Thu Apr 3 | 23:57 | Carlos Carrasco Strikes Out Five, Picks Up Win |
New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco earned the win on Thursday, striking out five in a 9-7 victory over the Diamondbacks. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks. The veteran is looking to rebound this year after posting a 5.64 and 6.80 ERA over the past two seasons. Things could become complicated once Clarke Schmidt is ready to return, as there's no guarantee Carrasco will stick in the rotation after that point. His next start is currently scheduled to be next week in Detroit. |

Mon Mar 17 | 12:31 | Carlos Carrasco Likely To Earn Rotation Spot |
With the way New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone has raved about veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco's swing-and-miss stuff in camp, indications are that Carrasco is likely to open the regular season in the team's starting rotation, according to YES Network's Jack Curry. The 37-year-old has an opt-out on March 22, but Curry thinks Carrasco will remain with the team because of the fact that they need starting depth due to the injuries to Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Luis Gil (lat). Pitching prospect Will Warren has also been deserving of a rotation spot, but he has minor-league options remaining, and the Yankees apparently don't want to lose Carrasco. The veteran hurler has a 2.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in Grapefruit League play while striking out 12 and walking six in 11 innings. If Carrasco wins the final rotation spot in the Bronx, he'll merely be a low-upside, matchup-based streamer in deep leagues and DFS. |

Mon Feb 3 | 14:05 | Carlos Carrasco Signs Minor-League Deal With Yankees |
Free-agent right-hander Carlos Carrasco signed a minor-league deal with the New York Yankees on Monday. Carrasco went 3-10 with a bloated 5.64 ERA (4.93 FIP) in 103 2/3 innings over 21 starts for the Cleveland Guardians last season and will turn 38 in March. The deal that Carrasco signed includes an invitation to major-league spring training. The 37-year-old was booted from Cleveland's 40-man roster in September, making him a free agent. Given how much he has fallen off in recent years, he figures to open the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to provide the Yankees with starting-pitching depth. The veteran Venezuelan hurler pitched for the New York Mets from 2021-23 and had a 5.21 ERA (4.55), a 1.46 WHIP and 268:97 K:BB in 295 2/3 innings over 61 starts. |

Mon Sep 16 2024 | 12:18 | Carlos Carrasco Makes A Rehab Start |
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Carlos Carrasco (hip) threw three innings in a minor-league rehab start for Double-A Akron on Friday and allowed two runs on three hits while striking out three. Carrasco threw 41 pitches (27 for strikes) and felt OK afterwards. In 21 starts for Cleveland in 2024, he has gone 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA. "He's building back up. We want to make sure his hip is feeling better and everything is healed up," manager Stephen Vogt said on Sept. 3. "We want to get Cookie healed back up to be an option for us to start." The 37-year-old veteran went on the 15-day injured list back on Aug. 9 with a strained left hip and is slowing working his way back towards a late-season activation. However, with Carrasco struggling this year and with rookie Joey Cantillo holding his own as the No. 5 starter, it seems more likely that Carrasco will return to a bullpen role when he's fully healthy. |

Fri Aug 9 2024 | 14:07 | Carlos Carrasco Heads To 15-Day Injured List |
The Cleveland Guardians placed right-hander Carlos Carrasco (hip) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a left-hip strain and recalled left-handed pitching prospect Joey Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Cantillo is starting Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the hosting division-rival Minnesota Twins in just his third big-league start. Carrasco surrendered four runs in 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks and will now miss at least the next two weeks. The 37-year-old veteran should have already been on the waiver wire in mixed fantasy leagues. In his return to Cleveland this year, Carrasco has gone 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with a weak 19.9% strikeout rate in 21 starts covering 103 2/3 innings pitched. |

Fri Jun 21 2024 | 21:59 | Carlos Carrasco Strikes Out Seven, Picks Up Win On Friday |
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco struck out seven in six innings of work while allowing just one earned run in the Guardians 7-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. Carrasco improved his record to 3-6 on the season. The win was much needed for the 15-year vet as this was just his third quality start in 13 chances. The right-hander still has some work to do to get his numbers to a respectable level. His 5.13 xERA suggests he still has a long ways to go before he can become any type of reliable fantasy option. His next shot to keep turning around his season will be a real tough test on Wednesday as the Guardians will travel to Baltimore to face the Orioles at Camden Yards. |

