Sat Apr 1913:16Jordan Walker, Pedro Pages Sitting On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker and catcher Pedro Pages are not in the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon when the Cardinals continue a series against the New York Mets. Walker has been in the starting nine for each of their previous eight contests. During this stretch, the former 21st overall pick has held a modest .188/.188/.313 slash line with one double and a home run. Through 19 games this season, Walker has held a .239/.299/.338 slash line with two home runs and two stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect the 22-year-old to return to the lineup on Sunday. Pages has taken over top catching duties with Ivan Herrera (knee) on the 10-day injured list. Pages has held a .207 AVG over his last eight games. As a result, Brendan Donovan, Lars Nootbaar, and Victor Scott II will cover the outfield while ... [More]

Mon Apr 1406:32Jordan Walker Homers On Sunday In Cardinals Win
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker slammed his second homer of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium to help the Cardinals get past the Phillies, 7-0. Walker's two-run shot to left field came in the eighth inning off relief pitcher Carlos Hernandez and closed out the scoring for the day. Walker is hitting .275 with two home runs, two stolen bases, and a .336 wOBA in his 14 games this season. He looks much more comfortable at the plate this season after hitting only .201 last year, and he is still just 22 years old, so he still has plenty of breakout potential. The win on Sunday gave the Cardinals the series win over the Phillies and gives them a chance to get to .500 with a win on Monday night against the visiting Astros.

Fri Apr 1115:28Jordan Walker Getting Shot In Two-Hole On Friday
With struggling St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras on the bench on Friday, outfielder Jordan Walker is being bumped up to the No. 2 spot in the batting order against Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola in the series opener. The Cardinals are considering moving Contreras down in the batting order moving forward after his slow start tot he 2025 season, and Walker could be the beneficiary up in the two-hole. The 22-year-old former top prospect was a big disappointment in his first two big-league seasons for the Cards and was sent back to the minors multiple times. However, he will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself this year, and so far, he's looked good. In the first 11 games, he's gone 11-for-39 with a homer, four RBI and two steals. The matchup isn't a great one on Friday, but a permanent move to the two-hole would be great news for Walker's fantasy value going forward.

Wed Apr 209:58Jordan Walker Posts Two More Hits
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. He also singled, scored a run, swiped a bag, and struck out. Walker took Angels pitcher Kyle Hendricks deep in the bottom of the fourth inning for his second HR of the season -- getting the better of the veteran on a nine-pitch at-bat. It was the former first-round pick's second multi-hit game in a row. Walker has been hitting well to start the season, sporting a robust .429/.529/.643 triple-slash with just two strikeouts in 14 at-bats. The 22-year-old is a former top prospect who hit for power and average in the minors.

Sun Mar 3012:46Jordan Walker Resting On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker will get hit first day off of the season on Sunday against the visiting Minnesota Twins at Busch Stadium. Lars Nootbaar is in right field and batting leadoff again, while Brendan Donovan will start in left field and bat third against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. The 22-year-old Walker might be in make-or-break season in St. Louis in 2025, but so far he's off to a good start in his first two ball games of the year, going 2-for-5 with two walks and a run scored in eight plate appearances as the team's regular right-fielder. Walker, the team's former top prospect, struggled in 168 big-league games over two seasons coming into this year with a .255/.317/.423 slash line with 154 strikeouts in 643 plate appearances. If Walker can make more contact, his power stroke will play in fantasy, and he's going to get plenty of run to prove himself.

Sat Mar 1512:14Jordan Walker Returns To Lineup On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker (knee) is returning to the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon. He is slated to cover right field and bat in the six-hole. The former 21st overall selection in the 2020 MLB Draft has been sidelined since early March with this knee injury. However, seeing him return to the lineup suggests he will not face any restrictions by Opening Day. When healthy, Walker is expected to serve as their everyday right fielder. Last season, Walker held an underwhelming .201/.253/.366 slash line with 10 doubles and five home runs across 51 contests. However, he began to find his footing in the final month of the regular season as he posted a much-higher .253/.388/.494 line. During his rookie season, Walker posted a .276/.342/.445 line. The 22-year-old is worth a look as a late-round option in five outfielder leagues as he took significant steps in his development at the end of the 2024 campaign.

Thu Mar 1318:25Jordan Walker Could Return To Action On Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that if all goes well with outfielder Jordan Walker (knee) over the next couple of days in camp, he will return to Grapefruit League action on Saturday. Walker has been out of spring training games since last Tuesday due to left-knee irritation but has taken batting practice and been tracking fly balls in the outfield over the last two days. It looks like the 22-year-old former top prospect is putting his sore knee behind him, and he still has plenty of time to get up to full speed before Opening Day in late March. The former 21st overall pick hit 16 home runs in his rookie season in 2023 but batted .201 with 50 K's in 178 plate appearances last year and was sent to the minors. Walker is going to get his chance as the starting right fielder in 2025, but it might be a make-or-break year for him in St. Louis.

