 09:32 | Will Smith, James Outman Both Sitting On Sunday |
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith and outfielder James Outman are not in Sunday's lineup for an early 11:35 am first-pitch time against the Tampa Bay Rays. It's a routine day off for the backstop, Smith, who is exceptionally slashing .315/.418/.535 with seven homers and 28 RBI this season. Expect the 28-year-old to return for Monday's series opener with the Washington Nationals. For the center fielder, Outman, it's not only a matchup-based absence against southpaw Josh Fleming, but perhaps a respite during a trying 0-for-15 skid. Fantasy managers hope that the 26-year-old hurdles the rookie wall soon, but he's still producing a sufficient .240/.330/.485 slash line with nine long balls, 28 RBI, and five stolen bases this season. |

Sat May 27 2023 | 13:47 | James Outman Absent From The Starting Lineup On Saturday |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is not in the lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. This looks to just be a day off for the 26-year-old who's slashing just .156/.235/.267 over the last 15 games. Mookie Betts is starting in right field, Jason Heyward is in center, and David Peralta is in left field against Tampa starter Tyler Glasnow, who is making his season debut. |

Sat May 20 2023 | 16:34 | James Outman Sitting Out On Saturday |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. This looks to be a routine day off for the rookie outfielder. Outman has been hot this season, slashing .263/.353/.533 with nine home runs, 27 RBI, and five steals in 41 games. Veteran outfielder Jason Heyward will cover center field and bat seventh versus righty Miles Mikolas on Saturday. |

Wed May 17 2023 | 21:01 | James Outman Powers Dodgers With Grand Slam |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman launched a grand slam in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. Outman broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh after Miguel Vargas drove in the tying run to set him up with bases loaded and two outs. The 26-year-old cranked his ninth homer of the season and second career grand slam. The ball traveled 407 feet and landed just out of the reach of Twins center fielder Michael A. Taylor. Outman is slashing .264/.354/.903 with nine homers and 27 RBI. He also boasts a 140 wRC+, .376 wOBA, and a 1.4. He's been one of the most impactful rookie position players since the beginning of the year and is already a candidate for NL Rookie of the Year. |

Fri May 12 2023 | 18:45 | James Outman Absent On Friday |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the San Diego Padres. The left-handed slugger will receive a rare off day here. It seems like a good time with left-hander Blake Snell on the mound for San Diego. Outman has been hot to start the season, hitting .281/.374/.578 with eight home runs and 23 RBI in 38 games. Mookie Betts, Chris Taylor, and Trayce Thompson will cover the outfield on Friday with Outman sitting out. |

Sat Apr 22 2023 | 18:56 | James Outman Has Four-Hit, Two-Homer Game |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman had another big game at the plate Saturday, going 4-for-5 with two home runs. He drove in four and scored twice. With seven homers, 19 RBI, and a .314/.407/.714 slash line, Outman has been one of the best performers of the young season. Ride the hot wave as long as possible, but the rookie's 31.6% strikeout percentage and .257 xBA point to some regression eventually. |

Tue Apr 18 2023 | 21:40 | James Outman Leading Off Tuesday |
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is playing center field and leading off in Tuesday's game against Tylor Megill and the New York Mets. The rookie has been sensational at the plate thus far through 17 games, slashing .277/.414/.617 with three homers, nine runs, 10 RBI, and two stolen bases. With Mookie Betts on the paternity list for the next few days, fantasy managers can expect Outman to continue leading off before he returns. The Dodgers offensive potential gives the 25-year-old extra value. But even without the leadoff role, Outman should be rostered in just about every format. |
