Wed Apr 1618:21Jonathan Aranda, Brandon Lowe Sitting Against A Lefty
Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda and second baseman Brandon Lowe will both start on the bench against a left-hander on Wednesday against the division-rival Boston Red Sox. Curtis Mead will make the start at first base and will bat second, while Coco Montes is starting at second and hitting seventh against Red Sox left-hander Sean Newcomb. Aranda is hitting a strong .414 (19-for-46) on the year with three home runs, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored, but the Mexican slugger has yet to start in 2025 against a southpaw. Lowe has only made one start this year against a lefty, and like Aranda, he also has three home runs on the season in 61 at-bats. Mead has DFS upside as a deep sleeper in the two-hole on Wednesday, but he's gone just 4-for-22 in the early going for Tampa with an RBI and a run scored. Still, he's the better DFS sleeper option than Montes.

Thu Apr 1009:13Brandon Lowe Off To Solid Start For Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe has hit safely in eight of his 10 games this season and sports a solid .293 batting average to go with three home runs, eight RBI, and a .366 wOBA. In each of the last three years, Lowe has hit under .250 with a wOBA under .340 despite back-to-back years with 20-plus home runs. The Rays are managing his workload, and he got Wednesday off against a left-handed starter with Curtis Mead stepping in. When he has been in the lineup, though, the 30-year-old Lowe has been productive enough to be a solid option in AL-only leagues and brings good power from a sometimes tricky 2B roster spot.

Thu Jan 908:53Brandon Lowe Not On The Trade Block
According to Andy Martino of SNY, the Tampa Bay Rays are not actively shopping infielder Brandon Lowe. Martino noted that with the Rays needing offensive help, they would instead hold on to Lowe as he carries high power upside. Lowe has hit at least 20 home runs in each of the past two seasons. Last summer, the 30-year-old posted a .244/.311/.473 line with 19 doubles, 21 long balls, and five stolen bases. Under the hood, he posted a strong .346 xwOBA, .485 xSLG, and a 12.4% barrel rate, which were all significantly above the average marks. In addition, playing in a spring training stadium for their home games could increase Lowe's power output. However, if the Rays fall out of playoff contention, he could then be placed on the trade block. For now, fantasy managers should expect Lowe to operate as the clear No.1 second baseman in Tampa Bay.

Fri Nov 1 202418:16Rays Pick Up Club Option On Brandon Lowe
The Tampa Bay Rays have picked up the 2025 club option on second baseman Brandon Lowe according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Lowe is coming off another solid season where he hit at least 20 home runs for the second-straight campaign. He also held a .244/.311/.473 slash line with 58 RBI and five stolen bases. Under the hood, he held an above-average 44.7% hard-hit rate and a 12.4% barrel rate which suggest his power numbers should continue to remain stable heading into 2025. Fantasy managers should view Lowe as a solid late-round option for power as a middle infielder.

Wed Sep 11 202416:48Brandon Lowe Returns Against Phillies
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (finger) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting second on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Zack Wheeler at Citizens Bank Park. Lowe has been dealing with inflammation in his ligament on both sides of his middle finger and missed the previous five games as a result. The 30-year-old is feeling better now, though, and will return in a tough matchup on the road. Lowe has came in to pinch hit the last couple of days and even saw some time at second base, so he's clearly improving and shouldn't need a trip to the injured list. In 10 career at-bats against Wheeler, Lowe has taken him deep once and driven in two, but he has only two total hits. The left-handed hitter has gone just 4-for-21 (.191) with a homer, RBI and seven strikeouts in September and isn't a recommended DFS play given the matchup against Wheeler.

Fri Sep 6 202420:37Brandon Lowe Dealing With Finger Issue
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (finger) was not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles and is dealing with a finger issue. Manager Kevin Cash said Lowe has some ligament inflammation on both sides of his middle finger and had it wrapped before the game. "He's banged up," Cash said. "The finger is bothering him. He's seeing the doctor, but we're going to try to lessen his workload and swings, and see if we can get that thing to calm down. He's available, but for right now, every little swing is aggravating him, so not sure how long it's going to take." Jose Caballero got the start at the keystone on Friday, with Taylor Walls starting at short. It's a day-to-day situation for now, but if Lowe can't return soon, this could quickly turn into an IL situation. The 30-year-old lefty slugger has provided 16 homers, 49 RBI and five steals in 318 at-bats in 2024 while batting .242.

