Fri Mar 21 | 15:07 | Thairo Estrada To Miss 4-8 Weeks With Broken Wrist |
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said that second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist) will miss four to eight weeks with a broken right wrist that he suffered when he was hit by Texas Rangers right-hander Kumar Rocker in Cactus League action on Thursday night. Estrada will get another X-ray in around four weeks. With the 29-year-old now out for the foreseeable future, the Rockies plan to use Kyle Farmer at the keystone to open the season. This is obviously a big blow for Estrada's fantasy value in NL-only leagues to begin the 2025 campaign. Farmer, 34, will see a notable boost in deep-mixed and NL-only formats with additional playing time, but don't expect a ton. He's a .250/.310/.391 career hitter in eight MLB seasons and batted just .214 (46-for-215) with five homers, 25 RBI and 49 strikeouts in 242 plate appearances with the Twins in 2024. |

Sat Mar 15 | 19:19 | Thairo Estrada Removed From Saturday's Contest |
Colorado Rockies second baseman Thairo Estrada (head) was removed early from Saturday's spring training contest. Estrada's head was hit by an opponent's inadvertent foot during a tag play. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team may opt to keep him sidelined for a few games out of precaution. Estrada is slated to be Colorado's everyday second baseman. Earlier in the offseason, he inked a one-year deal with the Rockies worth $3.25 million. Last season, the 29-year-old had one of his worst offensive outputs as he posted an underwhelming .217/.247/.343 line with 15 doubles and nine home runs across 96 games. He swiped two bags and held a solid 19.9 percent strikeout rate. In 2023, Estrada posted a .271/.315/.416 line. He is worth a look as a late-round middle infielder as he looks to bounce back in Colorado. |

Tue Dec 10 2024 | 15:32 | Thairo Estrada Signs One-Year Deal With Colorado |
According to Mark Feinsand of the MLB Network, the Colorado Rockies have signed free-agent infielder Thairo Estrada to a one-year contract. Estrada has spent each of his past four seasons playing with the San Francisco Giants. Last season, the 28-year-old held a disappointing .217/.247/.343 slash line, which was a stark drop compared to the solid .271/.315/.416 line he posted in the 2023 campaign. In addition, during the 2023 season, he hit 14 home runs and swiped 23 bags while he hit just nine home runs and had two stolen bases last summer. Under the hood, Estrada generated a weak 31.7% hard-hit rate and 4.8% barrel rate. Despite his drop in production last season, Estrada could be an intriguing late-round flier in deeper formats, as he will be playing in a positive fantasy environment in Coors Field and could be set up well for a nice bounce-back campaign as a regular. |

Sat Dec 7 2024 | 01:10 | Thairo Estrada Could Make Sense For Rockies To Fill 2B Need |
The Colorado Rockies are in the market for a second baseman this winter, and according to a source, one name to monitor is free-agent infielder Thairo Estrada. After moving on from Brendan Rodgers finally, the Rockies signed Kyle Farmer already this offseason, but he projects better as a utility infielder than an everyday starter at the keystone. Prospect Adael Amador isn't quite ready, so Colorado is looking for more of a stop-gap option. In addition to Estrada, free-agent options include Gleyber Torres, Ha-Seong Kim, Jorge Polanco, Jose Iglesias, Adam Frazier and ... [ More] |

Fri Aug 30 2024 | 21:46 | Thairo Estrada Outrighted To Triple-A Sacramento |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday. The 28-year-old posted a .590 OPS in 381 PA this season, especially struggling over the last couple weeks by posting just a .486 OPS in 35 PA. Estrada had been dealing with a wrist injury he sustained in late July and hasn't quite regained his form from the first half of the season. With Estrada being demoted, Casey Schmitt is in place to get most of the starts at second base. His 82 wRC+ isn't quite that appealing, but it does outpace the production Estrada was giving San Francisco. The Giants also recalled Brett Wisely in a corresponding move with Estrada's demotion. Wisely's 82 wRC+ at the major league level gives the Giants similar production at second base. Only fantasy managers in deeper leagues should even be considering adding Schmitt or Wisely to their lineups. Other fantasy managers needing help at second base can likely find better options on the waiver wire. |

Mon Aug 19 2024 | 18:24 | Thairo Estrada Activated On Monday |
San Francisco Giants infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Monday. Estrada appears ready to play again after being sidelined since late July due to a sprained wrist. He'll cover second base and bat eighth against right-hander Jonathan Cannon on Monday. Despite his struggles it doesn't look like Estrada has lost his starting spot on the team. He's slashing .216/.249/.343 with nine home runs and 43 RBI in 87 games this season. At this point, Estrada probably isn't worth rostering in most fantasy formats outside of deep leagues. |

