Fri Nov 22 2024 | 12:17 | Brewers Avoid Arbitration With Eric Haase |
The Milwaukee Brewers avoided salary arbitration with catcher Eric Haase on Friday, agreeing to an undisclosed one-year deal. The Brewers now have their backup catcher locked up for the 2025 season while catching prospect Jeferson Quero starts the season in the minor leagues. All-Star William Contreras is Milwaukee's starter behind the dish. The 31-year-old Haase will be in his second year with the Brew Crew in 2025 after hitting .273/.304/.515 with a career-best .819 OPS, five home runs, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored in only 30 games played for the Brewers in the regular season. It wasn't a bad showing in a limited sample size, but Haase obviously will be off the fantasy radar going into next season with limited playing time behind Contreras. |

Wed Dec 20 2023 | 13:23 | Eric Haase Signs One-Year Deal With Brewers |
Free-agent catcher Eric Haase signed a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Haase heads to the National League after having spent the 2023 season splitting time with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians. In 89 games with both teams, he hit just .201/.247/.281 with four home runs, eight doubles, a triple, 26 RBI, four stolen bases and 22 runs scored in 293 plate appearances. The 31-year-old veteran did have a total of 36 home runs and 105 RBI in two seasons for the Tigers from 2021 and 2022, so he does have some notable pop in his bat at a weak position in fantasy. However, he will mostly serve in a backup role for the Brew Crew behind starting backstop William Contreras. |

Wed Oct 4 2023 | 21:49 | Eric Haase Becomes A Free Agent |
Cleveland Guardians catcher Eric Haase elected to become a free agent on Wednesday. Haase began the 2023 season with the Detroit Tigers before joining the Cleveland Guardians. In 89 total games with both teams, he hit just .201 (55-for-274) with four home runs, eight doubles, a triple, four stolen bases and 22 runs scored in 293 plate appearances. He's been trying to replicate his 22-homer season in 2021 with the Tigers but hasn't been able to, and now he'll be looking to latch on with another team this winter. The 30-year-old backstop is a career .225/.276/.391 hitter with 41 home runs, 137 RBI, six stolen bases and 113 runs scored in 323 games over six big-league seasons with the Tigers and Guardians. |

Mon Aug 21 2023 | 14:38 | Eric Haase Claimed Off Waivers From Tigers |
The Cleveland Guardians claimed catcher Eric Haase off waivers from the Detroit Tigers on Monday and designated catcher Zack Collins for assignment in a corresponding move. Haase will remain in the American League Central after being designated for assignment by Detroit last week. The 30-year-old backstop was originally drafted by Cleveland in the seventh round in 2011, and he made his major-league debut for the team back in 2018. He will immediately become the Guardians' backup catcher behind rookie Bo Naylor with Cam Gallagher (concussion) and David Fry (hamstring) currently sidelined with injuries. Haase hit just .201/.246/.284 with four home runs, 26 RBI, three stolen bases and 22 runs scored in 86 games for the Tigers this year before being cut. |

Wed Feb 22 2023 | 20:19 | Eric Haase To Get More Catching Reps |
Detroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase is expected to see an increased workload behind the plate in 2023. After the Tigers let Tucker Barnhart walk in free agency, it cleared a path for Haase to fill in as the starting catcher. The only catcher on the current roster other than Haase is 27-year-old Jake Rogers, who isn't a perennial major-leaguer. Haase made 84 appearances behind the plate in 2022 and even saw some outfield reps. He slashed .254/.305/.443 with 14 home runs and a .748 OPS. His bat has developed into a legit threat since going pro in 2018, and the Tigers may consider him in the long run if his bat continues to contribute. Haase will mainly be a flier in deep-league formats for 2023. |

Tue Sep 27 2022 | 14:23 | Eric Haase Not Starting On Tuesday |

He'll head to the bench with Tucker Barnhart getting the start behind the plate and batting eighth. Fantasy managers in search of streaming help are probably better off looking elsewhere. |

