Sun Apr 6 | 18:41 | Kris Bubic Looks Stellar On Sunday |
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic made easy work of the Baltimore Orioles during Sunday's contest. The southpaw carried his success from the season opener into this game. He tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, while striking out eight batters in the win. Bubic did allow five hits, but the O's hitters weren't able to do much with the runners. He has been showing good control with his secondary pitches, so continuing to do that will be crucial for him. Bubic is well worth a look as a streaming option for his next start against the Cleveland Guardians. |

Mon Mar 31 | 21:49 | Kris Bubic Notches Eight Strikeouts In Strong Win On Monday |
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic was fantastic in his first start of the season, striking out eight Brewers without giving up a run in the Royals' 11-1 win. The outing was great to see for the 27-year-old, who has spent most of the past two seasons in Kansas City's bullpen. It also was a great turnaround after a subpar Spring Training in which Bubic threw for a 5.40 ERA. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Monday's outing to be the norm for Bubic going forward as ATC projections expect him to throw for a 4.16 ERA. However, there are worse options fantasy managers could find on the waiver wire. If he's available on the waiver wire then fantasy managers should pick him up if space is available. His next scheduled start is Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles, most certainly a tougher test than the Milwaukee Brewers. |

Wed Mar 26 | 00:53 | Kris Bubic Fans Eight In Tuesday's Start |
Kansas City Royals pitcher Kris Bubic had a solid final spring start in Tuesday's 3-1 win against the Rangers. Bubic pitched five innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts on 81 pitches. The 27-year-old had an excellent 2024 season out of the bullpen and earned the fifth rotation spot for the Royals this spring, going 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 21 2/3 IP. The spring statline doesn't instill a ton of confidence, but Bubic did have some fantasy appeal as a prospect several seasons ago and showed his skills last season. He may be worth keeping an eye on for fantasy managers in deep leagues to start the season. He will also be eligible as a relief pitcher, giving him some added appeal in points leagues. |

Thu Mar 20 | 17:07 | Kris Bubic Appears To Be Favorite For No. 5 Rotation Spot |
MLB.com's Anne Rogers writes that it appears to be shaping up as though Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic will earn the final rotation spot out of spring training behind Cole Ragans, Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha and Michael Lorenzen. It means that Daniel Lynch could open the 2025 season out of the bullpen or as a starter at Triple-A Omaha. But the fact that Lynch has come out of the bullpen in Cactus League games this week gives insight to where the Royals might be leaning. Bubic has had a strong spring and most recently struck out five in 3 1/3 scoreless innings against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. He emerged as a high-leverage reliever late last year after having Tommy John surgery in 2023. His workload will surely be managed, but if he can transfer any of his strikeout stuff from last year to the rotation, he'll be useful in deep-mixed and AL-only affairs. |

Mon Feb 24 | 07:05 | Kris Bubic The Front-Runner For Fifth Starter Role |
Kansas City Royals left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic is seen as the frontrunner for the fifth starter role. During his spring debut, Bubic tossed two innings and allowed one run. He tallied two punchouts. The 27-year-old made his 2024 debut in the second half due to undergoing Tommy John early in the 2023 season. Across 30 1/3 innings, Bubic posted a 2.67 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. He tallied 39 punchouts and held a strong 4.1 percent walk rate. Bubic also generated an elite 1.81 xERA and a .191 xBA, which were both well above the average marks. In addition, Bubic has worked on adding a sinker to his pitch mix during spring training in hopes of performing better against lefties. Fantasy managers should consider targeting him in deeper AL-only formats if he earns the job. This would then push Daniel Lynch IV and Alec Marsh to a long relief role. |

Tue Dec 3 2024 | 23:37 | Royals Plan To Use Kris Bubic As A Starter |
The Kansas City Royals plan to use left-hander Kris Bubic as a starting pitcher next season, although he'll most likely be on an innings limit of around 140 to 150 in his first full season back from Tommy John surgery. At the top of the rotation, the Royals are set heading into the 2025 campaign with veteran right-handers Seth Lugo and Michael Wacha and lefty Cole Ragans. Kyle Wright (shoulder), Daniel Lynch and Noah Cameron are other options for KC's rotation. If the Royals add another pitcher this offseason, they would most likely be in more of a swing role, and it probably wouldn't come until later in the offseason. The 27-year-old Bubic had TJ surgery in April of 2023 and threw 30 1/3 relief innings late in 2024, finishing with a strong 2.67 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 39 K's and only five walks. The Royals have an opening in their rotation after trading ... [ More] |