Tue May 21 2024 | 16:01 | Carlos Carrasco Lands On Injured List With Neck Spasm |
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Carlos Carrasco (neck), who was scheduled to start on Tuesday against the visiting New York Mets, has been scratched and placed on the 15-day injured list with an acute neck spasm. Xzavion Curry has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus and will make the spot start on Tuesday. The 37-year-old Carrasco will be out for at least the next two weeks and possibly longer given his age. Although he currently has an ERA of 5.16 and a WHIP of 1.46 in 45 1/3 innings this year, Carrasco had been pitching better of late in his last three starts. However, he's also sporting a weak 17.2 percent strikeout rate and doesn't have a ton of fantasy upside in deeper leagues when he's in Cleveland's starting rotation. |

Tue Mar 26 2024 | 12:37 | Carlos Carrasco Makes Cleveland's Rotation |
Veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco has made the Cleveland Guardians' Opening Day starting rotation and is slated to make his 2024 debut on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics and right-hander Paul Blackburn. Although the 37-year-old Carrasco doesn't have much fantasy appeal these days, he could be a sneaky streamer this weekend against the A's. We'll see how Carrasco fares to open the season, but when Gavin Williams (elbow) is healthy, there's a good chance Carrasco will be bumped from the rotation. In 20 starts (90 innings) for the New York Mets in 2023, he wasn't good, going 3-8 with a 6.80 ERA (5.86 FIP) and 1.70 WHIP while walking 38 and striking out 66. Carrasco will most likely serve as a multi-inning reliever for Cleveland for most of the year. |

Fri Feb 23 2024 | 14:07 | Carlos Carrasco Slated To Start Spring Opener |
Cleveland Guardians right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco (finger) is expected to start Saturday's Spring Training game against the Cincinnati Reds, according to Nick Camino of WKYC. Carrasco inked a minor league deal this season with the Guardians, for whom he played 11 seasons from 2010 through 2020. He most recently pitched for the New York Mets, posting a 4.93 xFIP, 6.60 K/9, and 3.80 BB/9 through 20 starts last year before a 50-pound barbell fell on his finger and prematurely ended his season. A trusted veteran presence familiar with the Cleveland system, Carrasco will compete for a back-of-the-rotation role in camp. |

Sun Jan 28 2024 | 12:17 | Carlos Carrasco Returning To Guardians |
Free-agent right-hander Carlos Carrasco signed a minor-league deal with an invitation to big-league spring training on Saturday with the Cleveland Guardians, according to sources. The 36-year-old veteran pitched for the Guardians from 2009-20. He spent the last three seasons with the Mets, going 19-20 with a bloated 5.21 ERA (4.55 FIP) and 1.46 WHIP with 97 walks and 268 strikeouts in 295 2/3 innings over 61 starts. He was even worse in 2023, posting a 6.80 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 90 innings over 20 starts before fracturing his finger in September. The Guardians' starting rotation is already pretty set heading into the 2024 season, so Carrasco could open the year in a middle-relief role out of Cleveland's bullpen, making him unattractive in the majority of fantasy leagues. |

Tue Aug 29 2023 | 18:57 | Carlos Carrasco Waived By Mets |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco has been waived by the team on Tuesday. The Mets have really struggled this season, but so has Carrasco. He has a 6.60 ERA, 1.70 WHIP in over 90 innings of work. At this point, the Mets are just trying to get some salary relief for the veteran pitcher. There was already a handful of other pitchers waived on Tuesday as well. Honestly, Carrasco has pitched the worst out of them all. That being said, playoff contending teams will probably all look elsewhere before considering Carrasco. A change of scenery isn't going to make him worth a gamble in fantasy leagues. |

Tue Jun 6 2023 | 14:35 | Carlos Carrasco Looking To Stay Strong Tuesday |
New York Mets pitcher Carlos Carrasco is looking to build on two consecutive excellent starts as he takes on the Atlanta Braves on the road Tuesday night. While Carrasco allowed five runs or more in three of his first four starts this season, he's also allowed two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four, including just one earned run allowed in each of his last two outings while logging at least six innings on both occasions. While he's turned his season around of late, the 36-year-old still sports a bloated 5.74 ERA while his 6.09 FIP, 5.40 SIERA, and tiny 13.9% K% leave plenty to be desired. He'll take on a dangerous Braves offense that is tied for 11th with a .324 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. |