Wed Mar 1223:27Jordan Walker Goes Through Running Progression, On Track For Opening Day
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker (knee) made progress in his return from left knee inflammation, according to manager Oli Marmol. The 22-year-old worked on baserunning movement and did some work in the batting cage. A return to spring games should be around the corner if all goes to plan, and the expectation remains that he'll be ready for Opening Day. The 6-foot-6 slugger is hoping to start 2025 better than he did in 2024 when he slashed .155/.239/.259 before getting sent back to Triple-A by the end of April. The former first-rounder has worked on his swing in the offseason in hopes of a turnaround, so hopefully this injury doesn't set him back too far. The right-handed hitter is penciled in as the team's right fielder, and if he can get back to the 22.4 percent K% he posted in 2023, then a much-improved batting average, along with double-digit home runs and steals could be in the cards. Going at the end of drafts, he could be a value if he can stick with the big league club for the entire year.

Wed Mar 514:07No Structural Damage For Jordan Walker
St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that outfielder Jordan Walker (knee) is dealing with some inflammation in his left knee, but tests didn't show any structural damage after he was forced to leave Tuesday's Grapefruit League game early. Walker will miss around a week in camp to allow his knee to "calm down," according to Marmol. If the 22-year-old former top prospect can avoid any setbacks with his knee, he still has a chance to be in the team's Opening Day starting lineup at the end of this month. The former 21st overall pick in 2020 had another dreadful season for the Cardinals in 2024 and was sent back to the minors, but the good news is that as long as he's healthy, he's going to see regular playing time in right field in what could be a make-or-break season for him in St. Louis. At this point, Walker is merely a late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues for his power.

Wed Mar 510:26Jordan Walker Undergoing Further Testing
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker (knee) underwent tests on his left knee. Walker sustained this injury during Tuesday's spring training contest. John Denton of MLB.com noted that the team should provide an update later on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team will likely keep him sidelined for the time being. During his MLB debut in the 2023 season, Walker logged 113 games and held a .276/.342/.445 slash line with 19 doubles, 16 home runs, and swiped seven bags. In 2024, Walker logged 51 games at the MLB level and held a .201/.253/.366 line with 10 doubles and five home runs. He generated a weak .211 xBA but posted an above-average 43.1 percent hard-hit rate. If Walker were to miss time, Alec Burleson would likely have an increased role in right field.

Tue Mar 414:46Jordan Walker Leaves Early Tuesday With Knee Injury
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker (knee) left Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Washington Nationals due to pain in his left knee, according to the team. Walker will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Jupiter, Fla., to determine the cause and severity of the injury. The 22-year-old departed after just one at-bat and then catching a fly ball in right field in the second inning. Walker most likely tweaked his knee while chasing down the fly ball in the outfield, but we'll have to wait to see if it's a serious enough injury to keep him sidelined for Opening Day in late March. St. Louis' former top prospect had another dismal season in 2024 and was once again optioned to the minors. The former 21st overall pick in 2020 slashed only .201/.253/.366 with five homers, 20 RBI and 50 K's in 178 plate appearances. The good news is he did hit the ball, but making contact was an issue again. The Cardinals plan to give him plenty of run in 2025. It's a make-or-break season for him.

Mon Jan 2014:28Jordan Walker Working On His Swing This Offseason
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker has been working with new hitting coach Brant Brown to retool and rediscover his swing this offseason for what he hopes will be a bounce-back season in 2025. Brown discovered that Walker's hands were separating from his body too soon in his swing last year, and his balance was also inconsistent with the wider stance he used. The 22-year-old will now try to be more of a gap-to-gap hitter instead of trying to mostly loft balls over the fences. The former first-round pick struggled to a .201/.253/.366 slash line with a weak .619 OPS in 51 big-league games in 2024, leading to a minor-league demotion. Walker looked better down the stretch, but his strikeout and walk rates regressed. The good news going into 2025 is that the former top prospect should get a longer leash in St. Louis with the Cards prioritizing giving their young players more playing time.

Mon Sep 2 202400:18Jordan Walker Does It All On Sunday
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker had the best game of his career on Sunday, going 5-for-5 with a homer, four runs scored, three RBI, and a stolen base. Walker improved his AVG from .143 to .195 and his OPS from .439 to .566 in this game alone. It's been a difficult season for the former top prospect, but perhaps a game like this will build confidence for the 22-year-old. He doesn't need to be added in fantasy yet, but he could be a good post-hype sleeper candidate next year.