Fri Feb 23 2024 | 20:21 | Kris Bubic Moved To 60-Day Injured List |
Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic has been moved to the 60-day injured list as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery last April. The 26-year-old was limited to just three starts before undergoing the knife last season, tossing a 3.94 ERA in that time. Bubic recently threw his first bullpen session of the spring and is likely to return to the roster somewhere in the middle of the season. He is the owner of a career 4.85 ERA across 70 appearances, 60 of which were starts. The Royals added Michael Wacha and Seth Lugo to their rotation this offseason while the emerging Cole Ragans should headline the group. Even with a healthy return, his 20.2% K% leaves him well off the fantasy radar for the 2024 campaign. |

Thu Feb 22 2024 | 16:40 | Kris Bubic Throws First Bullpen Session |
Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic (elbow) threw his first bullpen session on Tuesday at spring training since having Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old southpaw threw around 15 pitches (only fastballs) and felt good the day after with no extra soreness in his elbow. It was the first time he's thrown off a mound since last April. He's scheduled to throw another side session on Friday and will have around nine weeks of bullpens with increasing intensity before he faces hitters. Bubic is currently limited to throwing fastballs off the mound but has started to flip in some breaking balls and offspeed stuff while playing catch. He opted for full UCL reconstruction in April of last year and is targeting the middle of 2024 as a potential return date. |

Tue Feb 20 2024 | 17:09 | Kris Bubic To Throw First Bullpen On Tuesday |
Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic (elbow) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session of spring training on Tuesday. Bubic is recovery from Tommy John surgery last April and is scheduled for a midseason return in 2024. The 26-year-old southpaw made only three starts for the Royals last year before having surgery, and he went 3-13 with a career-worst 5.58 ERA (4.78 FIP) and 1.69 WHIP with 63 walks and 110 strikeouts over 129 innings and 27 starts in 2022. Bubic won't be a lock for the Royals' starting rotation this summer, either, as long as both Seth Lugo and Michael Wacha are healthy around the All-Star break. Fantasy managers in deep-mixed fantasy leagues should hold off on Bubic until he proves he's healthy in the second half. |

Mon Feb 12 2024 | 18:49 | Kris Bubic To Throw A Bullpen Session This Week |
Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session this week at spring training. It's a notable development, as it will be the 26-year-old southpaw's first time throwing off a mound since he had Tommy John surgery last April. He isn't going to be ready to pitch in the first half of the 2024 season, but barring any setbacks along the way, Bubic should become an option for KC's starting rotation at some point in the second half. He only made three starts in 2023 before going under the knife and had a career-worst 5.58 ERA (4.78 FIP) and 1.69 WHIP with 63 walks and 110 strikeouts in 129 innings over 28 outings (27 starts) for the Royals in 2022. Fantasy managers in deep mixed leagues should take a wait-and-see approach on Bubic once he's ready to return later this year. |

Sat Feb 10 2024 | 13:51 | Kris Bubic Slated To Return In The Middle Of The Season |
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session next week after pitchers and catchers report to spring training. The 26-year-old southpaw underwent Tommy John surgery last April and while he won't be ready for the start of the regular season, he's targeting a return sometime in the middle of the 2024 campaign. Though it was a limited sample size of just three starts (16 innings), Bubic got off to the best start of his career in 2023. He worked a 3.94 ERA (2.94 FIP) and 1.313 WHIP with 16 punch outs to just two walks over those three starts before landing on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his elbow that eventually led to surgery. Bubic has some intriguing upside and if he can continue to progress through his recovery then he's a name to monitor when he finally makes it back to the Royals' rotation. |

Tue Dec 19 2023 | 21:04 | Royals Avoid Arbitration With Kris Bubic |
The Kansas City Royals avoided salary arbitration with left-hander Kris Bubic on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.35 million deal with him. Bubic is still recovering from Tommy John surgery on his left elbow, which limited him to three starts in 2023. The 26-year-old southpaw will be off the fantasy radar in the spring because of the fact that he's expected to miss at least the first half of the season. In his three starts in April of this year, Bubic allowed seven runs on 19 hits (one homer) while walking only two and striking out 16 in 16 innings. In his four seasons with the Royals dating back to the shortened 2020 campaign, Bubic has a 4.85 ERA (4.81 FIP) and 1.52 WHIP with 146 walks and 289 strikeouts in 70 appearances (60 starts) covering 325 innings pitched. |

