Tue Feb 1107:23Yankees Sign Ronaldo Hernandez To Minor-League Contract
According to the team, the New York Yankees have signed catcher Ronaldo Hernandez to a minor-league contract. The 27-year-old has yet to make his MLB debut. Last season, he spent the entire season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, playing with Triple-A Reno. Across 63 games, Hernandez held a strong .311/.357/.507 slash line with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, and an 11:36 BB:K ratio. During his first look at Triple-A, during the 2023 campaign, Hernandez held a lower .242/.336/.445 line with Triple-A Worcester. Fantasy managers should monitor his progress during spring training as he could contend for an early-season debut if he continues this production. Currently, Alex Jackson and J.C. Escarra are set to compete for the No. 2 role behind Austin Wells.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed catcher Ronaldo Hernandez to a minor-league deal. The 26-year-old was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Rays and made his professional debut in the 2015 season. More recently, he spent the 2023 season at the Triple-A level in the Red Sox organization, swatting 17 home runs alongside a .242 batting average across 99 games played. Overall, the righty-swinging backstop owns a career .279 average with 91 HR across 636 games played in the minor leagues. He will presumably serve as Triple-A catching depth for the reigning NL champs in the 2024 campaign.
