Wed Apr 1608:40Jarren Duran Productive In Win Over Rays
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran went 1-for-3 with a home run and a steal in his team's 7-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The former seventh-round pick scored twice, walked twice, and drove in two runs. It was Duran's first long ball of the year, as he's off to a sluggish start after batting .285 or better over the prior two seasons. The 28-year-old is up to a .234 average with six steals, eight runs scored, and ten RBI. He's logged a hit in three straight games -- the first time he's done so all season -- so it's possible that his bat is beginning to wake up. As a reminder, Duran hit .236 in May last season and followed it up with a blistering June in which he held a .360 average over 111 at-bats.

Sat Apr 1214:27Jarren Duran Sitting On Saturday
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is not in the starting nine on Saturday when the Red Sox continue a series against the White Sox. Duran has been in the starting nine in each of the first 15 games of the regular season. Instead, the Red Sox will give Rob Refsnyder the nod in left field and will have him bat cleanup. Through the start of the campaign, Duran has held a .231/.292/.308 slash line with three doubles and one home run. He has tallied eight RBI and swiped five bags. The 28-year-old has generated a strong 92.6 mph average exit velocity with a 73.8 mph bat speed, which suggests he should see positive regression when he returns to the lineup. He will likely return to the lineup on Sunday and face White Sox right-hander Shane Smith.

Fri Apr 1106:00Jarren Duran Helps Red Sox Avoid Sweep
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran reached base four times in Boston's extra-inning win over the Blue Jays, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored, an RBI, and his fifth stolen base of the season. Duran stole second base in the sixth inning after one of his walks and came around to score the first run of the game on a single by Alex Bregman. He also drove in the automatic runner in the 10th inning to set up Trevor Story's game-winning groundout. On the season, Duran is 15-for-60 (.250) with three doubles, a triple, five walks, five stolen bases, and a .291 wOBA. After getting back to .500 with Thursday's win, the Red Sox and Duran head to Chicago for a weekend series against the White Sox.

Tue Feb 2512:03Jarren Duran Back In Grapefruit League Lineup
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (calf) is starting in left field and batting leadoff in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Atlanta Braves. Duran was scratched from Sunday's spring training game on Sunday, and the team's game on Monday was rained out. The 28-year-old is back in there now, though, after dealing with a minor calf injury. Duran broke out in 2024 as a first-time All-Star with a .285/.342/.492 slash line, .834 OPS, 21 home runs, 75 RBI, 34 steals and 111 runs scored in 160 games in his fourth year in the big leagues. He led the league in plate appearances (735), at-bats (671), doubles (48) and triples (14) and should now be considered a top-10 fantasy outfielder heading into the 2025 regular season, even if he is due a little bit of regression.

Sun Feb 2310:26Jarren Duran Scratched From Sunday's Lineup
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (calf) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's Grapefruit League contest. This is not believed to be a serious issue, but the Red Sox are holding out Duran due to calf soreness. It's not surprising to see the Red Sox taking the cautious approach this early into camp. The expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup after a few days. For now, Roman Anthony will take over in left field and bat leadoff during Sunday's game.

Fri Feb 711:28Jarren Duran Expected To See More Time In Left Field
The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey writes that Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is expected to see more playing time in left field in 2025 with Ceddanne Rafaela in center field. Rafaela was forced to move to shortstop last year out of necessity when Trevor Story suffered a season-ending shoulder injury early in the season. With Story returning in 2025, Rafaela should spend more time in center field, which will push Duran to left. From a fantasy perspective, it won't change Duran's outlook much, although it could make him a little more attractive in leagues with specific left, center and right field starting lineup spots. Even if the 28-year-old takes a small step back in production in 2025, he'll be one of the better leadoff hitters in baseball. Duran continued to improve his strikeout and walk rates a year ago and also had a career-high barrel rate. He is RotoBaller's No. 10 fantasy outfielder.

Fri Jan 1714:11Jarren Duran Avoids Arbitration With Red Sox
Outfielder Jarren Duran and the Boston Red Sox agreed to a one-year, $3.85 million deal on Friday to avoid salary arbitration, according to sources. The deal also includes a team option for $8 million for the 2026 season. The Red Sox initially filed at $3.5 million in arbitration, with Duran asking for $4 million, but the two sides will now avoid going to trial. Depending on where the 28-year-old rising star finishes in the American League MVP voting this year, his club option in 2026 could rise to $12 million. Duran was in the first of four arbitration years and has an extra year of eligibility due to Super 2 status. The former seventh-round pick in 2018 out of Cal State Long Beach built on an impressive 2023 campaign to hit .285/.342/.492 with 21 homers, 75 RBI and 34 steals in 160 games. He led the league in doubles (48) and triples (14) and is RotoBaller's No. 22 overall fantasy player heading into spring training.

Duran has been a five-category fantasy contributor this season, slashing .292/.350/.511 with 17 HR, 87 runs scored, 64 RBI, and 31 stolen bases in 576 plate appearances. Wed Aug 14 202416:07Jarren Duran Returns From Suspension
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is back from his two-game suspension and is starting in left field and batting in his customary leadoff spot on Wednesday against the visiting Texas Rangers and right-hander Dane Dunning at Fenway Park. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter has been one of the more productive leadoff hitters in baseball in 2024 and also won the All-Star game MVP award. Mon Aug 12 202416:01Jarren Duran Suspended Two Games
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran has been suspended for two games on Monday after he uttered an anti-gay slur at a fan during Sunday's game against the visiting Houston Astros. Duran's suspension will begin effective immediately, and he'll miss Monday night's game against the Texas Rangers. Fantasy managers will obviously want to keep him out of their daily lineups for Monday's and Tuesday's games, but he should be back in there on Wednesday. With Duran out on Monday, Ceddanne Rafaela is in center field and batting ninth, Rob Refsnyder is in left field and hitting third, and Wilyer Abreu is in right field and in the six-hole against Rangers right-hander Tyler Mahle. Duran is in the midst of a breakout campaign in 2024 and is a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's in Boston's starting lineup this year.

Mon Aug 12 202412:02Jarren Duran Could Face Potential Suspension
Major League Baseball is considering its options regarding the incident with Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, and a decision will be reached later on Monday or no later than Tuesday. In previous instances, the league has worked with teams and approved discipline levied by a club. Television microphones picked up Duran's use of a homophobic slur directed at a fan during Sunday's contest against the Houston Astros. At the very least, fantasy managers should expect the 27-year-old to miss the upcoming series against the Texas Rangers that starts on Monday. But outside of that, it's unclear how long Duran might be forced to sit out. Duran was a first-time All-Star this year and won the Midsummer Classic MVP award. He's having a breakout year and leads the league in plate appearances (541), doubles (36) and triples (13) while slashing .291/.350/.503 in 116 games.

It's just another great performance from one of the breakout players of the season, who now has a robust .296/.355/.515 slash line with 78 runs, 14 homers, 55 RBI, and 26 steals. Those totals make him one of the best five-category contributors in the league, and he was a waiver-wire pickup in most leagues. If you have Duran, savor this excellent campaign.