Fri Sep 6 202416:28Christopher Morel, Brandon Lowe, Jose Siri Sitting On Friday
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman/outfielder Christopher Morel, second baseman Brandon Lowe and outfielder Jose Siri are all heading to the bench on Friday versus the division-rival Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Dean Kremer at Camden Yards. Dylan Carlson is starting in left field and batting cleanup, Jose Caballero is at second base and batting seventh, and Jonny DeLuca is in center field and is in the six-hole against Kremer, who is making his first start off the injured list. Morel has struggled in his short time with Tampa since being acquired from the Cubs at the trade deadline, hitting .191 (22-for-115) with three homers, five RBI and 42 strikeouts in 31 games. Carlson has hit just .208 (16-for-77) in 25 games since joining the Rays at the trade deadline, but all three of his homers have come in Tampa. He'll be a deep DFS sleeper in the cleanup spot for the Rays on Friday.

Fri Aug 30 202415:02Brandon Lowe Out Against A Lefty
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe will retreat to the bench for Friday's series opener at Tropicana Field against the visiting San Diego Padres with a left-hander starting on the mound. Jose Caballero will start at the keystone and bat fifth against Padres veteran left-hander Martin Perez. Taylor Walls is at shortstop and in the eight-hole. Lowe is actually hitting .315 against left-handed pitchers this year, but in a small sample size of only 54 at-bats. Three of his 16 homers on the year have come against southpaws. He's also gone just 5-for-36 (.139) with three doubles and 15 strikeouts in his last nine games dating back to Aug. 19. Lowe needs to be on fantasy benches right now. Caballero is really only useful to fantasy managers for his speed, as he currently leads the league with 37 stolen bases and has also been caught stealing a league-high 13 times.

Sat Aug 17 202421:35Brandon Lowe Homers Saturday In Win Over Diamondbacks
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe homered on Saturday in a 6-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was Lowe's 15th of the year. The veteran homered off reliever Dylan Floro in the sixth inning. Lowe knocked in two runs, scored two runs, and had two hits on the day. He moves his season totals to a .252 batting average with 15 home runs, 46 RBI, five stolen bases, and 38 runs scored. Perhaps interestingly, Lowe played first base on Saturday while Yandy Diaz served as the designated hitter. He has played four games at first base this season and if he can continue getting at-bats there, he could add value to his fantasy game by adding first base eligibility.

Thu Jul 25 202419:54Brandon Lowe Homers Among Four Hits Thursday
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe had a huge game Thursday in a 13-0 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays. Lowe hit his 12th homer of the season and had four hits total, knocking in three runs while scoring twice. The veteran is now hitting .251 with 12 home runs, 33 RBI, one stolen base and 29 runs scored on the season. Lowe has four home runs in his last seven games. When healthy, Lowe is one of the better left-handed hitters in the game.

Wed Jul 24 202406:34Brandon Lowe Homers In Win Over Toronto
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in his team's 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. Lowe launched his two-run shot off Toronto starter Jose Berrios in the fifth inning to push Tampa's lead to 3-0. The veteran infielder is now hitting .239 with 11 homers, 27 runs, 30 RBI, and one steal across 176 at-bats. While his batting average isn't great, Lowe continues to provide solid fantasy power numbers from second base, making him a decent reserve option in most leagues.

Sat Jul 20 202412:15Brandon Lowe Sitting Against Southpaw
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe will get the day off in the Bronx on Saturday versus the division-rival New York Yankees with left-hander Nestor Cortes on the mound. Curtis Mead, who was called up from Triple-A Durham on Saturday, will serve as the designated hitter and bat in the three-hole against Cortes. Even though it's a lefty-on-lefty matchup, Lowe has hit .571 with a 1.714 OPS, a home run and five RBI off Cortes in seven career at-bats, but Tampa obviously thought it was a good day to get Lowe a breather in the second game of the first half. Mead, who hits from the right side, has gone just 19-for-87 (.218) this year with a homer and five RBI in 26 games. Lowe only has 30 at-bats against southpaws in 2024 but has 11 hits (two homers) against them.

Fri Jul 5 202408:34Brandon Lowe Crushes Eighth Home Run
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe went 3-for-5 with a walk, three runs and a solo home run in Thursday's victory versus the Kansas City Royals. Lowe has missed some time this season with injuries, but has shown the power he has in the past when healthy. Lowe's 421-foot home run in the top of the sixth inning would be his eighth of the season. In addition to his power, Lowe has driven in 25 runs with a .229 batting average in 131 at-bats. The veteran will help managers with power out of the second base position, but at the cost of a sunken batting average. Depending what managers are searching for, Lowe makes for a fine option in deeper mixed leagues.

