Mon Apr 723:48Jason Alexander Joins Big-League Roster
The Athletics selected the contract of right-hander Jason Alexander from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday and optioned right-hander Joey Estes to Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Alexander will be making his first appearance in the big leagues since 2022, when he appeared in 18 games (11 starts) and had a 5.40 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 71 2/3 innings with the Milwaukee Brewers. The A's bullpen was taxed over the weekend in their series at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies, so Alexander will provide some length in relief before most likely being sent back down to Las Vegas. The 32-year-old veteran made one start for Vegas this year before his call-up, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while walking none and striking out three in 3 1/3 innings pitched. Alexander won't move the needle at all for fantasy managers in any leagues.

Wed Nov 20 202414:46A's Sign Matt Krook, Jason Alexander
The Athletics signed free-agent left-hander Matt Krook and right-hander Jason Alexander to minor-league deals late last week. Krook, 30, pitched one inning in relief for the Baltimore Orioles in 2024 and allowed three runs (two earned) while walking one and striking out two. He saw most of his action at Triple-A Norfolk, posting a 3.92 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with a save, 54 strikeouts and 31 walks in 41 relief appearances. Alexander, 31, hasn't pitched in the majors since debuting in 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers, when he had a 5.40 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 71 2/3 innings in 18 appearances (11 starts). He spent this past season pitching for Triple-A Worcester in the Red Sox's organization, going 7-6 with a 4.42 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP and a 129:39 K:BB in 29 outings (27 starts) covering 138 1/3 frames. Both Krook and Alexander are likely to start at Triple-A Las Vegas in 2025.

Sun Feb 19 202322:52Jason Alexander Out Until May
Milwaukee Brewers right-handerJason Alexander(shoulder) is expected to be out until May after re-aggravating his right shoulder. Alexander was trending in the right direction after increasing his workload but rehashed his injury after his shoulder began to flare up. The 29-year-old spent most of his rookie campaign as a starter and saw some bullpen reps. He molded a 5.40 ERA with 46 strikeouts across 71 2/3 innings. Alexander made 11 starts out of 18 appearances and finished with a 1.619 WHIP. The California native is mainly used for pitching depth and won't necessarily have a secure role in the Brewers rotation. Alexander may make a handful of starts, but he'll likely spend most of his time in the bullpen when he returns.

Wed Jul 20 202211:41Jason Alexander Sent To Triple-A
The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned right-hander Jason Alexander to Triple-A Nashville. Alexander made two spot starts for the Brewers early in July before being shifted to a long-relief role out of the bullpen. The 29-year-old has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues this year, allowing 28 earned runs on 58 hits while walking 19 and striking out only 23 hitters in 45 innings of work over 10 appearances (seven starts). He was especially bad in July, giving up 15 earned runs on 19 hits (four home runs) while walking six and fanning eight in 14 1/3 innings. Alexander could be a candidate for some more spot starts in the second half if the Brewers are in a pinch, but fantasy managers should avoid him as a streamer.

Thu Jun 2 202213:06Jason Alexander Scatters Runners In Debut
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jason Alexander made his major-league debut Wednesday and managed to allow just three runs (two earned) to score despite scattering seven hits and three walks across seven innings. He struck out three batters and took a no-decision in the 4-3 loss to the Cubs. It's unclear whether Alexander will receive another start for the club, but the opportunity is there with Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta out for the immediate future. Either way, Alexander isn't worth picking up just yet.

Wed Jun 1 202200:19Jason Alexander Will Start For Brewers Wednesday
Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander will make his first big-league start in Wednesday's game at the Cubs, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. The Brewers have had several injuries in their rotation, and the 29-year-old will be called upon in a good matchup. Alexander has compiled a 2.64 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP and 17.5% strikeout rate over 47 2/3 innings pitched and seven starts at Triple-A Nashville. While he has pitched well overall and draws a decent matchup, it would be a risky move for fantasy managers to trust him.
