Sat Apr 19 | 14:21 | Gabriel Arias, Lane Thomas Sitting On Saturday |
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias and outfielder Lane Thomas are not in the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon when they continue a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arias has been in the starting nine in each of the last seven contests. During this stretch, he has posted a stellar .385/.429/.769 slash line with three long balls and eight RBI. Thomas has been in a bit of a slump. Over his last eight contests, the 29-year-old held a .154/.179/.192 slash line with just one extra-base hit. Fantasy managers should expect Arias and Thomas to both rejoin the starting lineup on Sunday. As a result, Brayan Rocchio and Angel Martinez will enter the starting nine and cover shortstop and center field, respectively. Neither player is worth targeting in DFS facing Pittsburgh ace Paul Skenes. |

Sat Mar 29 | 14:21 | Gabriel Arias Sitting On Saturday |
Cleveland Guardians second baseman Gabriel Arias will take a seat on Saturday afternoon when the Guardians face the Kansas City Royals and right-handed pitcher Seth Lugo. Arias got the nod at the keystone on Opening Day, facing a southpaw in Cole Ragans. However, facing a right-hander, the Guardians will turn to left-handed bat Daniel Schneemann on Saturday. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor this situation as the Guardians may keep Arias on the weak side of a platoon. Last season, Arias posted a .222/.255/.353 across 53 MLB contests. Last season, Schneemann made his MLB debut and held a .218/.303/.368 slash line across his first 73 MLB contests. Schneemann is best to fade in DFS facing Lugo, who held a strong 3.00 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP across 206 2/3 innings. |

Mon Feb 10 | 19:15 | Juan Brito, Gabriel Arias Competing For Second Base Job |
According to Mandy Bell of MLB.com, Juan Brito and Gabriel Arias will compete for the second base job during spring training. Earlier in the offseason, the Guardians traded second baseman Andres Gimenez to the Toronto Blue Jays, which opened this position on the depth chart. Bell noted that while Arias may be viewed as the slight frontrunner given his major league experience, the team is expected to give Brito an "extended look" during spring training. Last season, Arias logged 53 starts with the Guardians and posted a .222/.255/.353 line. He held a hefty 32.9 percent strikeout rate but was placed in the 97th percentile in arm strength. Brito is ranked as the eighth-best prospect in the system and spent all of last season with Triple-A Columbus. Across 144 games, Brito held a .256/.365/.443 line with 40 doubles and 21 long balls. Brito is worth monitoring in spring training as he could be a viable target in deeper formats as he flashed solid power upside at Triple-A last summer. |

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias turned in a solid outing in his team's 4-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. The 24-year-old has been a super utility man this season as he's played everywhere on the field except catcher and pitcher, hitting .241 with three homers, 15 runs, 15 RBI, and five steals for Cleveland this season as he tries to carve out an everyday role. He has been swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .421 with two homers over his past seven contests. |

The Cleveland Guardians placed third baseman Gabriel Arias (wrist) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a fractured right wrist and recalled shortstop Brayan Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Arias injured his wrist in Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds and will now miss the rest of the 2023 regular season. The 23-year-old played in his first full MLB season this year and finished with a .210/.275/.352 slash line, 10 home runs, 15 doubles, 26 RBI, three stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 345 trips to the plate and 122 games. Arias should be fully healed in time for spring training in 2024. |

Sat Sep 23 2023 | 21:42 | Gabriel Arias Exits Early On Saturday |
Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) was lifted early during Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 24-year-old was pulled out of the game after hitting hit by a pitch in the hand. The expectation is that Arias will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Jose Tena took over at shortstop, so he could see more playing time if Arias is forced to miss time. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday for another update on Arias. |

Cleveland Guardians shortstop prospect Gabriel Arias (hand) fractured the fifth metacarpal in his right hand during Sunday's game at Triple-A. He is in the midst of undergoing tests, but he will be placed on the injured list and he is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. He's been struggling at the plate at Triple-A this year, slashing just .197/.269/.380, but there's a decent chance we'll see him up in the majors again before the end of the 2022 season. |

Wed Apr 20 2022 | 11:37 | Gabriel Arias Joins Big League Roster |
Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias will be making his MLB debut against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The top-100 prospect hit .284/.348/.454 with 13 home runs and five stolen bases in Triple-A last season. This is likely only a one day call-up due to the fact it's a doubleheader. However, it's unlikely going to be the last time we see Arias up at the big league level this season. He'll play second base and bat seventh versus lefty Dallas Keuchel on Wednesday. |

Thu Jul 29 2021 | 15:24 | White flag: Indians trade 2B Hernandez to 1st-place Sox |
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Indians probably can't catch the Chicago White Sox, so they're helping their AL Central rival. Cleveland traded second baseman Cesar Hernandez to the first-place White Sox on Thursday for minor league pitcher Konnor Pilkington — a move that signals the Indians are conceding the division. “We made the trade that we felt made the most sense for us and this is the direction we went,” Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said. "Just as we tried to be realistic in assessing where we are, we’re going to continue to do our best to win as many games as possible. “But the reality is the White Sox are a number of games in front of us and we’re intent on improving. If they didn’t acquire Cesar, we were pretty confident they were going to acquire another talented player from another team.” The White Sox, who lead the Indians by 8 1/2 games and open a series with them Friday, have been in the market for a second baseman since starter Nick Madrigal suffered a... CLEVELAND (AP) — The Indians probably can't catch the Chicago White Sox, so they're helping their AL Central rival. Cleveland traded second baseman Cesar Hernandez to the first-place White Sox on Thursday for minor league pitcher Konnor Pilkington. The White Sox, who lead the Indians by 8 1/2 games and open a series with them Friday, have been in the market for a second baseman since starter Nick Madrigal suffered a season-ending hamstring tear June 10. In Hernandez, Chicago is getting a Gold Glove defender who can bat leadoff and drive in runs for manager Tony La Russa. The 31-year-old Hernandez is hitting .231 in his second season with the Indians with eight home runs and 47 RBIs in 96 games. "Cesar Hernández provides our club with a valuable combination of a power bat in the middle infield and Gold-Glove quality defense,” Chicago general manager Rick Hahn said. “Adding a player like Cesar gives Tony a strong and proven option at second base for the stretch run of the season and hopefully...