Wed Jul 3 202408:00Brandon Lowe Continues To Show Power
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe went 2-for-4 with a walk and solo home run in Tuesday's victory versus the Kansas City Royals. Lowe took former teammate Nick Anderson deep in the top of the ninth inning to add an insurance run with his seventh homer of the season. The veteran has dealt with injuries this season, but he has been solid when healthy. On the season, Lowe is now hitting .220 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 123 at-bats. Lowe isn't going to help managers in the batting average department, but his power makes him a solid option in mixed leagues at a position that isn't the deepest.

Sat Jun 29 202413:05Brandon Lowe Returns To Starting Lineup
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon and will serve as the designated hitter and bat second. Lowe has been out of the lineup for the past five straight games but did come in as a pinch-hitter on Friday evening, which suggested he should return on Saturday. The 29-year-old has posted a poor .216/.313/.414 line with five home runs through 36 games this season. However, before the injury, Lowe was beginning to find his footing with a much-improved .254/.324/.476 slash line with four home runs through June. Lowe is worth a look in DFS this afternoon as he will have prime scoring opportunities batting at the top of the Rays lineup but does have a tougher matchup in Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin, who holds a 2.35 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in his past four starts.

Fri Jun 28 202416:17Brandon Lowe Still Out On Friday
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) remains out of the team's starting lineup on Friday for the series opener against the Washington Nationals. Lowe fractured his right pinkie toe last Saturday and has not played since. The Rays were initially hoping that he could avoid a trip to the injured list, but if Lowe cannot return to the field this weekend against the Nationals, he could be put on the shelf through the All-Star break in mid-July. The speedy Jose Caballero will work at second base again on Friday for the Rays. The 29-year-old Lowe continues to deal with injuries and also hasn't been producing for fantasy managers at the plate this year when he's been on the field. He's currently slashing just .217/.316/.417 with five home runs, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored in 115 at-bats.

Wed Jun 26 202412:00Brandon Lowe Out For Series Finale Wednesday
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) remains out for the series finale on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Lowe is out for the fourth straight game after fracturing his right pinkie toe last weekend. The Rays are hoping he can avoid a stint on the injured list, but the longer he goes without getting on the field, the greater the chance he eventually lands on the IL. On top of the injury, the 29-year-old power-hitting second baseman just hasn't gotten it done at the plate in 2024, batting .217/.316/.417 with five home runs, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored in 115 at-bats. His next chance to get back on the field will come on Friday against the Washington Nationals after an off day on Thursday. Amed Rosario is at the keystone and is batting sixth on Wednesday against Mariners right-hander George Kirby.

Tue Jun 25 202416:32Brandon Lowe Still Sitting Tuesday
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) remains sidelined on Tuesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Lowe suffered a broken right pinkie toe on Saturday and will now start on the bench for a third straight game, which is no big surprise. The Rays are hoping the oft-injured 29-year-old can avoid a trip to the injured list, though. He was available to pinch hit on Sunday, so it's possible that he'll be ready to play by the end of the week if he's feeling better. The speedy Jose Caballero is at second base and batting third, with Taylor Walls at shortstop and hitting seventh on Tuesday against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Lowe has decent pop at second base, but he just hasn't been right this year and is hitting just .217 (25-for-115) with only five homers and 22 RBI.

Mon Jun 24 202417:10Brandon Lowe Remains Out On Monday
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) remains out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Richie Palacios will take his place at second base and will bat fifth against Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. It's not that big of a surprise that Lowe is still sidelined after fracturing his right pinkie toe when he was hit by a pitch in Saturday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. For now, the Rays and the 29-year-old are hoping that he can avoid a trip to the injured list, but we'll see how long that lasts. The former third-round selection in 2015 out of Maryland still has intriguing pop from the second base position, but injuries continue to get in the way. Lowe is hitting only .217 (25-for-115) on the year with five homers, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored. Palacios is mainly useful for his speed (11 stolen bases) in deeper fantasy leagues.

Sat Jun 22 202418:12Brandon Lowe Exits Early With Foot Contusion On Saturday Afternoon
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe (foot) left the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates early on Saturday afternoon with a right foot contusion. He was removed from the game as a precaution and was replaced by Isaac Paredes. The injury is not believed to be serious and was suffered on a hit-by-pitch by rookie Jared Jones. Lowe is hitting .217 with five home runs and 22 RBI in 115 at-bats for the Rays this season. Consider him day-to-day at this point. Should he miss time, look for Amed Rosario or Richie Palacios to get a start or two in the meantime.