Mon Aug 12 2024 | 21:50 | Thairo Estrada To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. Recovering from a sprained left wrist, Estrada is ready to get in some game action and should be back with the Giants either sometime later this week or early next week. The 28-year-old infielder has been a major disappointment in his fourth year with the Giants this season, slashing a pitiful .216/.249/.353 with nine home runs, 14 doubles, and 43 RBI over 329 at-bats. Although he makes for a weak stash overall in fantasy leagues, Estrada should return to an everyday role at the keystone for San Francisco when he's activated from the injured list. |

Mon Aug 5 2024 | 21:36 | Thairo Estrada To Start Hitting Progression |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist) was scheduled to begin his hitting progression before Monday's series opener against the hosting Washington Nationals. Estrada missed nine games with the same sprained left wrist earlier this year, but he struggled to overcome the injury after returning from his first stint on the 10-day injured list on July 9. He went just 3-for-34 (.088) with seven strikeouts in his last 10 contests, causing the Giants to send him back to the IL on July 26. The 28-year-old Venezuelan infielder should be back with San Francisco at some point in August. For the time being, the lefty-hitting Brett Wisely finds himself on the strong side of a platoon for at-bats with Casey Schmitt at the keystone in the Bay Area. |

Fri Jul 26 2024 | 19:09 | Giants Put Thairo Estrada On 10-Day Injured List |
The San Francisco Giants placed infielder Thairo Estrada (wrist) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a left-wrist sprain and recalled infielder Casey Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. With Estrada on the shelf, Schmitt will start at the keystone and bat eighth on Friday against the visiting Colorado Rockies and left-hander Kyle Freeland. This will be the second time this year that Estrada has landed on the IL with a left-wrist sprain. The 28-year-old infielder has really only been valuable for middle-infield depth in deep-mixed leagues, at best, in 2024. Estrada is currently hitting just .216/.249/.353 with a weak .601 OPS, nine homers and 43 RBI in 87 games played in his fourth year in San Fran. Expect Schmitt to split time at second with Brett Wisely with Estrada on the shelf. |

Tue Jul 9 2024 | 18:18 | Thairo Estrada Activated And Starting On Tuesday |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Estrada has been sidelined since late June due to left-wrist tendinitis. He could see an increased look at shortstop with Nick Ahmed being designated for assignment. On Tuesday, Estrada will play second base and bat seventh versus lefty Yusei Kikuchi. Fantasy managers who have Estrada rostered can get him back in their lineups on Tuesday. |

Sat Jul 6 2024 | 01:02 | Thairo Estrada Begins Hitting Program |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist, thumb) began a hitting program prior to Thursday's series finale against the hosting Atlanta Braves, and he will continue his progression during this weekend's series in Cleveland against the Guardians. Estrada is recovering from discomfort in his left wrist and thumb, but if he doesn't need a brief minor-league rehab assignment before returning to the Giants' infield, he'll be a candidate to be activated from the 10-day injured list promptly following the Midsummer Classic in mid-July. The 28-year-old Venezuelan infielder was batting just .231 (68-for-295) with a .640 OPS, nine home runs, 39 RBI, and one stolen base while regularly hitting in the lower part of San Fran's lineup in 77 games prior to the injuries, so he's not necessarily a must-stash player in shallow fantasy leagues. In the meantime, the lefty-hitting Brett Wisely will serve as the primary second baseman. |

Sat Jun 29 2024 | 00:04 | Giants Place Thairo Estrada On 10-Day Injured List |
The San Francisco Giants placed second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist, thumb) on the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's series opener versus the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Estrada has been bothered by left wrist and thumb discomfort recently, signaling for the Giants to suddenly send him to the IL before Friday's contest against the Dodgers. The 28-year-old Venezuelan infielder has been a pretty big disappointment from a fantasy perspective in 2024, batting .231 (68-for-295) with a .640 OPS, nine home runs, and just one stolen base in 77 games prior to the injuries, so he's not necessarily a must-stash player in shallow settings. The lefty-hitting Brett Wisely figures to take over as San Fran's primary second baseman for now but doesn't sport very much appeal at the moment, and the timing of Estrada's setbacks could make it difficult for him to return before the mid-July All-Star break. |

Thu Jun 20 2024 | 17:19 | Thairo Estrada Getting The Day Off On Thursday |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada is not in Thursday's lineup as the Giants open a three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. Estrada has made 14 consecutive starts and will give keystone duties to Brett Wisely this evening. During this stretch, the 28-year-old has struggled with a .211/.250/.316 slash line with just one home run and eight RBI. Through 71 games this season, Estrada has posted a modest .240/.272/.396 line with nine long balls. Wisely will bat in the leadoff spot and has held a strong .299/.321/.442 line through 25 games this season. The 25-year-old infielder is worth a look in DFS this evening as he will face Andre Pallante, who has posted a high 5.56 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 11 innings this month. |