Fri Apr 21 2023 | 14:21 | Kris Bubic To Undergo Tommy John Surgery |
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic (elbow) was recently placed on the 15-day injured list due to a left flexor strain. Now, the Royals have revealed that Bubic will need to undergo Tommy John surgery. That means, Bubic will miss the rest of the 2023 season and probably the beginning of 2024. This is a shame considering the 25-year-old appeared to be finally turning a corner. He was fairly decent through his first three starts, but he won't take the mound again this season. It's unclear who is going to take over as the full time starter with Bubic out for the rest of 2023. |

Sun Apr 16 2023 | 12:51 | Royals Put Kris Bubic On 15-Day Injured List |
The Kansas City Royals placed left-hander Kris Bubic (forearm) on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with a left flexor strain and recalled left-hander Josh Taylor from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. The move comes a day after Bubic allowed five runs on 10 hits in five innings of work against the Atlanta Braves. The 25-year-old southpaw will now go on the shelf for a little while after starting off his 2023 season with a 3.94 ERA (2.74 FIP), 1.31 WHIP, two walks and 16 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched over three starts for KC. It's not clear yet who will replace Bubic in the starting rotation for the Royals moving forward. |

Mon Apr 10 2023 | 00:23 | Kris Bubic Looks Sharp Against Giants |
Kansas City Royals left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic dominated the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, throwing six innings of scoreless, two-hit ball. Bubic added nine strikeouts without allowing a walk, but unfortunately walked away with a no-decision after the Giants mounted a comeback. The lefty generated 19 whiffs on 76 pitches and finished with a 43 CSW%, both very good numbers. Bubic has looked good through his first two starts and has managed to limit his walks, something he hasn't been able to do in the past. He'll need to show more of this to be trustworthy, but he should be starting to creep onto fantasy radars soon. |

Tue Mar 28 2023 | 12:17 | Kris Bubic Named Royals Fifth Starter |
Kansas City Royals left-hander Kris Bubic will be the team's No. 5 starter to open the 2023 regular season, according to manager Matt Quatraro. Bubic gets the chance with Daniel Lynch (shoulder) getting injured. The 25-year-old southpaw looked very good this spring, posting a 1.74 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, seven walks and 15 strikeouts in five Cactus League outings (three starts) over 10 1/3 innings of work. In his three seasons with the Royals, Bubic hasn't really moved the fantasy needle with a 4.89 ERA (4.93 FIP), 1.53 WHIP and 20 percent strikeout rate in 309 innings pitched over 67 appearances (57 starts) for KC. Bubic should only be considered for fantasy staffs in AL-only leagues now that he actually has a rotation spot. |

Sat Jan 14 2023 | 23:43 | Kris Bubic Avoids Arbitration |
The Kansas City Royals and starting pitcherKris Bubicagreed to a one-year, $2.2 million deal to avoid salary arbitration. The southpaw made 28 starts for the Royals this past season and posted a career-high 5.58 ERA across 129 frames. Bubic struck out 110 batters and whipped up a 4.78 FIP. The 25-year-old has had better years as a starter, and the Royals can only hope that Bubic can move past this roadblock in his career. He is relatively young for a starter which gives him time to alter any flaws in his game. The Royals do not have the most dependable rotation, but Bubic is undoubtedly a vital component of the rotation. However, he will not provide anything significant from a fantasy standpoint and is mainly an option in deep-league formats. |

Fri Jan 13 2023 | 20:51 | Royals, Kris Bubic Avoid Salary Arbitration |
The Kansas City Royals agreed to a one-year, $2.2 million deal on Friday with left-hander Kris Bubic to avoid salary arbitration. Bubic wasn't very good for KC last year, going 3-13 with a career-high 5.58 ERA (4.78 FIP), 1.69 WHIP and career-low 18.7 percent strikeout rate in 129 innings over 28 outings (27 starts) in his third MLB season. The 25-year-old southpaw will be off the fantasy radar in mixed leagues entering spring drafts. In his three seasons with the Royals, he's posted a 4.89 ERA (4.93 FIP), 1.53 WHIP and 20 percent strikeout rate in 67 appearances (57 starts). |

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic had his best outing of the year on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers. He pitched seven innings and allowed two hits, one walk and no runs while striking out six. He earned the win to improve to 6-6 on the year. Bubic has quietly had a strong month of September. Over five starts this month, he's gone 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA. He hasn't been going very deep into his starts all year, but Sunday's outing was his second consecutive quality start. He'll make his final start of the 2021 season against the Minnesota Twins next Saturday. |