Fri Aug 30 202418:36Jordan Walker To Play Every Day
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker has been recalled from Triple-A on Friday. This move comes after outfielder Tommy Pham was designated for assignment. That being said, Walker is expected to play every day going forward, according to Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol. The Cardinals have high expectations for Walker that he hasn't quite lived up to yet. Last season, Walker did solid as he hit .276 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI in 117 games. In 2024, Walker is hitting .145 with four RBI in 24 games. He'll cover right field and bat seventh versus right-hander Marcus Stroman on Friday. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues don't need to rush to the waiver wire. It might be better to wait and see if Walker can bounce back at the plate before snagging him.

Fri Aug 30 202415:12Jordan Walker Back With Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals recalled outfielder Jordan Walker from Triple-A Memphis on Friday and designated veteran outfielder Tommy Pham for assignment in a corresponding move. The Cardinals brought Walker up from the minors earlier in August as well, but he went just 1-for-11 in six games before being sent back to the farm. The 22-year-old right-handed slugger should be with St. Louis the rest of the year with rosters expanding in September, but he's likely to be on the short side of a platoon against left-handed pitchers. The former 21st overall pick in 2020 was once one of the team's top prospects and hit .276 with 16 home runs in 117 games in his rookie season in 2023, but he's slashed .145/.228/.232 in 24 big-league games in 2024 with 21 strikeouts and no homers. Walker will be looking to turn things around in the season's final month to gain some positive momentum for 2025.

Tue Aug 20 202416:00Jordan Walker Shipped Back To Triple-A
The St. Louis Cardinals sent outfielder Jordan Walker back to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday in a series of moves by the team. Walker was 1-for-11 in three games after being called up and is hitting .145/.228/.232 with four RBI, and four runs scored in 69 at-bats between his two stints with the Cardinals. The Cardinals also released shortstop Brandon Crawford, who hit .169/.263/.282 with a homer, four RBI, and five runs scored in 71 at-bats. Fantasy managers should let go of any chance Walker can develop into his potential, at least for 2024. As for Crawford, the release could mark the end of his 14-year career that included three All-Star nods and three World Series titles with the San Francisco Giants.

Wed Aug 14 202417:14Nolan Gorman, Jordan Walker Absent On Wednesday
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman and outfielder Jordan Walker are absent from the starting lineup on Wednesday against the division-rival Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park as they try to avoid a sweep. Gorman will get a rest after starting in each of the last six games against right-handed pitching. Brendan Donovan will start at the keystone and bat fifth against Red right-hander Emilio Pagan. Walker started against a lefty on Monday after being recalled from Triple-A Memphis, but he's now been on the bench for two straight games against righties. Tommy Pham is starting in left field and batting eighth, while Lars Nootbaar is in right field and is hitting seventh versus Pagan. The 22-year-old Walker, once a top prospect for the Cardinals, will likely be limited to the short side of a platoon in St. Louis now that he's back in the big leagues.

Mon Aug 12 202414:16Jordan Walker Recalled From Triple-A
The St. Louis Cardinals are calling up outfielder Jordan Walker from Triple-A Memphis ahead of Monday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Walker has been red-hot at the plate in the month of August, hitting .349 with three home runs, two doubles, one triple, and five RBI. With Matt Carpenter (back) landing on the 10-day injured list, the Cardinals decided to call up their former No. 1 prospect on Monday. The 22-year-old struggled offensively in the majors this season, as he hit just .155 with four doubles and four RBI across 20 games. But the potential is there for him to break out following his strong numbers recently at Triple-A. He's worth an add in some 12-plus team leagues, given his upside in this St. Louis offense. Walker hit .276 with 16 HRs and 51 RBI across 117 games with the Cardinals in 2023.UPDATE: Walker is starting in right field and batting seventh on Monday against Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott.

Mon Aug 12 202411:18Jordan Walker Stays Hot At Triple-A
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker posted another multi-hit performance on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. This was his second straight game, tallying multiple hits and going deep. Since the start of the month, the 22-year-old has held a strong .349/.404/.674 line with 15 total hits, three doubles, three round-trippers, five RBI, and a 4:9 BB:K ratio. Since moving down to Triple-A, Walker has posted a .257 AVG, but his recent hot stretch could suggest he is turning the corner. Walker has struggled in the big leagues throughout his young career but could get another opportunity late in the summer if he continues to develop at Triple-A.

Mon Jul 8 202420:32Jordan Walker Not In Consideration To Return To The Big Leagues
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker currently has a .686 OPS in 53 games at Triple-A Memphis and is not even in the conversation for a promotion back to the big leagues after he was sent back to the farm at the end of April. The 22-year-old formers 21st overall pick in 2020 hit just .155 (9-for-58) with no home runs, four RBI and 18 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances in 20 games to begin the year before being demoted. Fantasy managers that were expecting a step forward in 2024 after he hit .276/.342/.445 with 16 homers, 51 RBI and seven stolen bases in 117 games in his rookie season in 2023 have been sorely disappointed. Lars Nootbaar returned from his latest injury on Monday and Tommy Edman (wrist) could be back early in the second half, which will make it even more difficult for Walker to get back in the mix in St. Louis.