Fri May 19 2023 | 09:28 | Carlos Carrasco Set To Return Friday |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow) is expected to come off the injured list and start Friday's game against Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Guardians, according to MLB.com. The right-hander hasn't pitched in big league action since April 15 after experiencing right elbow inflammation. Over Carrasco's first three starts, his numbers weren't pretty, pitching to an 8.56 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 12.3% strikeout rate. However, given his track record, including a 3.97 ERA in 2022, fantasy managers can assume things will start to regress in the right direction. This doesn't change the rotation much, as there was already a spot open after the club demoted Joey Lucchesi and David Peterson. |

Thu May 11 2023 | 16:50 | Carlos Carrasco Scheduled To Make Rehab Start Sunday |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow) is tentatively scheduled to make his next minor-league rehab start on Sunday, May 14, before rejoining the Mets' starting rotation. He allowed a run over three innings for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday. Between the start and a 46-pitch bullpen session, coaches were "very upbeat" about how he felt and pitched. Carrasco's bone spur in his right elbow could eventually require surgery, but in the short term he received a cortisone injection and restarted a throwing program the week of April 24. Barring a setback over the weekend, the 36-year-old veteran right-hander should be back in New York's rotation next week. He's sporting an 8.56 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with eight strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings over his first three starts, and Carrasco will be a very risky fantasy play in his first start back. |

Tue May 9 2023 | 23:11 | Carlos Carrasco Goes Three Innings In Rehab Start |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow, illness) made his first minor-league rehab start for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday and allowed a run on three hits while walking one and striking out one in three innings of work. Carrasco only threw 33 pitches in the outing, so it's more than likely that he'll need at least one more rehab start before the Mets feeling comfortable returning him to their starting rotation. The 36-year-old right-hander has been on the injured list since the middle of April due to right-elbow inflammation, and he was sporting an ugly 8.56 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and only eight strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings in his three starts for the team before his injury. Carrasco's first rehab start was pushed back to Tuesday due to an illness. |

Mon May 8 2023 | 13:59 | Carlos Carrasco To Make Rehab Start Tuesday |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow, illness) will make a minor-league rehab start for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday. Carrasco's first rehab game was scratched over the weekend after he came down with an illness, but he's feeling better now and will pitch on Tuesday. The 36-year-old right-hander is expected to need just one rehab appearance before the Mets activate him from the injured list, so he should be back with the big-league team later this week, barring a setback on Tuesday. Carrasco hasn't pitched since April 15 due to a bone chip in his right elbow, so fantasy managers looking to stream him should be extremely careful whenever he makes his next start for the Mets. |

Sat May 6 2023 | 13:40 | Carlos Carrasco Will Miss Scheduled Rehab Start |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow/illness) will not make his scheduled minor league rehab start this weekend, per manager Buck Showalter. Showalter told reporters that Carrasco isn't feeling well while dealing with a virus so his scheduled rehab start will need to be pushed back. The veteran hurler has been out since mid-April with a bone spur in his right elbow. He struggled with an 8.56 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over his first three starts so fantasy managers should be cautious with him whenever he makes it back to the Mets. |

Mon May 1 2023 | 12:14 | Carlos Carrasco Could Rejoin Rotation Next Week |
New York Mets manager Buck Showalter said that starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow) is making progress and could be inserted back into the starting rotation next week. The 36-year-old right-hander has been recovering from a small bone chip in his right elbow that landed him on the injured list a few weeks ago. If Carrasco returns to the team's rotation without going on a minor-league rehab assignment, he'll be even riskier for fantasy lineups and will likely be on a pitch count. When he returns to New York, Joey Lucchesi will likely be out of a rotation spot. Before getting hurt, Carrasco hadn't looked good, posting an 8.56 ERA (7.48 FIP), 1.61 WHIP, eight walks and eight strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings over three starts. |

Thu Apr 27 2023 | 18:42 | Carlos Carrasco Throws Bullpen Session Thursday |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow) threw a bullpen on Thursday. Carrasco came away feeling good, but there is still no return date for him. Without any further setbacks, Carrasco, who has a bone spur in his throwing elbow, should be back within a few weeks. Hopefully, he is on his way back to the mound soon for the Metropolitans. |

Sat Apr 22 2023 | 15:02 | Carlos Carrasco Is Several Days From Throwing |
New York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (elbow) is two to three days from throwing, per manager Buck Showalter. Carrasco is dealing with inflammation and a small bone spur in his right elbow and received a small injection earlier this week. The team will know more about his status once he resumes throwing. The idea is that the injection and the time off will help him avoid a lengthy absence but that remains to be seen. The 36-year-old hurler got off to a horrible start this year, putting up an 8.56 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 8:8 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings. |