Sat Sep 3 2022 | 13:49 | Eric Haase Absent From The Lineup On Saturday |
Detroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase (abdomen) is not in the lineup on Saturday vs. the Kansas City Royals. The 29-year-old took an unlucky foul ball in his "lower abdomen" during the first inning of Friday's game and was replaced by Tucker Barnhart after finishing the frame. It's no surprise that he's missing Saturday's contest as a result of the injury he sustained on Friday. Barnhart is once again replacing him in the lineup and will bat eighth against Kansas City starter Jonathan Heasley. |

Tue Jul 26 2022 | 00:07 | Eric Haase Swats Grand Slam |

He finished with two hits in his five at-bats. Haase has been excellent in his past 30 games, slashing .322/.375/.632 with six home runs in 95 plate appearances. He has a .758 OPS with eight homers, 24 runs scored, and 25 RBI in 184 plate appearances this season, making him a solid cheap value for fantasy managers who slotted him into their catcher spots when he's been active. |

Wed Jun 29 2022 | 19:41 | Eric Haase Blasts Go-Ahead Homer |
Detroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase has been on a hot streak lately and that continued on Wednesday. The 29-year-old catcher went 1-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth inning off left-hander Alex Wood. This blast proved to be the difference in the 3-2 victory for the Tigers. Haase has struggled throughout most of the season. However, he's hitting .316 with three home runs and 10 RBI over his last 12 games. Fantasy managers in need of a production from the catcher spot should look and see if Haase is available. |

Mon Apr 11 2022 | 14:21 | Eric Haase Isn't Starting Monday |
Detroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase isn't in the starting lineup on Monday for a matchup with the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Michael Wacha. Haase has appeared in all three of the Tigers' games so far this season, logging seven plate appearances. He's drawn a pair of walks and connected on a home run. Instead, it'll be Tucker Barnhart starting behind the dish and batting eighth against Wacha. The veteran hit .247 with a .317 on-base percentage and seven home runs in 388 plate appearances for the Cincinnati Reds last season. You're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming options at catcher. |

Sat Apr 9 2022 | 11:31 | Eric Haase Starting At Catcher Saturday |
Detroit Tigers catcher/outfielder Eric Haase will get his first start of the season Saturday against the Chicago White Sox, catching and batting seventh, according to MLB.com. The 29-year-old was a pleasant surprise last season when he slashed .231/.286/.459 with 22 HRs over 98 games. During yesterday's Opening Day, Haase was used as a pinch-hitter and later slugged a ninth-inning home run off Liam Hendriks to tie the game. With the Tigers deploying three catchers in the early stages of the season, it'll be harder for Haase to get into the lineup, but his ability to play the outfield will help. With Dylan Cease going for the White Sox, it isn't the best opportunity for fantasy managers to stream the backstop, who struggled against right-handers last season, producing just a .661 OPS. There are better options elsewhere. |

Thu Sep 30 2021 | 18:24 | Eric Haase Getting A Rest Thursday |
Detroit Tigers catcher/outfielder Eric Haase is absent from Thursday's lineup for the matchup against the Minnesota Twins, according to MLB.com. Dustin Garneau will catch and bat eighth instead. Garneau has shown some pop since joining the Tigers in mid-August, with six home runs and a .885 OPS in 18 games. He might be worth taking a chance on as a streaming option in deeper leagues. |

Detroit Tigers catcher/outfielder Eric Haase helped lead the team to a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. He went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in the game. The home run was his 22nd of the year. The 28-year-old has struggled at the plate so far in September. He was slashing just .171/.239/.317 over 12 games this month going into Sunday's contest. Haase has been something of a revelation for the Tigers and fantasy managers alike this year, mashing his 22 home runs in just 89 games. He's still probably worth starting for most fantasy managers the rest of the way. We'll see if Sunday's home run can get him going again. |

Instead, it'll be Dustin Garneau getting the start behind the plate in place of Haase. Garneau could be a quality streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.