Tue Jun 18 2024 | 10:04 | Thairo Estrada Hits Walk-Off Homer |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada hit a three-run, walk-off homer to lift them to a 7-6 win over the Chicago Cubs on Monday. Estrada's homer was his ninth and capped off a night that saw him finish with two hits, four RBI, and a walk in five plate appearances. The home run snapped a string of 20 consecutive games where Estrada had not gone deep. He is slashing .243/.277/.401 with 39 RBI and 37 runs scored. Estrada's versatility as a middle infielder offers some value and remains a solid fantasy option in leagues with 12 or more teams. |

Mon Jun 3 2024 | 19:19 | Thairo Estrada Unable To Return For Giants |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (thumb) is absent from the team's starting lineup on Monday for the series opener on the road in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. This will be the third straight game that Estrada has missed after jamming his thumb on Friday in a contest against the New York Mets. When healthy, the 28-year-old has been San Fran's regular second baseman and is currently hitting .248/.278/.417 with eight home runs, 31 RBI and 32 runs scored in 218 at-bats. The Venezuelan switch-hitter should be considered day-to-day for now, and fantasy managers will want to check back on Tuesday to see if he's back in the lineup. Brett Wisely is starting at second and batting leadoff on Monday, while Casey Schmitt is starting at short and batting eighth against D-backs right-hander Ryne Nelson. Wisely is 12-for-36 (.333) in his first 14 games in 2024 and can be considered a DFS sleeper in the leadoff spot. |

Sat Jun 1 2024 | 19:14 | Thairo Estrada Out Of Lineup On Saturday |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada is out of the lineup on Saturday night for the Giants' tilt against the New York Yankees. Brett Wisely will start in his place. This appears to be a mix of a rest day for Estrada while also getting Wisely, a lefty, in a nice platoon matchup against Yankees right-hander Cody Poteet. Estrada had a solid May, hitting for a .731 OPS during the month. Fantasy managers shouldn't worry about Estrada's status going forward while DFS managers may want to take a peek at Wisely for Saturday night as the lefty is hitting for an .845 OPS and six RBI in 29 PA so far this season. |

Sat Apr 27 2024 | 18:49 | Thairo Estrada Back In San Francisco Lineup Saturday Night |
Veteran middle infielderThairo Estrada(hamstring) reenters the lineup Saturday night for the San Francisco Giants, batting eighth and playing second base against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Estrada was forced out of the game on Wednesday night with hamstring tightness and missed Friday night with the aforementioned Pirates. Estrada is hitting .252 with three home runs and 12 RBI this season and is 4-for-16 with three runs in his last five games for the Giants. It appears Estrada has avoided serious injury by maintaining his spot in the lineup tonight. |

Fri Apr 26 2024 | 21:44 | Thairo Estrada Out Of Lineup On Friday |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (hamstring) is not in the Giants' lineup for their Friday night tilt against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Estrada was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets after dealing with hamstring tightness. As of now, Estrada is considered day-to-day. The 28-year-old is slashing .232/.253/.400 on the year so his impact to the Giants and fantasy managers' lineups may be fairly negligible. Tyler Fitzgerald is getting the start in his place and will bat eighth. Should Estrada return this weekend he would see Martin Perez on Saturday and Pirates rookie Jared Jones on Sunday. |

Wed Apr 24 2024 | 21:39 | Thairo Estrada Experiencing Hamstring Tightness |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada (hamstring) exited Wednesday's loss to the visiting New York Mets in the sixth inning due to tightness in his left hamstring after going hitless in two at-bats. Estrada wanted to stay in the game before Jung Hoo Lee replaced him, so it doesn't seem like he's dealing with a significant injury at this time. Consider him day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and perhaps San Fran's day off on Thursday will be enough to prevent Estrada from missing any additional time. The 28-year-old veteran infielder is batting only .232 (22-for-95) with nine extra-base hits, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored, and zero stolen bases through 26 outings, and his fantasy value will remain diminished until he can climb his way up the Giants' batting order. |

Mon Apr 1 2024 | 12:36 | Thairo Estrada Hits First Homer Of The Season |
San Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada went 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season, two RBI, a run scored and two strikeouts in Sunday's 13-4 loss to the San Diego Padres to wrap up the team's first series of the year. In the four-game series in San Diego, which ended in a split, Estrada went 4-for-15 (.267) with the home run, four RBI, two runs scored and four strikeouts. The 28-year-old has hit safely in each of the first four games of the year. He's off to a solid start in 2024 after slashing .271/.315/.416 with a career-high-tying 14 home runs, 49 RBI, a career-high 23 stolen bases and 63 runs scored in 120 games in 2023. Estrada doesn't do anything overly impressive, but his role as San Fran's everyday second baseman gives him fantasy value as a middle-infield option in deep-mixed leagues. |
